I originally came to The Electric for Pub Poll, but I was incredibly impressed by the food! This small restaurant deserves more hype!! They have incredible sandwiches and sides that are high quality and affordable. I have tried the Camilla sandwich, house seasoned kettle chips, mac and cheese and bread pudding. The service is also pretty fast and the main server that's been working the few times I've visited is friendly and efficient. The Electric offers indoor and outdoor seating, and the patio is covered and equipped with fans to combat the summer heat. I look forward to returning and trying more items from their menu! read more

I stopped by The Electric on a whim, and I'm really glad I did! I got my food to go this time, but I can definitely see myself dining in here in the future. The indoor dining area is on the smaller side, but it seemed like plenty of space for the crowd level when I visited. There's also outdoor seating, which was comfortable and especially convenient with the brewery next door. The bartender offered me a taste of the frozen peach margarita and mentioned that it was made with fresh peaches. You could really tell! It was incredibly refreshing, and if I dine in next time, I'll definitely be trying one for myself--or another cocktail from their menu. I ordered the Hedberg, and while I'm not normally much of a sandwich person, I really enjoyed it. The "205" mustard was a standout for me and added a lot of flavor. The bartender was also incredibly helpful and happy to offer suggestions, which I really appreciated since it was my first visit. I left knowing exactly what I'd like to try next time. Great sandwich (the Camilla), great atmosphere. Service is always pretty fast. I have been back several times and tried the Mac and Cheese and Bread Pudding ... yum! They have indoor regular and bar seating, in addition to covered outside seating. PubPoll on Friday nights is a great time! read more

A cozy sandwich shop that transports you back to the 80s! The menu includes delicious sandwich options, as well as flatbreads, salads, and a variety of drinks. The interior here is truly special, and the staff were all so welcoming. What we ordered: -Bacon Chicken Ranch Flatbread: good amount of toppings; I loved the signature Wattson sauce that was drizzled on top! -Camilla Sandwich: fresh sourdough, yum! Another most EXCELLENT experience. This time I needed to place a to-go order in advance. The online ordering process was extremely easy to navigate. Provided all the needs from preparation, side options and potential extras. Also provided the convienance of specifying a time to pick up later. Came for the $10 lunch special, but called an audible and went for the Barron sausage dog. Don't be fooled. This was way better. The service is walk-up to order. It is in the old Tropicalo space, but it's been updated to the standard hipster cool. Good stuff. read more

Out from seating, with indoor tables. So far me like. The service was spot on and we were waiting on as soon as we entered. We ordered our food and noticed seating in the rear so we went out back. "The electric is soooo good" I hear every time I walk passed the electric. And that's the truth! I've been to both locations and while both a great I think I prefer this one. It has a divey feel to it which I love while still maintaining the OG location's quirky charm. The interior is decorated with an assortment of pictures and trinkets (if you need macho motivation in the bathroom one of them is wrestler themed, or if you're there to cast a spell there's a witch themed bathroom as well) that makes it feel like a true neighborhood joint. They have frozen drinks, mixed drinks and domestic/craft beer which is all reasonably priced and on par with most places. However, while it's a good spot to grab a drink you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't eat. The sandwiches range from unique to basic but one common element they share is pure tastiness. Each sandwich uses different bread but they are all fresh, soft and full of flavor. My favorite sandwich is The Bandit. This is pretty much the only pastrami sandwich I order. The jalspenos and spicy garlic sauce really take it to the next level. read more

45 Minutes for a Sandwich That Should Have Never Existed Stopped in on a lunch break for a simple takeout sandwich. Forty-five minutes later, my order finally appeared. I ordered their flagship sandwich and what arrived was a pile of weirdly shredded, pre-processed turkey that looked and tasted nothing like actual fresh deli meat. Not good. Just wrong. Why does it take 45 minutes to put "turkey" product on a piece of bread? And why does that experience cost $18? To top it off, the interior looks just as uninspired as the food tastes. The Electric is Electric! My first time visit here was outstanding! The service and food exceeded my expectations! I absolutely enjoyed the ambiance too. I sat at the comfortable bar area ; which had outlets for me to plug in my laptop to work while I ate. It's the little things!!! I picked my husband up from the airport and we wanted to grab some food. He's a big sandwich guy so I searched Yelp for "sandwiches" and this place popped up. It was such a fun surprise. It's a tiny little place in a fairly sketch strip mall but he inside was super cute! The food and service were excellent! We had the Pub Sub and the Bandit. Both were filled to the max. We also had the coleslaw which was a nice twist on the traditional mayo based side. I couldn't eat my whole sandwich so I go a box. I ended up forgetting it on the table but the gal working inside ran after us and brought it to me. I thought that was especially considerate. Most would have just tossed it. read more

Everything here was FIRE! It's only 10 min from the airport so it was a perfect spot to grab a quick bite after I landed in Birmingham. The Pub Slaw is def worth trying. I'm a huge fan of vinegar slaws and this one slaps hard. Great service. Very cool vibes as well. read more

Tried The Electric for a weekday lunch, and it was exactly what I hoped for! I got the PBLT (basically a BLT with pimento cheese...yum!) with a side of mac and cheese. Tough choice because there were so many good options! The biggest selling point to me is the Ten Buck Lunch... it's hard to find a good meal for $10 these days! Waited 30 minutes for my food only to find out my order had been forgotten. I had to tell the staff myself. When the food finally came out, there was no apology or explanation just a "here you go," as if I hadn't wasted half my lunch break because of their incompetence. The restaurant wasn't even busy. They also have the audacity to ask for a tip before providing any service. The napkins are barely better than one-ply toilet paper, and the service certainly doesn't make up for it. Very disappointed. I won't be back. The Hoover location is much better. This location is a poor example of how to run a franchise. The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food is gas. read more

Heard good things about this place so I decided to give it a try. Got a carryout of the Boardman sandwich and chips. Not sure if this was just an "off" day or what. The bun was toasted to almost burned, the pastrami was very dry and there was no ranch dressing on the sandwich. Smaller portioned sandwich than I was expecting with a ton of chips - not a good value for the price. Service was friendly but it was carryout so that doesn't tell much. Finally had a chance to try this place after seeing it from Cahaba Brewing (across the alley). The BBQ Chicken Chips were fantastic (and came with pimento cheese) and were a good sharing size.
