8pc Wings Combo hot w/ regular fries

Out doing a little shopping with the hubs & decided to try hot spot since we were in the area & I had them bookmarked to try very clean establishment with plenty to choose from on the menu but we came for the wangs I got hot & the hubs had the sweet & sour wings great flavor & dripping with sauce just like I like it however my wings weren't fried to my liking they are kinda soft the fries were seasoned well but they were soft as well nothing my air fryer can't fix but I'll remember to request that they're fried crispy they have boba tea which I'm not a fan of but you can get any of the teas & lemonades without it the staff was patient and friendly with explaining the menu food was ok and I'd more than likely give them another shot

I tried the daily special of two fried catfish filets for 6.99. The catfish filets were very large. They were cooked to order so piping hot. For my side I ordered onion rings. The rings were a generous portion, and again fried-to-order so served piping hot. Kudos for hot food and large quantity. The ambiance and service is very simple. Counter order, self-service drink station, and bus you own table. My experience was okay, it is convenient and fast. But I don't think I would go out of my way to dine here.

Stopped in for a mid week lunch. Hardly anyone in the place. Located about 25 yards from the Chic Filet on Montgomery Hwy, HotSpot is a hole in the wall. Decor is quite simple with college flags/banners on the walls. There are about 10 4 top tables to choose from with a self serve soda and lemonade/ punch dispenser on one wall. They remind me of the place Wings are King in Hoover. They have a large and varied menu with a little bit of everything from burgers, gyros, fried fish, to wings. Paul C and I got their fried catfish. After getting our own drinks and sitting, we were called to counter to pick up our food. They were served in simple styrofoam containers. Everything was disposable including the cutlery. The two large filets of catfish were steaming hot and tasted on par. I've had worse fried catfish. I had a generous portion of fried okra fried from frozen but again they taste on par. I tried some of Paul's fried onion rings which also tasted okay. If you see the trend you can guess that a good portion of their menu is fried from frozen. Oh both our meals came with a slice of white bread. The atmosphere was quiet while we were there and the food was on par. Because of its location near me I may revisit just to check out their wings.

I only tried the fried whole wings. They were good. The best in town is still Jakes Soul Food but these were good too. They are small, not a lot of meat but they were well seasoned. I think I asked for extra crispy but these were lightly breaded. They had some good simple spices on them. I asked for Buffalo sauce on the side but was told they only have hot sauce packets. Decent price $12 for 6 whole wings fried fresh. I'll be back to try other stuff. It was solid and good. Will update later.

I came here because my sister said they had some good wings. So I went inside to order. There wasn't anyone there but it was raining. It's very clean inside and spacious. They have a lot on their menu from chicken, wings, fish, and even dessert. The service didn't take long and the food is made to order. The staff was friendly and quick. I ordered Honey BBQ wings and Cajun fries. They even had juice, so I got the punch, and it was good. I really enjoyed the food, and even though it wasn't busy, I'll definitely come here, especially when football season returns. So if you are in the mood for some, please stop by.

Yelp you came by recommendation. You are the new kid on the block in Hoover. Upon entry, you are clean and smelling good. Today is Wednesday and daily specials are pork chops and fries or 2 piece catfish and fries for 6.99! Yelp! A steal indeed. And, folks are buzzing about your pork chop sandwiches and wings. Today, they are on special. Mommy and I got one of each. She got the pork chop special and I got the catfish special. We decided to split it. Oh wow, catfish is fried to perfection but it just taste okay. However, pork chops are amazing. Catfish taste like Swai. We are fish lovers, so we can easily tell the difference. DeeDee wanted to try your egg rolls and declared YUCK at the look of them. She couldn't eat them. Mommy bit one and said gross. Y'all are so nice here, but we come for this food. I want to try your wings, so, I'll be back.

But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!

They have a wide variety of specialty burgers, hot dogs, and sides, and I feel that I could try something new every time I come here. I chose to order the Vulcan hot dog, named after an infamous monument of Birmingham. I love how they have so many different types of hot dogs with varying toppings to make your order truly personalized. I chose the spicy option with jalapeños and it did not disappoint! Also, these are the best fries I have had in Birmingham if you are looking for a plant-based option here. When I ordered, I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. She told me it would be right out, and my order was given to me within 5 minutes. Besides the great food, the ambience is the best part of this place! There is an upstairs area with additional seating, and the interior of the restaurant is covered with vintage, American decor. The walls and decorations really sell the All-American vibe associated with burgers and hot dogs. If you are looking for a new, local burger spot that feels like home this is a great option!

Parking is primarily street parking in the area, but there is also a public parking deck nearby. I'm unsure what the current cost is for the deck, but it's worth knowing if you're visiting during a busier time. I ordered the fish tacos with black beans and chose the cheese grits as my second side. Everything tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The real star of the meal, though, was the sweet potato cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could've eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn't bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? No. But there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially that sweet potato cake that nearly made me consider ordering dessert first next time.
