Stopped by SoHo Social last Friday for happy hour and had a really good time. We decided to go all in on apps, and it was the right move the chicken dip and egg rolls were both solid. For dessert, we got the cinnamon pretzel, and I see why it's popular...definitely a must-try. I had a margarita and my wife had a lemon drop both were well made and hit the spot. The atmosphere was lively but still relaxed, and service kept things moving without feeling rushed. Overall, a great happy hour spot with good food, drinks, and energy. We'll be back.
My first trip to this restaurant was excellent, and I have my co-worker to thank for it! He has been sharing the Burger of the Month with us since he started working for the company. So on the last day of work before the Christmas holiday, several of us agreed to go with him to SoHo Social to try the December Burger of the Month. This restaurant is located in the Homewood City Center in SoHo Square. We met at the restaurant at 11:30am. The parking was insane, but we found decent places. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas and a few servers had Christmas pins on, which was nice. The December Burger of the Month was the Spicy Cahaba, which was 2 smashed beef patties, jalapeño bacon, fresh jalapeños, smashed garlic tots, and 3 sauces - buffalo sauce, ranch sauce, and Cahaba sauce. It sounded so messy, so I wore black instead of cream like I was planning. We placed our orders and about 15 minutes later, we had our plates. Most of us did the Burger of the Month, but some did other burgers because they could not do the jalapeño. My co-worker was right. The flavor of the burger was unbelievably good. It was not as messy as I first thought, even though I did go through several paper towels that were on the table. I enjoyed my burger and fries, and so did my other co-workers. The icing on the cake for me was the group playing Secret Santa a couple of tables next to us. They were having a ball and even though others were feeling their table was too loud, I was loving it! Made me want to dig in my purse for something so I could be part of the game! When my husband heals from his oral surgery, we will have to come here for date night. Definitely recommend!
soho social is a staple in my life! i come here pretty often for happy hours and lunches. my most recent order were the gringo loco tacos and they were amazing! this restaurant is perfect for a casual lunch or a date night! i highly recommend stopping by here - service is great and staff is always kind.
Food was mediocre, wings were terrible I did not like the flavor . Eggrolls were ok. Restaurant was very dimly lit. Ambiance was cool service was nice . Staff was friendly. Seasonal espresso martini was amazing I had 3 . I would only come back for the drink and not for the food. Side note : the bathrooms were clean
I come here pretty often for lunch and happy hour. They have great burgers, tacos, and sides. My fav dish has been the crabcake blt and tots. They're drinks are also bomb! They're pretty and potent, just like I like em lol. I've sat at the bar, on the patio, and some tables inside and received good service each time. Definitely a Homewood gem.
I went during happy hour when most of their cocktails were half off. I ordered the basics salad for $18 and the harvest bowl for $20. They came out in big portions, so it was worth the money. The food was good, and our waitress, Haley, was very courteous. They have indoor and outdoor seating options. Perfect on nice weather days to have options. I would definitely go back.
This resteraunt is good. The food was great. The noise level is high. It took me a second to get used to.
Soho social is a perfect spot for a casual happy hour moment. Service was quick. We ordered some cheesy shareables. The pimento cheese balls were my personal favorite, but the queso and pimento cheese dip were also delicious. They offer happy hour drinks from 4-6 (excluding their specialty cocktails), and I was able to secure a margarita for $4.50! Will definitely be coming back for happy hours.
FOURTH REVIEW FOR CHICKEN WINGS! OH. EM. GEEEEE!!! Why did no one tell me of this gem beforehand? NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM. 1. Crispiness. a 4/5. I have had crispier but they did have a crunch. (see review of umami bham chicken wings...now that is a 6/5 crunch!) 2. Chicken. 6/5. Bite into the wing and see those loverly juices run! Plump and perfectly cooked chicken. 3. Portion size. These are DEFINITELY larger than your average chicken wings! They are marinated (which you can tell), smoked and then fried. The flavor is intense. And I have not gotten to the sauce yet! 4. DEFINITELY AND FINALLY A BUFFALO-ESQUE HOT SAUCE WITH A KICK! And they do not skimp on the sauce like the previous 3 places I have reviewed (Monday Night Brewing Social Club, A-Train terrible foodtruck and umami). Hallelluiah, I have found my go to place for good chicken wings. Plus, M-F from 3-6, they are 1/2 as well as all other appetizers. Unlike some places, the appetizer menu for happy hour only consists of 2-3 items- not true for Soho Social! All drinks (including calls) are also 1/2 off. The ONLY drinks that are not included for this happy hour deal are the specialty drinks. Also, I ordered a side salad (to feel quasi healthy...) and expected the usual options of "garden or caesar." NOPE! You can order any of the 5 salads that they offer under the "Salads and Bowls" section, just without the protein. And the portion is still a good size. Services was superb. I wanted for nothing and they were jovial, informative and helpful. There is a wonderful patio, street parking and...not sure what else you would want ??? Soho Standard is the main restaurant, from what I gather, and across from the plaza outside of city hall is Soho tacos. Have not tried these other two "Sohos" but now I want to see what they have to offer!
I've been here twice. Each time was a great experience. I always sit at the bar..the bartenders are great! Very friendly and open to indulging my constant chatter. Lol. They serve some great beers on tap as well as wine. Their house red blend is pretty good. I am not a big fan of pimento cheese but their fried pimento cheese balls are fantastic! I tried their grilled steak ceasar salad..very good. Dressing is homemade..steak was cooked well. The crispy parmesan added great flavor. They have a nice outdoor seating area as well. Nice spot.
We got to SoHo Social as a party of 10 and they were very kind and accommodating. Even though we got there during happy hour, we were seated pretty quickly. If you're looking for a quiet place to chat, SoHo is not it. At least during happy hour. But if you want great happy hour deals, SoHo is your place. It's lively and loud but service was still great and food was fresh! They have a rotating $1 beer everyday and 1/2 off some drinks and all apps during happy hour. We decided to try the mini dogs, the pretzel, tots, pimento cheese bits, and Cahaba chicken dip. Everything came out quickly and fresh. My personal favorites were the mini dogs and the pretzel. They don't skimp on dipping sauces either. Each appetizer comes with plenty of options to try out. When it comes to happy hour, SoHo is pretty hard to beat.
I really enjoyed my experience at Soho Social! It's a very nice, chill spot with a great atmosphere. Happy hour is from 3-6 PM, although the menu can be a little confusing at first. Thankfully, our server was able to explain everything and made it easy to understand. I ordered the egg rolls, wings, pretzels, bacon Brussels sprouts, and a margarita. The Brussels sprouts weren't pictured, but they were SO good! Everything came out fresh, hot, and surprisingly quick. The drinks were also perfect and came out quickly. The wings were good, just a little on the thicker side, and the ranch was AMAZING! It had a different flavor than your typical ranch, but it was really good. Even though the restaurant was super crowded and busy, our server did a great job making sure both myself and my guest were taken care of. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back! read more

Nice spot to chat for happy hour. Appetizers are half off. Drinks were good.The food was ok to me. I had egg rolls which had an interesting taste not bad ! The wings had a nice flavor on the outside I just wish they were seasoned on the inside.They do have indoor & outdoors seating! I may try them out for an actual meal. read more
I was originally planning to go elsewhere for lunch but due to a special event ended up here instead. I had been before for lunch awhile back and recalled enjoying it. Seated immediately by the Friendly staff. After a bit of trying to decide, I settled on the Basically Famous Fried Chicken Finger Plate with side of Regular Tots (instead of the Parmesan Truffle) and Street Corn. I had intended to save a couple of the chicken pieces and some of the tots for lunch the next day. But it was so good I ate it all! Even though parking can be a little challenging at the SoHo area, I consistently can find an available space in the underground parking garage. While I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch, they need a lunch menu with smaller portions and pricing for me to come back more often. read more

Overall it was good, ambiance was great but food left something to be desired. The brussel sprouts were super greasy and not alot of flavor. The salmon was good but had way to many sesame seeds. The wings were probably my favorite, however the buffalo sauce wasn't really that spicy. Note the 3 food items and a well cocktial were only $27, so if I lived in the area maybe I'd come back but since I was just in the city fro travel it's unlikely I'll go back if I'm in town again. read more
Yelp! I am back again. This time on a busy Friday night with a party of 5. But, never fear, Chase is here! SOHO, Although you are crowded, He served us with utmost attention and speed. Thanks Chase! Now on to this food! For starters we chose the pretzel and queso add chips and mini corn dogs. Always a YUM!!! Joe Mille and Maya got the Patty Melts, one with sweet potato fries and one with regular fries and street corn. Ty and I got the social stack, his with street corn and I with fries and Brussels. All this stuff is good. Bry-Bry got the pasta! WOW! This Friday night was truly a hit. Outside and inside. The music was Amazing and the kids running around was a treat. read more

We came here a couple of months ago during lunch for a coworker's birthday. Not being from Birmingham and completely unfamiliar with the area, I was glad I rode with another coworker because they knew exactly where to park, which I discovered was a parking deck next door. It was pretty simple after seeing it, but not sure I would have been aware had I been by myself and trying to figure everything out. It was super busy, so service was a bit slow, but it was understandable. Server was great. I ordered the Crab Avocado BLT and it was so wonderful! It was like all my favorite things in one order. The bacon was a bit warm/spicy, but nothing unbearable in the least. The only downside to the whole experience was how incredibly LOUD it was in the restaurant. Like, so loud we could barely hear each other talk at the table. It didn't seem to bother anyone else, but I breathed a sigh of sweet relief when we walked out. But the food was so good, I definitely want to go back. In fact, I'm already studying the menu, planning my next visit! I'll bring ear plugs and be ready to throw down. read more

We went for dinner on NYE with some friends. Enjoyed the Whistle Stop Egg Rolls and Fried Pimento Cheese. Both had a spicy flavor in them without the dipping sauces yet still enjoyable. We enjoyed some libations. I oped for the SoHo Woodford Reserve private barrel selection in an old fashion with my seared salmon wedge salad. Our service was top notch and the overall experience was great for my first visit. My wife had been few times before and she liked it as well. The vibe of the space was great not super loud so you can carry on conversations and still have background noise. Definitely will be back for another visit. Well done. read more
I came here on a Saturday afternoon to grab a bite to eat. The menu was more boring than I recall. I ended up with mini corn dogs which were served with ketchup , hot mustard and queso. I hated the queso as a dipping sauce. No thanks!!! This was a very shareable app. I had a nice nectarine IPA from moody tongue (I think). The server was cool and very accommodating throughout the visit. I will say that it's kind of loud inside of Soho Social. Overall , it's a cool spot to grab a drink. I wish the food menu was more appealing. read more

When my kids and I are trying to think about a place we can meet for dinner, Soho Social seems to always come to mind. It is convenient to downtown as well as the over the mountain area. They have outside seating plus Jenga blocks, cornhole. Plus, the area in front of the Homewood City Hall is a nice place for kids to run around while they are waiting for their family to finish eating. My husband and I really like their craft beer selection as well their happy hour specials. You get 1/2 off all appetizers and drinks (excluding specialty cocktails) Monday - Friday 3-6 pm Regarding food, there is something for everyone. They have really good salads and anything with their pimento cheese is my favorite. Parking can be tricky. My suggestion is to park in the parking lot under city hall. read more
You know when you struggle ordering at a place because there are so many options that sound good? That was my issue here. The menu is great and food ended up being really good!! The ambience was fine, service was great, overall a really solid place. We got the truffle tots, chicken dip, flank steak Caesar, truffle parm wings, burger, harvest bowl. Would come back! read more
Stopped here on a recommendation from a local friend who had wanted to try it. We all enjoyed our meals, and felt sufficiently full when we left! I loved the pimento cheese grits and the whistle stop egg rolls that we shared at the table. And then my dish of the harvest bowl was a great combination of flavors and textures. Loved it! My husband got the shrimp tacos, and we both really liked those as well! The ambiance was super cute and we loved the patio, even though the day we were there was a bit too chilly to enjoy it. My only complaint would be that it kind of felt like our server was rushing us, even though there were plenty of empty tables. We never got asked about dessert, and even though we wanted some, we opted to go elsewhere just because it felt like she was kind of wanting us to get a move on. I'm sure it was just an off day, but other than that, great experience. read more
We sat outside in the shade, and there was a nice breeze blowing, which made for a very pleasant lunch. We ordered a mix of appetizers and shared everything. The pimento cheese balls were my favorite! And the egg rolls were also good. Our waitress was busy but friendly. read more

I've been hearing great things about this places for months now and love the owner Dave Horns the Ridge restaurant so I decided to give this a shot. I got the chicken Caesar wrap with sweet potato fries and their special aioli. The Caesar wrap was about to par with the best of the best (that I've tried atleast) and I it was elevated with the aioli. The sweet potato fries were crispy and nicely salted just like a guy like me prefers so no complaints but at the end of the day not really anything special about it. All in all I had a great experience and will definitely be coming back! read more
