Been here a few times but realized I may not have left a review. The brunch today was delish. I ordered the avocado toast. It has a nice slice of toast with cream cheese, thinly sliced avocado on top, and a boiled egg. I really enjoyed it with a side of bacon. My husband ordered the egg cheese Sammy. It was really yummy as well. We had a French press coffee and mimosa. The decor was really pretty. I've been here for dinner and enjoy the dinner menu as well. The food was very good. I forgot to take a picture of it. But I ordered the steak and eggs from the brunch menu on Easter. It also came with a hash brown. And I ordered the orange juice. It was freshly squeezed, but not very cold. It still tasted delicious. What I liked best was the hash brown was really crispy and all the flavors were good. Like the steak was a little sweet, and the eggs were seasoned just right. Everyone was really attentive and checked on us often. We came in right at a rush time so the food took a little while, but not outrageously long, and they let us know when it was coming. The decor was super cute. A friend and I went for Brunch on a Saturday. I had the Frose 75 which was very refreshing. I ordered the Bombay Toast which was very savory and tasty. The shoestring fries were perfect and paired well with the salad (think, "girl dinner"). Entrees ordered: -Curry Chicken Roll: perhaps the best dish on the table. The chicken was delicious, paired perfectly with the curry. -Curry & Rice: perfect for a cold winter day. The roasted vegetables that make up this curry were incredibly flavorful. It was served with fried paneer, which I wish there was a greater portion of. -Juniper Burger: vegan mushroom burger that was super tasty! Once again, the fries were amazing. Upon arriving I got to see one of the main reasons we got a reservation - the photo op swing chair and the wall gallery. The hallway to the bathroom was also delicately decorated with pretty mirrors and frames. We were promptly seated; don't hesitate to ask for help from proactive and friendly staff. All flavors meshed well together in this meal. The hashbrown was prepared differently than we are used to but their homemade ketchup worked great as an addition. OK, wow, Juniper is the kind of place that makes me want to return to Birmingham ASAP just so that I can eat here again! I have had challenges with eating vegan in most small Southern cities. Not that it's impossible, just not that exciting. I like a poke bowl, hummus, a veg stir fry as much as the next vegan but I truly appreciate creativity in a meal, or just something different. Juniper has one of the best vegan Caesar dressings I've ever tried (note that the salad comes with parm, so ask to leave it off if you're vegan). I'm still thinking about that Caesar. We shared the Dish & Chips app, which is this salad and fries (so so so good. They belong in the French fry hall of fame), but next time I'm coming back to eat the entire thing on my own (which, not gonna lie, I kind of did. Sorry not sorry, Camille). The Hearts of Palm is a vegan crab cake extravaganza and is perfect crispy, fried on the outside, tender/succulent and flavorful on the inside. There's a couple other vegan options (not the dreaded only one, which is always kind of sad if you ask me), including a burger which comes with those magical fries. As one might expect from the name, gin is the star of the cocktail show and there are some very intriguing options. I went for a warm tea, a seasonal option. I've never had a warm gin drink before and it was a nice surprise. The space is elegantly rustic, perfect for quiet dinners by candlelight (so vibey) or sun-drenched brunches with friends. I adore the ambiance! And the service is perfection. What more can I say? Oh, I know, a really big big deal for me: Juniper is open blessedly past that dreaded 8 or 9 pm closing. I rarely if ever eat before 8pm, so thank you for staying open later (10:30 weeknights, midnight on weekends). read more

First time brunching at Juniper, and it was just as fabulous as all other Juniper experiences! You truly can't beat the beauty and the feel of this place. Every detail is intentional. The food is just as pretty as the surroundings! I tried the Girl Dinner drink, and the lavender made it the perfect breakfast drink. I also tried the chicken sandwich with greens. One of my favorite hang outs in Bham. Perfect ambiance to dress up a little bit, but it's not stuffy or anything. I always order a French 75, which is gin, champagne, lemon juice, and a little simple. It hits the spot everytime. I don't think it's listed on the regular drink menu, but they'll make you anything with gin here. My bestie and I each ordered the "Dish and Chips" for dinner, which our waitress described as "girl dinner." It's a ceasar salad with fries on the side. Perfecto. The caesar was a little bit different than any I'd had before, it had peanuts on it! Different and scrumptious. This place is the *perfect* date night spot. Dim and romantic, fun patterns and colors, great plates to share, awesome patio. They do cover the patio when it rains!! The have great happy hour specials, too! Met a friend for drinks and we decided to sit at the bar. Very knowledgeable bar staff and quick to provide a slight modification to suit ones taste. I tend to order the [duck fat] potato fries as a snack. We decided to split the Bodega Burger instead and share the side of fries. Came Twice in One Week -- That Should Tell You Everything Let me start by addressing something I've seen mentioned in other reviews: yes, the menu is minimal. But it's a gin bar that offers elevated bites, and I actually think that's what makes it so special. Most bars offer the same predictable trio of fried appetizers. This place is intentional. Focused. Creative. And it works. I first went to Juniper to celebrate a friend's birthday, and within one round of drinks I already knew I'd be back. The staff is phenomenal. Not just friendly -- knowledgeable and genuinely excited about what they're serving. I asked for a lemon drop martini, but gin-based, and they added elderflower liqueur to elevate it. It was hands down one of the best variations I've ever had. What I loved most? They didn't default to "sorry, we can't do that." They leaned in. They played with it. That creativity is what makes this gin-focused bar so fun, they know their juniper, and they know how to build around it. They also have fantastic mocktails. The first visit, I had them choose the gin they thought would pair best with a mocktail base (the blueberry mocktail I forgot the name but delicious) and they nailed it. When I returned four days later (yes, four, it was that good), they crafted more fun mocktail variations for me and even served my elderflower tonic in a beautiful chalice because mocktails can be fun too! The little details matter, and they absolutely deliver. Now let's talk food -- because this is not typical "bar food." We had: * The Burger - Delicious. Flavorful, well-balanced, and satisfying without being heavy. * Lasagna - I personally love a meat lasagna, but I genuinely appreciate that they offer a vegetarian version. It's thoughtful and inclusive. * Crab Cake - My favorite. So flavorful and perfectly done. It comes with a small salad that balances it beautifully. Highly recommend. And the toffee dessert? New obsession. It's the kind of dessert you think about days later On my second visit, we found out the bartender was actually the owner , which explains a lot about the care and pride behind the bar. Super cool, welcoming person. And shoutout to Dalton, the bar back, who was incredibly kind and hospitable. The entire team creates an environment that feels warm but elevated. The vibe deserves its own paragraph. Chic, trendy, slightly hipster (in the best way), and the back patio is stunning. It genuinely feels like they brought a fresh, new energy to the Birmingham scene. Juniper isn't trying to be everything to everyone. Aside from the tart tastes of the drink itself, which I enjoyed, it had the buzz button flower in it which makes your mouth feel electric. I like bizarre stuff, so I give points for that. The drink also takes on a different form after you have eaten the buzz button. The burger and fries were good, about what I was expecting for its price point and an establishment of this nature. I love the vibe of Juniper. The decorations are perfect and I enjoy the sofas to lounge. There is a back area with a fountain and they have heaters on for when it gets cold. If you have never been to Juniper, you definitely should try it! When we visited, it was packed, but luckily, we were able to get a table on the back patio. I highly recommend you request a table in this area. It is really pretty with arched doorways and roses growing up trellises. Perfect for a date night. Regarding food, they have a small menu, but what they offer is really good. We had a group of five and ordered a little bit of everything to share. I highly recommend the Duck Fat Fries. As a group, we agreed that they were amazing. Another dish that I really liked was the Edamame Hummus with black garlic, chili oil, furikake, and pita bread. I was wary at first when I read the description, but it was delicious, and there was plenty to share. The Honey Ginger Chicken with the peanut sauce, Thai pickle slaw, and the cilantro was also our groups favorite. We had three people who usually don't like cilantro, but they did not mind it here. For dessert, we tried the blueberry creme brulee and the strawberry bread pudding. I really liked both, and when you mixed the two, it was even better. Some members of our group preferred the bread pudding over the creme brulee. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
