Sam's Super Samwiches is a long-standing institution in the Birmingham, Alabama area (Homewood, Alabama to be more specific). They have a reputation for their hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches (though I wish they could learn to spell it in their business name). Pulling in during prime time for lunch, parking was a bit of a challenge, especially with an armored car blocking like six spots for over an hour. After finding a parking spot, I walked into Sam's Super Samwiches and found that it had a cool ambiance with photos of celebrities lining the walls. The staff was extremely friendly. I asked what kind of hot dog they used and I was told it was a pork and beef blend. I went with the hot dog and a cheeseburger. The food came out in pretty much no time flat. The hot dog and the cheeseburger were both pretty good. The total for both was eleven dollars before the tip. The restaurant was pretty small, but it was pleasant enough. I found this to be an overall positive dining experience and I would definitely recommend Sam's Super Samwiches. Come taste what this community has known for awhile as a solid meal. I will give Sam's Super Samwiches five stars overall. If you are in the Homewood, Alabama area, I suggest that you check out Sam's Super Samwiches.

Great hot dogs but a little pricey. Chili dogs are good with a dash of red pepper found on the tables. Friendly people. Bright place with lots of history on the walls. I enjoy coming here for old school hot dogs. The burgers are good here too but I come for the dogs. The sauce is a little thicker than most but flavorful.

First time here, honestly we aren't sure how to rate it. We are more here or there about it. The inside was small but wasn't very busy at the time so it was fine. The service was basically just order and they get the food out when it's done. The food, we ordered a hot dog and Philly cheese steak. They don't have cheese sauce for your hotdog, only sliced cheese they can put on it. The chili has beans, so if you don't like beans, don't get it. The Philly cheesesteak wasn't bad, small but not bad for $11. The meat is a little frozen thing of meat, but they seasoned it well. The cheese pull was pretty nice as you see in the photo.

Yeah idk how Sam's Super Samwiches made it on the list of top 5 best hotdog spots in Birmingham. I just tried it for lunch and I ordered a chili dog and a burger. Let's start with the chili dog. First look it looked as if someone just piled wet dog food on top. Like an insanely amount of chili was on this thing. Not to mention it was bland so I basically took a bite into pure mush. The burger it looked good but ended up being extremely bland and the only thing I tasted was the sauce they put on it. I just couldn't finish this. 2/5 from me. Go check this place out. I'll be sticking with Paul's Hotdogs, Gus's Hotdogs, and Tony's Hotdogs from now on. Take Sam's off that top 5 list and put Paul's in that spot.

The service and the food was top notch. Fair prices to boot. Shut the front door. My new favorite breakfast stop.

Great Homewood sandwich shop (really it's a burger shop but they make good breakfast sandwiches - my fav is the bologna, egg & cheese).

Soup changes daily and this day was chickpea and chorizo. Nothing life changing about it but it wasn't bad. We walked into a small, dark, crowded dive bar and ordered amongst several other people after waiting in line shoulder to shoulder with other customers. I say this not to complain (because with a crowd like this on a random weekday, they're obviously doing something right) but to take your kids in car seats (‍) with caution. Crowds in small spaces stress me out and it would have been even worse if we'd had the boys with us. I'd also highly suggest going on a day when you can sit outside. There's very minimal seating inside. They do have a lovely, spacious patio that also feels like a garden with plenty of trees for shade. However, they make it clear they don't want dogs there. Parking was horrific. A narrow street with cars on each side. We barely fit through it. If there wouldn't have been an open spot on it, I'm not sure what the next option is because I didn't see anywhere else and this street only held so many. I would dine here again because the sandwiches were fresh and delicious and they obviously know what they're doing! I was pleasantly surprised that they had prosecco as well. Just heed my few warnings and you'll enjoy as well!

This was the perfect lunch. Great flavor, squash, some greens, farro to keep you full (I believe this is an ancient grain), I feel like I checked every box on being healthy for the day. The dressing is delicious and not overdone. They've got bar seating, two tables for larger groups, and then booth seating along the walls. It was about 30 minutes away from my house so I was indecisive if if I wanted to drive that far for food. This place is located in like a mini mall there weren't many cars out in the parking lot and they really weren't that many people inside. But you could tell there's regulars there because when we walked in they were like we don't recognize them lol It is not table service you order at the cash register what we used to call it. They do not have Coke products. They only have Pepsi so I ended up just getting a water. My son got a sweet tea that he liked. He started off with a beer, cheese dip, and that came with pita bread and chips. The server threw some toast and that was really good too. I ordered a cup of the French onion soup and it was delicious. I also ordered the Quattro (Four) cheese flatbread. My son ended up getting the spark burger with mac & cheese. He was dazzled by the burger, but not so much the mac & cheese. I ordered a water. He ordered a sweet tea. I had to ask for a refill for him and I never got a refill for my water. They really weren't a lot of people there so it wouldn't be hard to refill drinks. There is a bar there with a bartender it might be better to sit there so you can get more attention It was definitely a 70s 80s theme in there. In the bathroom, they had a cassette box with real cassettes in there. I really did like the decor. And they do have several TVs in there to watch sports. I'm not sure if I'll be back or not
