The food is as expected, customer service was good but a little slow. Parking is a pain though. The area lacks adequate parking.

I chose to visit Tony's Hot Dogs in Birmingham. I dined in for lunch to get the full experience…read more Tony's is a small, no frills local restaurant that feels very rooted in Birmingham's history. The atmosphere is casual and nostalgic, with regular customers coming in and staff who clearly know many of them by name. It has that classic American hot dog stand feel that reflects a long standing Southern food culture. I ordered a classic hot dog with chili and mustard, fries, and a drink. The food was simple, affordable, and filling. From a public health perspective, this type of restaurant represents traditional comfort food that is high in sodium and processed meats, which we know can contribute to chronic disease when eaten frequently. However, it also plays an important role in community identity and accessibility. The prices are reasonable, making it an option for people looking for a quick, inexpensive meal. Overall, Tony's reflects how cuisine culture is not just about nutrition, but also about tradition, affordability, and local history. It was a solid experience and a good example of how food connects people in a community.

Just a tiny, iconic hole in the wall that exists for one reason: to serve hot dogs that mean business. When you walk in, you already know you're not here for the décor. You're here because you're craving a hot dog and you want it done right. I ordered the Chicago dog, which showed up looking like it had zero intention of fitting politely inside its bun. This thing was juicy, oversized, and required a concerning amount of napkins. The pickles were crisp, the peppers had the right bite, the mustard was exactly what it should be. Everything hit. The only thing missing was that neon green relish that looks radioactive but somehow makes a Chicago dog official. I kind of missed it. A little. Then I got adventurous. Mistake number one. I ordered the Beef Sandwich, what I can only describe as a sloppy joe with a pickle on top. It sounded bold. It tasted... fine. Not terrible. Not memorable. Just sort of there. It's like I betrayed the hot dog gods and they let me know. My colleague went with the burger, which Tony's is apparently campaigning as "best of" material with the local news crowd. He said it was decent and a great value. High praise in burger language. Now the onion rings? Absolute perfection. Crispy, golden, and cooked exactly the way onion rings should be cooked. No notes. If I had stuck strictly to the hot dogs, this would've been an easy five-star situation. But I strayed. That's on me. Four stars. Next time, I'm staying loyal to the dogs.

From the very first bite, the flavor was amazing savory, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. It was easily one of the most delicious hot dogs I've had. The restaurant is small and has a true mom-and-pop feel, which makes it even more special. Despite its size, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and efficient. I chose takeout, and my order was prepared quickly. While waiting, I noticed the health score on the wall was a 96, which added to my confidence in the quality. The place started getting crowded, which was another good sign. Gus's may be small, but the food is outstanding, and I will definitely be back again.

Service was okay, though when I asked what kind of hot dogs they used, they had no clue. I ordered two hot dogs. The total was over eight dollars and honestly, the hot dogs were not good. The chili was weak and the meat topping looked and tasted like it had been out way too long. The hot dogs were also low quality. The ambiance was decent enough. I can't see myself returning.

I had been trying to get my hands on some Sol's since before Easter. Unfortunately, they don't answer their phones. So annoying! The day I visited for lunch, it was packed. I had no issue with my order but there's definitely a more effective way...... My 2 hotdogs (well done) all the way were fantastic!!. Fries were just okay. Skinny and borderline greasy. I still ate them all up! lol Next time I will dine in instead of eating in the car. Highly recommend. You are certain to take in the rich history they have created within the walls of Sol's hotdogs!

After about 10 minutes our order was brought to our table. Season fries had garlic and Parmesan. Hit and crispy, they were excellent. Burgers were juicy and well seasoned. Veggies were fresh and tasty. Craft sauce was mayo based and had a nice flavor. Tater tots were fresh and hot. Overall the meal was excellent! Loved the burger. Staff were helpful and friendly. Trying to find a booth that was clean to eat at was hard. Every time we come we have to navigate several wet floor signs in the dining area. The booth seats are also torn/ripped and I didn't want my toddler crawling all over it or eating pieces of it. I found a booth with good seats but I had to wipe the table. My husband came back with "the least dirty high chair" that I also had to wipe down. The burgers were smashed pretty good, definitely seems like the slice of cheese has shrunk to where you can't even see it peeping out from under the bun. The serving of fries and tots were minimal and disappointing. After the meal, my husband went up to get the custard that comes with the kids meal and a cookies and cream concrete-- why does that take almost 10minutes to make?
