Walked in and felt like I went back in time a little bit. The restaurant feels like a homey local diner. The serve staff is really nice and welcoming. We love visiting this local eatery for Saturday brunch. Centrally located in Pelham off of Highway 31, they have all the classic greasy spoon breakfast comfort dishes you know and love. Staff are friendly and it is a great way to start the weekend. read more

Looking for something new to try, I found myself at Bama Burgers. As I entered I was asked if I wanted breakfast or lunch (11:00 am). I let them know lunch which determined which menu I received. Taking a seat anywhere I wanted the waitress was at my table really quick. Gave her my drink order (Sweet tea - really was on the bland side as far as sweet tea goes). Overall look and feel of the place is classic diner. She came back by a few minutes later and let me know that my burger would be out in a minute. Bacon, cheese burger with lettuce and onion with a side of onion rings. (Note: Burger prices don't include a side, you have to order those from the sides menu - additional $1.99 to $2.99). Onion rings are very reminiscent of what you would have if you made homemade onion rings. Nothing special or fancy or added to the batter, but fried to a good golden crispness, just a little burned on a few. The burger though, I really wasn't impressed. When I picked it up the bottom bun was so soggy it just smeared into my hands. Actually ended up removing 50% plus of the bun. The patty was really ok at best, it had a little 'special seasoning' but it really just didn't work for me. While I was eating the waitress let me know that she would be right back to top off my drink (almost empty), however she never returned to my table, so ended up without something to drink for the last part of the meal. I had wanted to try this place for awhile so maybe I had built it up too much. Overall, I really wanted to like it here, but it just missed on all aspects for me. To be totally fair, they were about at 50% capacity as far as customers, and several people seemed to be liking their experience (environment and food). The best I can say is it's adequate. We tried the burger and 2 hot dogs. Burger was dry and unflavorful. Hot dogs were... Ok. Not great but better than ones from a gas station. Loved the buns and melty cheese. Best service I've had in a long time tho. Crazy. Literally would be a 2 star but the service alone was worth it to me. Low prices, great service, adequate food. A group of men (4 to 6 of us) have breakfasted at BB for more than two years. Occasionally we have eaten at other morning diners, but we always return to BB. Recently, BB changed management and operations are not the same as before. Breakfast orders take a longer time to prepare and not quite up to standards I had become accustomed. For example, I always order three eggs scrambled and at the past two visits the eggs were undercooked - and at the last visit broken eggshell bits were mixed in. Not a crunchy delight, I must say. I write this not to condemn but to provide an incentive to new management to get better control of their output. I will return. I know that it takes time to run a smooth organization - but hopefully not too much time. The servers are excellent and they are very attentive to their customers and I look forward each week toward seeing them. They are tireless workers. BB has a fairly large customer base. Our group meets at 7:00am as well as another larger group in the back room At 8:00am, especially this morning, a large number people arrived to dine in. BB also has many call-in orders. I wish the new BB management well and I look forward the time that I give them five stars. read more

Just passing through town and found a great place with home cooking. Crispy fried okra and butter beans go great with hamburger steak or a small breaded fried steak. Friendly and attentive service. Very fair prices. And a pink cake for dessert. We'll try to stop here again. read more

You walk in and see them pressing fresh ground beef on a great big flat top, the way it should be! Get the redneck burger! Pimento cheese bacon caramelized onions and and fried green tomato! I love a good ole fashioned diner style breakfast and this is just the place to get it! There are plenty of choices on the menu and includes all of the standards expected. Everything is cooked fresh on a good ole fashioned diner grill, food was good and hot when it came to the table. Really good and classic southern grits, the gravy is great and love the bisquits, just the right size and tender. The eggs were prepared just as I love them, like I would do them at home. I have tried the smoked sausage, bacon, and sausage patty and all were really good, would like to try the bologna next time, used to love that as a kid! I like that they often have fresh fruit, none off that thrown together and in the cooler for a week where it all taste the same, this is fresh fruit cut fresh, very pleasant surprise. Love the french toast it is dipped in a very eggy mixture and just slightly sweet, not just brushed with egg, and you can add cinnaman sugar and powdered sugar if you want. The pancakes are big and fluffy and full of flavor, very good pancake. I'm a hot dog nut so next time I'm going back for lunch and try the hot dog. The service was fast, very friendly, and efficient. I never had to ask for refills and they had plenty of drink choices. I loved the coffee, very smooth and full of flavor, served hot and they kept me full. They were busy the whole time we were there so we aren't the only ones who have found out about the good food here! read more

Ate here a few weeks ago. My son wanted a burger and I was tired of the chain burgers. I definitely would not say this was the best burger I have ever had. I asked for ketchup and mustard only because my kid is picky(go figure) and it had everything on it. On top of that it was cold.Needless to say he wouldn't eat it and I had to. Good clean burger joint. Nothing fancy but still nice and delicious. Loved the fries as well! The girl that took our order seemed displeased that we took longer than necessary to look over the menu but there was not anyone in there either. If you're looking for a gourmet burger, don't come here. But if you're looking for a REALLY GOOD burger that isn't your standard run of the mill, come! They have a good variety of flavor combos to choose from and they're all decently sized and taste pretty darn good! Love the Bama Royale.
