I got the number two on the menu. It was a double Patty that was seasoned to perfection the mustard and ketchup combo really reminded me of when I was a kid. The service was wonderful. The staff was friendly and they got my food to me quickly. The inside of the restaurant gives you that old school's 80s to nannies vibe with the arcade games that you kissed still put quarters in and play retro. I will be back. Hubby is from this area, so he insisted I try this place. After doing so, I request to go back often. I just get the classic # 1 with one hamburger patty. It's the sauce that makes these special! I like that these are served with crinkle fires. I also have to top the meal off with one of their shakes. Suggest you go here to say you've been, if nothing else. I used to eat here years ago when my family and I lived in Tuscaloosa. We would drive on the weekends to Irondale just to eat at Hamburger Heaven. Last week I had to go to Birmingham for a business meeting. (A 5 1/2 hr drive). I picked a hotel close by so I could eat here. I went through the drive through to order my wife's and my food and the girl taking our order was extremely rude. She wouldn't hardly even let me order. Then she was rude at the window and just had a very bad attitude. When we made it to our hotel and checked the food it was wrong. I tried to call them but they had just closed. So I had to throw the VERY expensive burger in the garbage and go get something else to eat. The entire reason we stayed were we did was to eat Hamburger Heaven and we wasn't even able to enjoy it. I go to Birmingham once every year and I love discovering a local gem like this !! The name of this place was what caught my attention but after reading good reviews I decided to go. It's not a big place but they seemed constantly busy. This place could use some updating inside But at the same time I really liked the retro vibe ... :) I got cheeseburger which was very yummy and they have this burger sauce you need to try. Burger was ok. What was ridiculous was that this fast food restaurant adds a 4% "Culinary fee" to your order. Whatever that means. Is it for the kitchen staff? Is it to set up a fund for employees to learn how to cook? Just jack up your food prices by 4% and then no one would know. Service as usual was great. We have been eating there about once per week but after this last visit I'll not be returning. I took one bite of my burger and the taste and smell was awful. My other family members said their burgers were overcooked and also smelled funny. I'm not sure if this location has changed the grade of beef they're using or maybe things simply aren't being kept clean but they are a far cry from the Hamburger Heaven days of the past where you could get a really great burger. ​ read more

The last few times I've tried to come here, it was after 8Pm. So , unfortunately, they were closed. Today I made it in before closing time! It wasn't crowded so after looking over the menu , I decided to get the jumbo hamburger combo (#3) with no mayo to go . A very nice , patient woman took my order. She even asked if I would be using any type of military discounts with my order. She was very thorough. She also , typed my debit card number in after several failed attempts at swiping it due to my card being cracked AGAIN! So as you can see, I received really good service and I have a terrible debit card! Back to the meal- the hamburger meat was well seasoned. I wish the tomatoes would have been fresher though; fries were fresh . I ate many of them in the car while driving home. I don't think I would order the jumbo burger again because it really was too much bread . Not really sure what I was thinking when I placed my order. I was really hungry , I guess! I was kind of thrown off by the 88 health score but from what I saw this place seem to be intact. You just never know. I have been here many times in the past and never experienced any issues . The hamburgers are the best and not some frozen premade patties. Everyone is always very nice and they get you your food in a timely manner. We usually go through the drive thru but looks like there is plenty of seating inside and outside. Definitely worth the trip!!! read more

Cashier at the drive thru was very rude, kept over talking while we were trying to order, sighing, and breathing heavy over the intercom with an attitude. At the window she snatched money my friend's hand. She then proceeded to hand me my drink with the top off, not filled up with her hair swinging over it, and I told her to make another one unapologetically. We stumbled upon this place as we were headed west, on 20, and it looked like a shack, but the burgers were great, and they were huge! I ordered a #6( cheeseburger, sauce, pickles, onions, no mayo, and add jalapeños) that come with fries(ok) and a drink for $8. The burger mimics Milo's with a special sauce( mix of ketchup and flavors) closer to Heinz 57 but not as tangy. The cheese burger was fresh fast and beats McDonald's or Burger King any day. While not the best in town it does hit the spot extremely fast. Extra benefits the small restaurant include lots of Auburn and Alabama memorabilia if football is your thing cause this is the South. read more

This wasn't my first time at this location. It used to be my 'go to' when I worked in the area over 15+ years ago. It was a bit nostalgic walking though those doors after such a long hiatus. Nothing seems to have changed over the years. The same tables and same football murals on the walls. I ordered the #1 combo (burger, fries, drink). This is plenty for a normal human being...so If you are considering a jumbo, I wouldn't. The burgers come with pickles, onions, and special sauce. Heaven? I wouldn't go that far...but it's a good burger. The special sauce is tangy and delicious. Not only do I leave it on my burger, but I use it to dip my fries in, too. Speaking of fries, they are fine. Not their signature food, but they are above average. They are a great tool to put extra sauce in your mouth...so that's a bonus. I didn't get these items this time, but they have good onion straws and milk shakes as well. They have other options besides the burger, but I wouldn't waste my time. Be careful though, as addiction can set in if you are not careful. I'd give them a thumbs up. I'd recommend that you come give them a try. I don't think it will disappoint. This is one of my favorite burger, fries and milkshake spots in town. They keep it simple but, why mess with a good thing?! Love their chocolate milkshakes. They have the right flavor and texture that a shake should have with a hint of malt in the chocolate. So good! We stopped in around 1 pm Tuesday, We didn't have to wait in line, but, once we had ordered, we saw the line was to the door. This was our first time. We wanted something quick but not at a chain. We each ordered exactly what we wanted. I got the jumbo burger combo which came with lettuce, tomato, and all the fixins. My husband got the double cheeseburger. It had more meat but not the fixins. The fries were tasty and the burgers were HOT from the fire. We were completely satisfied with the quality, taste, and service. It's been a while since I've eaten or reviewed HH, partly bcz I had given them such a good review before and the last couple of times I had eaten there(coV times) and was hoping it would get better the further we were away from last year's lock downs. I was wrong for given them the benefit of doubt. I ran thru the drive away 11:45am, prime time to get a good hot burger n fries, you would think. The burger taste as though it had been cooked the night before and reheated, the burger was super dense, and over cooked. Tough and chewy is a good way to describe it, not very good. The fries crunchy and greasy, again it taste as though they too had been recooked as to retain as much grease as possible and the edges of the crinkle cut fries were falling off. Again, not to tasty. The Coke was good but the cup was full of ice, giving me little soda to wash down my not so tasty burger and greasy fries. I took a picture of my fries, but could bring myself to snap one of the burger. I really don't like giving bad reviews of local places in IronDale, we have so few to choose from.
