I've been seeing this place pop up on my search quite a bit and decided to give it a try. The location is convenient to most highway traffic, which is a plus if you don't live in the immediate vicinity. There is ample parking available. I received a very warm and friendly greeting when I walked inside. They have indoor and patio seating available. Great place for small group dining or like me, solo dining. You're required to order at the register and your food will be brought to your table. I ordered the three sides plate, which is reasonably priced in comparison to other non chain restaurants. The sides did what they were suppose to do...fill you up. The portions were great. The taste of the food was ok. The food was not bad. Again, I only ordered side dishes. The meat looked great on the plates of those seated close to me and they stated that it was good. Go ahead and give them a try!

Loaded potato almost gone.

Nice experience. Food was good. I had the loaded potato. The service was very nice and hospitable.

I had seen Creekside passing by on the interstate for a few years and today was the day I tried it. It is already an improvement over Awful...I mean...Waffle House. It's really impressive the work they have done and they added a porch out back. You order at the counter when you walk in. They give you a number and pick your own seat. Drinks are self-serve. Service does pick up your tray afterwards. I went with 2 meat. I would have went 3 meat except they were out of brisket at Friday lunch. The ribs were exceptional! They had a really smoky rub to them and were easy on the jaw. The pulled pork was solid. It was tender and fresh. There are 2 sauces. I enjoyed the mildly sweet but tangy brown BBQ sauce. It went well with the ribs and pulled pork. I love white sauce but I didn't enjoy Creekside's white sauce. There was something about it that I couldn't figure out. It needed more bite or tanginess to it. The sides were not bad but I felt they needed more. The corn casserole was basically cheesy corn dip. It needed at least crackers or bread crumbs on top to make it more like a casserole. It was pretty bland. Feta potato salad sounded amazing but it also fell flat. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Creekside got the meats right. The sweet tea was perfect and the brown BBQ sauce was great. There is enough sides to try that I believe I would find a better side on my next visit.

This is a really cute spot right outside of Oak Mountain State Park. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating faces a creek. You order at the register and seat yourself. Good is delivered to your table. Menu includes a variety of BBQ'd meats served as sandwiches or plates with a variety of sides. There is a bar with select spirits, wines, and draft beers. There were enough vegetarian sides to make a veggie plate. All the food was good. We'll definitely stop by again! The staff was very friendly. My menu questions were answered. He made suggestions on vegetarian options and draft beer. The food was cooked to order.

Best wings on the planet

As a local, I'm telling you: Creekside BBQ has the BEST buffalo wings on the planet. Full stop. These aren't your average wings. They're smoked low and slow, flash-fried for the perfect crispy finish, and then tossed in Creekside's signature homemade buffalo sauce -- a recipe so good, it deserves its own fan club. It's tangy, spicy, smoky, and just sweet enough to keep you coming back. Not bottled. Not basic. 100% made-from-scratch. And get this... they're just $1 each every Saturday. No gimmicks. Just legendary wings at a price that feels like highway robbery (in the best way). Whether you're a wing snob or just wing-curious, this is your sign: Go to Creekside. Order the buffalo wings. Order more than you think you need. You'll thank me later. #CreeksideBBQ #HomemadeBuffaloSauce #WingRoyalty #OneDollarWings #HelenaEats #BestWingsEver #SouthernBBQPerfection #LocalLegend

Everything always goes very well there. Just the consistency of food quality alone is enough to keep me coming back even though there are hundreds of restaurants between Vestavia and Oak Mountain State Park entrance. I'm so surprised they have a 4.4 rating and not a five star rating. I grew up in the restaurant industry in Louisiana and consider myself talented In quantity and quality control as well as ambience in the dining areas. This amazing little Creekside BBQ has everything for everyone. It's a staple of my "go to" places. Onward and upward to the next exploration!!! All the best, Ron' Williams Founder/Owner Cāblz Inc

I was looking for some Alabama bbq. Pulled pork. Not the usual Birmingham suspects. I found this place as it was on my route to my hotel. As I pulled up, I was concerned because it was behind a truck stop. Parked easily and walked in to easy order and sit at the bar. Pulled pork, collard greens, and mac and cheese. All of these were on point and really well done. Even the toast was perfect. Bbq sauce was fair, and added to the well done pulled pork. Peer sauce on the collard greens that were perfect. What more could you ask for? As you walk in you come right to the register and order, take a number and the food is brought to you. The place is chill. The grill and food prep are is very clean. Some additional seating is outside. They bragged on the brisket. Next time for me.

Great spot, glad we stopped on a road trip to Fla. it was busy on a Sunday for lunch but hey got us taken care of with ease. We sat at the bar right in front of them preparing everything which was fun. Everything looks great. Had the brisket, Mac and cheese and the corn pudding. All good but corn pudding stood out. Burgers and fries looked good, maybe next time.

I lived off of this place for the past month. Conveniently located close to the entrance of Oak Mountain State park. The food and service were always top notch here. They sponsor the local Bmx track and give back to the local cycling community. Definitely will be back anytime I am in the area in the future.

Cute place right on the creek with outdoor seating. Food came out quickly, even with the large group I was with. And everything looked amazing. I was happy to be able to buy barbecue by the pound or half pound. And quite impressed that they had pork belly on the menu. I am not local, but I will be back next time. I am in town. I also thought their white barbecue sauce was very good compared to some others in the area that I have had. I did read another review that somebody posted the brisket was fatty. I enjoy fatty brisket, so I was happy with mine, but it was fatty.

I go here almost once a week. Great neighborhood spot with delicious food and a wonderful staff…read more I like almost everything I have had from here. Here are some of my favs and why... Brussels sprouts. Tender and crunchy at the same time! I don't know what that sweet and tangy sauce is but it is delicious. Pork and greens. This is the quintessential dish. You must have it. Get a bite with all four components, grits, pork, greens, onion straw, and a little sauce. That's almost a perfect bite. Fried okra or squash. The fried okra (only when in season) is some of the best fried okra I've ever had. Tacos! A new item. The sauce is great (I stick with mild) and I love the brisket for my meat. Mac and cheese. Some of the best in town. So creamy and cheesy all throughout with a nice toasted cheese top. Wings! Some of the best in town. Banana pudding. Kind of thick with a nice whipped cream mixed through. Pork sandwich, baked beans, and greens are some other go to items for my family.

There are two kinds of restaurant experiences: the ones where the food saves the service, and the…read moreones where the server is out there fighting for their life while the kitchen is playing dodgeball with expectations. Saw's BBQ in Hoover landed squarely in category two. Chaz was fantastic from the jump. Attentive without hovering, knew the menu cold, steered us in the right direction, and honestly should probably be given partial ownership based on effort alone. Every recommendation he made ended up being the best thing we ate. We started with the fried green tomatoes, and buddy... the breading fled that tomato like the crew abandoning the Titanic. One bite and the whole crispy shell just slid off like it had somewhere else to be. Underneath was a tomato wondering how things got this bad. Not a strong start. The pulled chicken showed up next and somehow managed to achieve the culinary equivalent of elevator music. It wasn't bad. It also wasn't anything. Just sitting there existing on the plate with absolutely zero personality. If beige were a flavor, this would be its flagship product. Then Chaz's recommendations started rolling in and suddenly the kitchen remembered they could cook. The fried pickles were outstanding. Crisp, golden, crunchy, salty in all the right ways. Exactly what you want fried pickles to be. The fried okra though? That was the star of the night. Whole okra pods instead of those sad little slime coins you usually get. Crispy, seasoned well, breading actually staying attached like it understood the assignment. I could've eaten a bucket of those and started negotiating take-home rights. The okra saved the evening. Finished with the banana pudding, which was light and airy and a nice way to wrap things up. I wanted a little more banana flavor punching through, but it still worked as dessert after the rollercoaster happening before it. So here's the deal: Chaz earned every dollar of that tip. Some of the sides absolutely delivered. Some of the main attractions felt like they were clocking in emotionally from home. Would I come back? Yeah, probably. But next time I'm skipping the identity crisis chicken and just ordering every fried thing Chaz points at like he's conducting a very delicious orchestra. An average experience overall.

We were greeted promptly and took a few minutes to look at the menu. I LOVE roast beef, so it peaked my interest. My wife chose the Smiley burger. We placed our order and grabbed a seat. Place was quiet even though it was probably 75% full for lunch. Roast beef was served hot in toasted sour dough. Cheddar, tomato, lettuce and horseradish topped the generous portion of roast beef. Bread was crisp and the beef was hot and juicy. Horseradish gave a nice tangy flavor. My wife's Smiley burger was hand patted. Juicy and perfectly cooked. Bun was soft inside and nicely toasted in the outside. Bread and butter pickles, onion, tomato and lettuce topped it off. But the star of the show were the fries cooked in beef tallow!! Hot and salty, crispy and a deep flavor. I would come back just for the fries. Although a little bit pricey for lunch, it was excellent! Staff were friendly and attentive! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back! Thanks for an awesome lunch and excellent experience!

Unfortunately Archie's not convenient for me, so I don't get to Archie's nearly enough. But I know where to go when it counts! I purchased 4lbs of inside and outside mixed meat today, and a quart of sauce with extra pickles. Everyone eating all said the same thing. Delicious ! The ole fashioned home-made fried Apple and Peach pies remind of my grandmother's, she used to make these fried pies for the "Real" Original Golden Rule in Irondale when it was across the street, from the current Irondale locations many years ago. The beans and coleslaw are also excellent. I think Archie's may have some of these vintage photos inside if my memory serves. I grew up with my grandad standing me on the kitchen table as a toddler while he made up the original Golden Rule BBQ Sauce in gaint pickle jars. The jars was bigger than I was. I still have this original Golden Rule sauce recipe that Archie's uses. They do an excellent job! Nothing has changed at this location but the name. Still the best BBQ in town. The complete package. The servers always do a great job, those that take and fetch to go orders from the parking lot are really efficient. The only constructive advice I would give is this owner, is to Keep Up The Work ! And get setup for delivery! So how some way! Somehow being able to pay online so pick ups can be made by others for delivery. Double your business!
