We came in to the guy cooking on the grill saying the grill was closed. Ok so wings and fries only. We ordered a 10pc hot lemon pepper w/ ranch fries and a lemonade. I paid and the the girl walked off. The receipts came out and I tore them off to sign it. The girl came back and smartly said. Wing places are among those kinds of businesses about which the debate over which is best will likely go on forever. I will therefore avoid making any claims about this one being the best. I will say however, that over numerous visits to Exotic Wings and Things over many years, that I've always had a consistent, predictable experience and that it has never been bad. The menu has a few interesting things aside from the wings that are worth a try. A fried bologna sandwich anyone? Order it. You've got nothing to lose. Anyway, they've got all kinds of flavors for the wings, so you're good to go there. I usually tell them to give me teriyaki and to shake the lemon pepper stuff on them as well. Lemon-yaki...that's what I'm talking about. Fries come with a nice seasoning and can sometimes be too hot to immediately eat, so that's good. The wings are always crispy and delicious, so that's good too. Prices are well within reason, so don't go in there expecting to spend a lot of money...you just can't. They keep some pieces of cake wrapped in plastic wrap on the counter...get one, you'll be glad you did. They've got an awesome mural on the outside wall of what appears to be several cartoon chicken wings with eyes and faces and maybe hands...I'm not sure...but in spite of the actual stillness of the mural I seem to think of them as dancing a bit and welcoming you in to enjoy your wings. Strange maybe, but unique for sure. 4 stars instead of 5 for just a few reasons. 1) they never give you enough napkins, and the napkins they use suck. They should follow the lead of Saw's BBQ and get those amazing blue paper towels. 2) Parking can be easy if the place is slow, but if its busy it can be treacherous. 3) It is, has been, and maybe always will be virtually impossible to get a refill on your drink. If you're the thirsty type you may want to bring that up to them and stay on them about it or you'll be slurping an empty cup for most of your meal. In spite of those things, its still a pretty good spot. Consistency goes a long way for me, and the price to value ratio for a meal here is dead on. The place looks to have new owners. It's nothing like it used to be when it first opened. The wings were too big and they weren't cooked "hard" as I requested, so they were spongy. They do give you more portions due to they put the fries in a separate container. I go here for the mild due to it being a "homemade" recipe which is sweet and tangy. The keekee pooh punch ironically wasn't that sweet so it may have been a bad batch. I may give them a try again but I'm going to specify they double fry them unless they use smaller wings. read more

A very popular wing establishment here in Birmingham. For me this place is pretty good. There are several wing places in the area. Where I count off is the appearance of the building. It's a little dusty lol. It's blue and yellow and honestly just looks like they just keep a bucket of grease and put wings in them lol. I do like the Cajun ranch wings which are very flavorful and cooked well. I always get the 6 piece combo with fries and a drink. Always does the trick. Wings, fries, everything (except the napkins, wtf are those?) the last two times I've gone the wings have been small and no extra sauce in the tray at all. Where do they find these tiny wings?
