We were in the area and stopped by for dinner. Small hardware store type vibe. Clean and quiet. We were created quickly even with the small line waiting to order. Limited menu, which is not a bad thing. Pick your "thing" and do it well and you will succeed. We chose the cheeseburger and the craft burger with tater tots and seasoned fries. We grabbed a drink and a high top table while we waited. They seemed fairly busy for a Thursday evening but they moved quickly and served efficiently. After about 10 minutes our order was brought to our table. Season fries had garlic and Parmesan. Hit and crispy, they were excellent. Burgers were juicy and well seasoned. Veggies were fresh and tasty. Craft sauce was mayo based and had a nice flavor. Tater tots were fresh and hot. Overall the meal was excellent! Loved the burger. Staff were helpful and friendly. If you have not been to The Craft Burger then you are missing out. I believe they have one of if not the best burger in Birmingham. And the specialty craft fries with the Parmesan cheese and spices are superb as well. I say all this but on this visit I decided to get the Philly cheesesteak and tots. Came here on a Wednesday for lunch to try for the first time. I had passed by this place several times and have always wanted to eat here. I'm not a huge burger person, but I will say that cheeseburger was very delicious. I just got the single cheeseburger and my son got a pimento bacon cheese cheeseburger with fries. The french fries were OK. There was quite a few people there during the lunch, rush. I will definitely be back again. I did like that they had tables outside as well. I decided to try something new today for Friday dinner. I heard about this restaurant on Yelp, and other Yelpers said it was recommended. They were SO right! This restaurant is at the corner of Valleydale Road and Caldwell Mill Road, a few spots down from Publix. It is a really cute place. When you walk in, the grill is right there. I was greeted immediately, even though they were working hard. I was asked if I was the online order, and they had it ready for me, front and center. I ordered the build your own burger (with pimento cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion, mustard, and BBQ sauce with the seasoned tots. I got the Chicken Philly and side salad for my husband. Then I ordered two Caesar salads for Saturday's dinner. They look so good! I got home and fixed plates. My husband was not scheduled to come home today from his conference, but he is coming home tonight. I tasted his sandwich and it was flavorful. I think he will really enjoy it. My burger and tots were amazing! The burger fell apart while I was eating it because I had a lot of toppings on it. Each bite was delicious and I totally cleaned my plate. The tots were tasty also. This casual cooked order hamburger joint has a good vibe, perfect for hamburger dining. It lacked signage to show where to place your order. I ordered their signature, the Craft Burger to go. It comes with not one but two slices of American cheddar cheese, sliced red onions, pickle, and their special Craft sauce. Fortunately, they wrapped the hamburger in waxed paper, making it easy to eat while driving. The meat was delicious, perfectly cooked, and slightly smashed. Overall, I deducted stars because the burger was too salty. Also, the Craft sauce was not remarkable. Yes, it's quietly tucked into a strip mall in the suburbs just around the corner from Publix, but that does not in ANY WAY diminish what they're doing here. The Craft Burger is two perfectly crispy smashburger patties with grilled onions, melty American cheese, and Craft Sauce. I could literally eat Craft Sauce with a spoon! (Get extra, because you'll want to dip ALL THE THINGS in this stuff!) I love their seasoned fries and seasoned tots, but they also make these absolutely incredible chips in-house that may be my favorite chips ever. Really enjoyed checking out the Craft Burger- it's a down to earth place that cooks great burgers of all varieties. With options for singles or doubles, you don't have to break the budget to get a good meal, and their season fries were to die for. We heard about Craft Burger after their win the the Birmingham Burger Battle. We go try out the winning burger each year. And this burger does NOT disappoint! We got the classic cheese burger, a single and double. I added bacon to mine. The toppings were fresh and flavorful. All the flavors are nicely balanced. Our sides were French fries and tots. The seasoning on the fries is a huge win! It's Rosemary, salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese!!! They will add the seasoning to the tots as well. The most surprising moment was we also ordered the muffuletta hot dog. It's a 10/10 all day long. It's everything a muffuletta sandwich wants to be. The service was quick and everyone was very kind. Wow! My first trip to Craft Burger today. I have been missing something. Best. Burger. In. Town. The meat was obviously fresh ground and cooked with just the right amount of char. Fresh tomatoes and lettuce. A great soft bun. Hot off the grill. I shared some tatter tots and seasoned fries with my wife. I love tater tots and the dipping sauce for the fries was excellent. We went at lunch time and it was a bit crowded and a bit noisy, but not unacceptable so. Kudos to whoever selected the music playlist which played softly in the background. Really loved to eat both the hotdogs and hamburgers, but the last time I went it seems that something has changed with the hotdogs.
