Staff is always personalble and friendly. I always get the Philly but tried a burger today. It's a double smash burger, cheesy and a little spicy but not too hot. I think the sauce, onions with the jalapeno, and potato bun really make it! I opt for tater tots but their fries and sweet potato fries are great, too. The bathrooms are spotless clean and they have hooks for handbags and the locks work easily. It's amazing how the little things really make a big difference. Music was upbeat at lunch. There's sports on every TV. On occasion, like a major event like the Super Bowl, they will play the sound of the TV through the speakers. I hadn't been in this area for lunch in a while and had not heard of this place. It had taken over another restaurant we had been to in the past. Met my wife here for lunch and it was a nice surprise. The inside is a little small, so if they are busy, you may have to sit outside. The inside is decorated... festive? And they have TVs on to catch a game if you're so inclined. I got the philly sandwich for my lunch. It was tasty, though I wish they had some slightly better hot sauce to put on it. The Goose is an Avondale staple. I love to lunch here, they have a great Caesar Salad. This Friday, I went for the first time on a late-night excursion. The bartenders are the type to just hang out with you, which I love. They indulged me in making my hyper-specific favorite shot which involves pickle juice and hot sauce. This is a really cool little pub in Avondale. Most of the seating is outside, and we visited on the night of some big football games, so the place was packed. A lot of people are able to walk here from their homes, so it is truly a neighborhood bar. I would characterize the beer menu as limited, but they have enough variety for people to find something they would like. They have a great food menu, and everyone liked what they ordered. Personally, I like the buffalo style cauliflower appetizer (don't judge). Nice and spicy. The fried pickles were excellent as well. Note, order the fries, not the tots. You will thank me later. The only problem is that they don't have any wheelchair accessible parking (which is require by law). One person in our party uses a wheelchair full time, and had to park at the gas station next store. Visited this place on accident. Really wanted to try Saws Soul Food but the weren't open. I wasn't very happy at first. There was a guy there redoing the cable and internet and only one server. It started off badly but got better when the food came. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she said try the Hot Head Burger. I asked what came on it and she said she didn't know so she asked at the window. After the third time she said she didn't know she said she only worked there once a week and hadn't been there a month. Once the food came, things got better. The burger was amazing and the wings were super good and not burnt. Fries come with every meal so you will never leave hungry. We were never asked if we wanted refills on water or soda so if you do go, take your own. Or hopefully there is a real bartender working the bar. read more

This restaurant has been only open a few months and is awesome. It is a fun spot with a very nice patio with shade. It sits on artificial grass and has games out there like corn hole, and big connect four. Some of the tables has umbrellas and there is also fans out there. They have a few parking spots along the perimeter of the patio. There is also free street parking within a reasonable walking distance. That is where I ended up parking. In addition to the patio, they have a small bar that has seating and full service. There is also a small indoor dining area. Bot spots have televisions, The bar may be small, but has 4 televisions covering its center wall. There was no indoor seating available so, we decided to sit on the patio. At first there was only a table in the hot sun. However, Heath, the owner was out there working hard and pulled our table over to the shade and under some fans. The staff there is amazing. They were helpful, courteous, friendly and attentive. Top notch. They do not have signature cocktails, but they do have a full bar with beer and wine. The menu has burger sandwiches, wings. and salads. Most of them have fun names and you will find some exotic items on there. I ordered the Steak Philly (Silly Philly) with fries. The Goose Neck also looked good. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for us to get our food, which was pretty good considering how packed their were. My food was delicious. If I had one suggestion, It would be to put a little more meat on the sandwich. It was still filling and very flavorful. I left there full. I would recommend trying the Philly. The fries were good too, but it is hard to mess those up, but I have seen it done though. The other person with me loved their food too and was highly impressed by the service. Heath runs a great operation here. I throughly enjoyed my dinner here. They are very welcoming here and have some awesome food and an amazing staff. After passing by this place so many times and it being the only thing open at the time, I decided to give them a try. I was stuck between the shrimp Po boy and the smash burger. I asked the bartender which was better and she said the smash burger. So essentially it's supposed to be a party melt (in my opinion) but on regular bread and double the meat. My total came to be 15$ even. And it came with fries which they say on the menus "are on us" and honestly I can see why. Everything I ate was just right below average. The fries were ok, but not crunchy like fresh fries should be. Don't think there was any Salt or pepper, maybe some other seasoning because it wasn't just bland. The burger was once again just ok. There was no flavor. I just felt like I was eating meat and cheese and onion because that's all you could taste. No other seasonings were found. Also the meal definitely was not worth the price. It claims to be a double burger but in all honesty the burger/patty size is MAYBE 1 mm thicker than that of a Wendy's Jr burger. So in total you might get 1.5 times the meat instead of 2x like a REAL double should be. Can't attest to the ambiance because I had it to go, but wish I had eaten in so I could have given it back and got my money. I'm not saying don't go here. But if you do, skip out on the smash burger because you definitely can get better for much cheaper elsewhere. read more

Went to Birmingham for annual guys trip/March madness. Stumbled upon the goose and instantly loved it. Small place inside but multiple TVs to view and they were great about changing TVs to games we wanted. Bartenders were all incredibly friendly. The other people in the bar all seemed like regulars and they were all welcoming to us. During the games the entire place was cheering to make you feel like you were in the arena. We went back the next day with new bar staff that was also incredible. Chicken tenders were huge and some of the best I've had. Jager was cold and flowing well. Food was terrible. Got 3 items off the menu: 2 sandwiches and the triple G. Their sandwhich is served in between a hot-dog bun (hoagie). None of the ingredients seem to be fresh. food is served and assembled, not cooked. The fries are okay but you get exactly the same at McDonalds for cheaper the triple G consisted of 3 cups of soupy watered down salsa, jalapeño sauce and queso. you couldn't scoop them up with the nacho chips. Seems to be taking a slow decline from when they opened. Ordered a steak Philly which was completely overcooked, the steak was tough and the cheese was more stringy than melty and sat in the middle of the sandwich and not evenly distributed. The shrimp from the po boy was also over salted and overcooked. The fries were less than a handful however for the price, clearly we were overcharged. Pros: Service was 10/10!! An angry orchard is only $5, and the gal up front was so sweet and attentive + the chipotle ranch was soooo good. Fries were great also!! Cons: the fried pickles were VERY slim. It was 80% breading and 20% pickle for every single one I ate. If you charge over $9 for fried pickles, they can definitely be thicker. And the tomato, mozzarella, and basil sandwhich I had was just okay. Bread was very soggy from the vinaigrette and there was only 2 pieces of greenery on the sandwich.
