I really enjoy coming to creekside bbq! So do many others, as this spot is voted one of the top places to eat by bham yelp. I had a late lunch here recently on a Friday. It wasn't crowded initially but the crowd later picked up. The staff is ALWAYS quite friendly here as well as accommodating. I wasn't in the mood for bbq so I had the smash burger instead. OMg!!!! This burger is sooooo good - every bite was a flavor punch to my tastebuds!!! I love that they use wickles pickles on the burger. AMAZING!!! The fries were hot & seasoned to perfection. Dining in was a bit of a challenge since there were a few flies that made their way inside. I absolutely cannot stand flies sooooooooooooooo that was the only thing that made this visit a little less enjoyable. Everything else was great! read more

Pulled pork sandwich- holy moly! Perfection. Family had a variety of other bbq dishes but I think hubby's brisket stole the show. Only thing I wouldn't order again were the grilled grits (cold square of grits covered in Gouda seared on grill- sounds amazing but tasted like mushy, overcooked Mac n cheese). They were also out of ribs! Disappointed Wonderful atmosphere on outside deck, plenty of TVs and service was impeccable. Dog friendly! A family member was passing through Birmingham and had their large breed dog with them. Saw that Creekside BBQ was dog friendly. We enjoyed a wonderful meal on the patio/deck. Relaxed, casual dining with a lovely side porch that parallels a creek which makes you feel a world away from your cares and life's hustle and bustle. The wood pile and billowing smoke out back says legit smoked meats are here. Flat screen TVs would make this spot an awesome game day destination! My Pulled Pork sandwich was DELISH and full of wonderful Smokey flavor, crispy pork edges and tender pork interior meat. The side of fried green tomatoes was good and the ranch like sauce I could have drunken it was so tasty!! It had fresh herbs-so good! You order at the counter, take a number and they bring your order to you. Plenty of options for kids with a side, drink and cookie included for $8. My first time coming here was after we moved to pehlam. The staff is friendly and they always make sure you have everything you need. It's in a great spot with easy parking. The Ambience is nice and very chill. There is a lake in the back area of the restaurant. The food was pretty fresh and tasty. My husband likes the burger , that's his go to. I usually get the ribs with fries, their barbecue sauce needs to be bottled up and sold it is too tier. I definitely recommend this place for a quick bite or maybe even family night. Now I will say the chocolate chip cookies are not good at least to me, it wasn't really sweet I couldn't finish it. read more

Good people serving up solid BBQ at an easy to park location just off the highway. From KC, I yearn for good bbq on the road and this was 7/10 for me. Pretty good. The highlights of my 3 meat meal were the brisket, pulled pork, and smoked grits. Each was packed with flavor and what you want with a little unexpected goodness too. The ribs were dry and tough but has the right rub and smoke...just didn't agree with the sauces which were sorely needed. The original red sauce is a bit thin and tangy, perfect for pulled pork but not much else. The white sauce is ok, probably great on the chicken items. We are visiting from the Los Angeles area and were looking for a dog-friendly place to eat. I'm so glad we stopped here! The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Our server brought out all of the sauces they had to offer and we were checked on multiple times throughout our meal. I've been seeing this place pop up on my search quite a bit and decided to give it a try. The location is convenient to most highway traffic, which is a plus if you don't live in the immediate vicinity. There is ample parking available. I received a very warm and friendly greeting when I walked inside. They have indoor and patio seating available. Great place for small group dining or like me, solo dining. You're required to order at the register and your food will be brought to your table. I ordered the three sides plate, which is reasonably priced in comparison to other non chain restaurants. The sides did what they were suppose to do...fill you up. The portions were great. The taste of the food was ok. The food was not bad. Again, I only ordered side dishes. The meat looked great on the plates of those seated close to me and they stated that it was good. Go ahead and give them a try! read more

My favorite BBQ in the Birmingham area...I always take visiting team members here because I know they will leave happy.

We come here often every few weeks to get ourselves some burgers. This is the first time we have sat on the outside dining and it was so nice and peaceful. With a crisp 70 degrees outside it was great to enjoy our smash burgers and fries. I enjoy it because it feels like just the right amount of food. Not too much , and not too little. They were fully packed out tonight and still managed to get our food out to us within 10 minutes which made us happy, because we expected a longer wait. I had the wings, my husband had the ribs. Neither of us were impressed with sauces. The ribs were not baby backs and fatty, the wings too big and tough skin. One of our concerns was the handling of food. Although gloves were used, they touched many things with the same pair of glove. Even cleaning off tables. I had seen Creekside passing by on the interstate for a few years and today was the day I tried it. It is already an improvement over Awful...I mean...Waffle House. It's really impressive the work they have done and they added a porch out back. You order at the counter when you walk in. They give you a number and pick your own seat. Drinks are self-serve. Service does pick up your tray afterwards. I went with 2 meat. I would have went 3 meat except they were out of brisket at Friday lunch. The ribs were exceptional! They had a really smoky rub to them and were easy on the jaw. The pulled pork was solid. It was tender and fresh. There are 2 sauces. I enjoyed the mildly sweet but tangy brown BBQ sauce. It went well with the ribs and pulled pork. I love white sauce but I didn't enjoy Creekside's white sauce. There was something about it that I couldn't figure out. It needed more bite or tanginess to it. The sides were not bad but I felt they needed more. The corn casserole was basically cheesy corn dip. It needed at least crackers or bread crumbs on top to make it more like a casserole. It was pretty bland. Feta potato salad sounded amazing but it also fell flat. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Creekside got the meats right. The sweet tea was perfect and the brown BBQ sauce was great. There is enough sides to try that I believe I would find a better side on my next visit. read more

Good is delivered to your table. Menu includes a variety of BBQ'd meats served as sandwiches or plates with a variety of sides. There is a bar with select spirits, wines, and draft beers. Just the consistency of food quality alone is enough to keep me coming back even though there are hundreds of restaurants between Vestavia and Oak Mountain State Park entrance. I'm so surprised they have a 4.4 rating and not a five star rating. As I pulled up, I was concerned because it was behind a truck stop. Parked easily and walked in to easy order and sit at the bar. Pulled pork, collard greens, and mac and cheese. All of these were on point and really well done. Even the toast was perfect. Bbq sauce was fair, and added to the well done pulled pork. Peer sauce on the collard greens that were perfect. Literal plate of garbage. Passing through Birmingham and didn't want to drive the 20 minutes to Saws. What a mistake. Pulled chicken was obviously reheated and bone dry. The ribs were completely chewy and rubbery instead of fall off the bone. Wings were decent. Corn casserole was ice cold from the fridge and the smoked grits were tasty but had too and bottom burnt layers. D- despite the other ratings. For a Friday at 4pm, the place was completely empty. Cute place right on the creek with outdoor seating. Food came out quickly, even with the large group I was with. And everything looked amazing. I was happy to be able to buy barbecue by the pound or half pound. And quite impressed that they had pork belly on the menu. I am not local, but I will be back next time. I am in town. I also thought their white barbecue sauce was very good compared to some others in the area that I have had. I did read another review that somebody posted the brisket was fatty. Creek side bbq is an underrated gem. It's the perfect spot to eat at on nice day, especially if you sit outside on the patio along the creek. The food is good with just a little extra twist than what you're used to seeing at other bbq joints. Creekside BBQ is just off of Interstate 65 and is a great place whether you are in the Pelham, Alabama area or just passing by on the highway. I had passed by this place countless times over the years and today I was craving barbecue and decided to give Creekside BBQ a try. The restaurant is located next to a creek, hence its name. They have a nice outdoor seating area and the inside is pleasant enough, as well. Let mebalso add that the staff here are incredible. They are sincerely friendly and just add to the overall experience. I ended up going with their half chicken and for my two sides, I went with collard greens and baked beans. The chicken was great. The sides were good, but the sides did not achieve greatness. Maybe it was just what I ordered because I saw a guy getting a burger with French fries and the French fries looked amazing. Again, the chicken was fantastic. Add to that the exceptional service and the cool vibe and this place was definitely a winner. Creekside BBQ is a true Alabama gem. The FRIED GREEN TOMATO SANDWICH is perfectly constructed. The bread is toasted well and the tomatoes are fried to perfection. The BRISKET is seasoned and smoked well. The PULLED PORK is moist and flavorful. The SMOKED PORK BELLY is a must order; they remind me of Cajun cracklins but moist and tender. The SMOKED RIBS were very meaty but not fall off the bone tender as you'd hope for. The SMOKED WINGS are fried with a nice crust yet juicy inside. As for sides, the MAC AND CHEESE SHELLS are indulgent and creamy. The COLLARD GREENS are tender but a bit sweet for my liking. Maybe add some smoked meat to it while the greens braise? The FETA POTATO SALAD was tangy and savory. The COLESLAW has a perfect balance of dressing and cabbage - not too soppy. The CORN CASSEROLE was sweet, crunchy, and cheesy. And, you'll find that enticing aroma as soon as you set foot inside of Creekside BBQ, located just off I-65 where it intersects with Hwy 119 (on Oak Mountain Park Road). Polite and welcoming service (step right up when you're ready to order)...find a seat and your food will be delivered to your table quickly. Legibly written menu (yes, for us "old folk" it's important that we can read the offerings.) Food: pretty straightforward BBQ...tender VERY smoky (love it!) beef, chicken, pork and standard sides). Then, like the movie title....the Good, the Bad, & the Unusual. (nothing ugly here). Good: RIBS - tender; corn casserole (golly, that was really good); the lightly smoked CHICKEN 1/4 bird white - moist and tender; mac and cheese - ooey gooey "goodmess." Bad: BRISKET - served in chunks (like just the burnt ends ?) on a roll. FRIED GREEN TOMATOES - hard (!) and rather flavorless. coating was crisp if you need a positive to this negative. Unusual (and difficult to describe) - heavily smoked GRITS. I loved them; wife hated them. (check our photo for visual....hard to describe the gray/brown morass filled with a delectable delight.)
