I have not reviewed this place in a while. Not a fan of Jack's hamburgers since they changed to a couple a thin patties on the Big Jack. That used to be the best fast food burger. We'll now their chicken fingers are probably the best tasting but the are small. Today I had the two piece chicken dinner with a breast, wing, mashed potatoes and green beans. It came with a fresh biscuit. This was really good. Chicken was fresh and crispy. Potatoes were good and beans were seasoned well. Biscuit was crumbly and tasty. I've visited several of these Jack's locations across Alabama and this is one of the most clean locations. The food is quick to be served and they're relatively quick to serve you too. A friend of ours suggested we meet at Jacks for milkshakes. The last time I visited a Jacks restaurant was at the Eastwood Mall location when I was a little kid with my mom. I had never been to the Homewood location, so I thought this might be a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I was happily surprised that they offer old-fashioned milkshakes that are actually hand-dipped, hand-mixed and made with actual ice cream. Stopped in on Saturday morning for breakfast for the hubs. Long drive-thru lines prompted me to go inside. Bathroom was the cleanest restaurant bathroom facility I have been into in a very long time. Friendly staff handled excessive crowd with smiles and fast as possible service. read more

This location does not seem to handle mobile (online) orders very well, even though they have been offering them for a long time. I pick up in the drive-thru, and when I get to the window, they always start by giving me the total for someone else's order and I have to correct them and tell them I have mobile order. Also, they frequently leave something out of my mobile orders. It's usually something small, but today it was both a side item and a sandwich. They seal the bag with a sticker, making it hard to check the order before I leave. But I guess if I order there again I will have to take the time to open the bag and check everything before I leave. read more

This place is crazy at lunch time! Cars backed up down the street waiting to use the drive through. Inside, really isn't any better - long line of people waiting to place orders and what appeared to be an exceptionally understaffed counter (1 person) taking orders. Everyone was friendly enough, just plan on it taking a few minutes if you get here at a particularly busy time (breakfast/lunch/dinner). Really all this stop was for was to grab a sweet tea for my drive, sweet tea was typical Jack's sweet tea. Price is a little spendy for a large ($2.19) but surprisingly it's less than a lot of other places. If I was in the area I'd come back and try the food if I was hungry. I don't normally come to Jack's, but this Jack's in Homewood is pretty decent. The inside is nice and actually gives off a more cabin like feel which seems more inviting than your standard fast food restaurant. I picked up my order to go of chicken fingers and fries. My food was cold by the time I had a chance to eat it, but 30 seconds in the microwave solved it! No soggy fries so I think I saved them in time. The chicken was just okay, not the biggest chicken tenders but not the worst either. The cashier was nice but I was not given ketchup, mustard, nor my receipt so little things like that should have gone smoother in my opinion. read more

I had to change my review to one star because I came here during breakfast this morning and there was a long line in the drive-through. So I opted to go inside thinking that'll be quicker. Boy was I wrong. I looked around and there was a wait in the inside as well. I approached the counter and the cashier turned around and said I'll be right with you. I stood at the counter for about five minutes looking around trying to figure out what was going on. A line began to form behind me. The cashier continued to get orders and put them on trays without acknowledging any of us as the line began to grow longer and longer. taking anyone else's order. Finally after about five minutes I asked her, excuse me are you taking orders?? Finally she said "may I take your order"?, but didn't seem to happy to be doing so. I ordered a chicken biscuit. Just one chicken biscuit that's it! I waited 10 minutes for me to get that one chicken biscuit. As I waited l, starting talking with the other customers. One was telling me how she observed the drive-thru moving quicker than the inside. Another was saying how this was store # 1 and how they should be an example for other stores.... The only good thing is, that the biscuit was hot....but other than that the wait time was ridiculous! Jack's breakfast is good, but the customer service isn't. Spent almost 25 minutes in the drive through. Most of which was sitting waiting for someone to take an order for the other 2 cars in line. I am so disappointed in these Jack's Hamburger, Jack's has a great product but their service sucks. This is the Jack's in Hueytown, AL 35023 and Bessemer, AL 35023 and Pleasant Grove, AL 25127. There must be a new owner and HE IS CLUELESS to what is going on. The employees are clueless to how to run a fast food restaurant. This is not just a one time stop and shop for me I love this place until ???????? I don't have a idea of what has happened. I asked for a 10pc family meal and the woman at the drive through said they didn't have enough chicken to fill the order... mind you, it was 5 in the afternoon. So I asked "then how many pieces of chicken do you have?" She says "Eleven..." Soooo Eleven pieces of chicken isn't enough to put into a 10pc? And WHY are you running out of food so early in the day? Finally get the order and get home... the chicken tasted HORRIBLE. The meat was rubbery and the crust was hard! It was also very salty. The mashed potatoes and biscuits were good, thus the 1 star. Very poor service and immature staff. I placed an online order which was not ready at pick up time. The staff had an attitude when I asked about my order. Like I had no right to expect it to be ready on time. I had to wait 30 minutes. The order was for a women's homeless shelter which has strict rules on when food can be served. The women almost lost breakfast altogether thanks to Jacks. The cook shook his head when I asked about my order. The ladies at the front made a scene when I snatched a bag to fill with jelly. For the Jack's Homewood location, off 19th st. s: Some of the employees there are so rude! Drive-thru and lobby both, but mostly drive-thru. They're short with you, practically throw your food at you, and act like they have better things to do than, you know, work. I understand that fast-food probably isn't glamorous, but a smile wouldn't hurt every now and then. The food is usually pretty good, so props to the kitchen staff. Y'all keep it up! Jack's is a local franchise that serves hot, fresh fast food at a price unmatched by even McDonald's. This is my favorite location, as it is consistent, very clean, and the staff is always friendly. The chicken tenders are hand-breaded with a thin, crispy exterior, although some might find them a tad salty. I like to get the plate with two sides (coleslaw and fries) and a house-made biscuit. The burgers are a fresh, made-to-order variant on standard fast food. I recommend the Double Cheeseburger - two thin patties, chopped onions, pickles, cheese, and Jack's Sauce (a ketchup-based sauce). The fries are fat crinkle cuts sprinkled with orange fry salt, and they are almost always fresh out of the fryer. If you're wanting something sweet, try one of Jack's fried pies (Peach is great). read more
