Sweet Tea Fried Chicken Smoked chicken thighs

The good: Staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful Vibes were a downhome, unique local bbq joint The menu has bold combinations like sweet tea fried chicken Dippable white Alabama sauce and Nashville hot sauce were fire The less good: The chicken itself was actually pretty average without the sauce, and the fries were just okay The menu in-house and above the counter, even the new specials menu did not show accurate prices, descriptions. Ex. 5 chicken thighs for $15 ended up being 4 for $18 Overall a fun experience, but if I separate the food from the good vibes and service and did a blind taste test, it really wasn't any tastier that a typical bbq chain you can find in any big city, and at almost $50 for a (large) lunch for one, it was even more expensive Service: 10 Vibes: 9 Food: 6 Value: 4 The type of place I'd definitely go back and give another shot when I travel through, but probably wouldn't go to consistently if I lived near one. Maybe it was just an off day for them though, bc I've heard great things

I love Saws!!! This location is so convenient for me but I always miss the opportunity to go when it's open. I made it today!! The staff were cool and definitely matched the vibe of the restaurant. They reinforced our orders letting us know how great our choices were. The Pork n Greens was really good! I only wish they would be open longer!

This was my first time at this location. In fact, I didn't know this location existed until recently. My experience was awesome. The customer service was great. My food was ready fast. It was hot, fresh and delicious. Unlike the Avondale location, parking was a breeze. Not a single complaint.

This spot is dear to me because it's close to my home. While they were closed for several weeks during the pandemic they're back open now and serving awesome BBQ. I order their specials constantly. Brisket sandwich, smoked meatloaf sandwich, etc...always check out their specials.

Came here with coworker for lunch. He ordered the Loaded Pork Baker and I ordered the Pulled Pork Plate. Both were delicious. One of the best pulled pork place ever, considering I come from NYC. Also the food price in here is way cheaper than in NYC. In here it was $15.5 per plate whereas it would cost around $30 in NYC. If I lived in here I would come here every day for lunch. I'd say this is one of the greatest hole in a wall places for food!

I have had this bookmarked forever. Not sure how or why I did, but I sure am glad that I did!!…read more It's an old school hole in the wall kind of place. These are my favorite kind of places in the world. From the moment I walked up and saw the big piles of wood outside I knew I was probably going to like this place. We had an amazing meal here. Every single bite was good. I ate myself damn near sick! I cannot wait to come back!! The day we were there the bartender was waiting on the whole place himself with just someone helping him run food and clear tables. We only had an hour before we had to be at an appointment, so when we sat down at the bar I got concerned that we would not have time to eat here. He was busy. He seemed behind. Thank goodness I was wrong. Once he finally got to us we were decided on our meals. He took our order on his little handheld register thing, grabbed our tasty beverages, and poof, off he went. C had the pulled chicken sandwich with deviled eggs and I had pulled pork, smoked chicken thighs, beans, and a giant pile of pork rinds. Holy shit it was good!!! I didn't pay attention to the fact that my thighs had AL white sauce on them until well after I had ordered. Had I know that, I would not have ordered them. I despise all things that have anything to do with mayonnaise. But.... Had I known, I would have never known. I fucking loved it! I could have eaten 10 of them. There were hands down the best smoked chicken that I have ever had. The pork was bad ass too! I dare say perfect. Beans were great, and the pork rinds side was massive and still warm from the fryer with a killer seasoning on them. There are not enough adjectives to describe this food. I am in love. I cannot wait to get some more of those damn chicken thighs!! '26 - 68

They also added in some of their sausages for us to try as well. Here is a tip - if you want brisket, go early. I got the last of their brisket and the pop-up market was only halfway through! Took everything home and we had a FANTASTIC dinner. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was good! It's crazy!! Party of 6 in our group and everyone loved it! Everyone had different favorites, but all agree everything was excellent. Going to have to hunt down that food truck again soon!

I have worn the same Pepsi hat to every restaurant, gas station, casino, gift shop, and livestock auction from Missouri to Montana. It's basically my formal wear. So naturally, when I saw a place called Eugene's, I nearly drove into the parking lot before I finished reading the sign. The young man taking my order immediately complimented my Pepsi hat. Folks, that bought more goodwill than any rewards program ever could. I told him I've worn this hat across 47 states and through three separate back injuries. He nodded like he understood the responsibility. I ordered the hot chicken. Now listen. I love chicken. I don't mean normal people love chicken. I mean if chicken ever ran for president, I'd volunteer for the campaign. This chicken was good. Real good. Crispy, juicy, enough heat to remind me I'm alive but not enough to make me start seeing old ex-boyfriends. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I built it up too much in my head. A restaurant named Eugene's serving chicken to a man named Eugene? That's a lot of pressure for one meal. Still, I cleaned my plate, adjusted my Pepsi hat, and rode off into the sunset like the gay cowboy God intended. Great job fellas.

And good thing I did! I looked at the menu and honestly wanted to order everything cause it all sounds good. I don't eat much so I went with the two piece chicken tenders kids meal. The lady who took my order said they have a regular chicken tenders meal but I said I wanted the kids meal cause I don't eat a lot. She then said "It's the same amount of food." which, ok cool, but I don't think that should be said cause they can lose out on money. Just my opinion. And FYI, I very often get kids meals cause I really don't eat a lot. Not trying to save money or anything. The meal came with two chicken tenders, sauce, fries and a drink. Fries were good. Nothing to complain about. Those tenders tho.....YUM!!! So much flavor. And the ranch I got with it....yes! Not sure when I'll be in Birmingham again but I will 100% go back and try other items!

A menu board sitting in front of the truck had their menu for today. They had BBQ pork sandwiches, pork plates, rib plates, bbq nachos, wings, roasted corn, bbq beans, pineapple lemonade, and more. The service here was fast and friendly. The prices are about what you would expect for bbq. I got the bbq pork sandwich for $9, the rib plate with two sides -roasted corn and beans- for $18, and a pineapple lemonade for $4. Two people for $36. The amount of food you get is very generous. The bbq pork sandwich was pretty basic, just pork and sauce, but it was huge. Pork and sauce poured over the bun to fill the biggest portion of the to go plate. The meat was tender and juicy and is somewhere between pulled and chopped. The bbq sauce isn't overly sweet and has a spicy kick. It's not a hot sauce but if you are sensitive to heat, you may want to choose something else. There is a bit of after burn. My mom couldn't eat it due to an extreme aversion to spice but I had it later for dinner and I enjoyed it very much. The real star for me was the rib plate. These ribs were huge, tender, and moist, with just enough bite to keep them from falling off the bone. They are rubbed with spices and you have the option of bbq sauce, which I got. Get plenty of napkins because you will need them. These are some of the best ribs I've had in a while. I wanted to suck the bones. My sides were roasted corn and baked beans. Both of these had a little kick of heat to them, so once again, if you can't stand spice look out. Both side items were delicious. Let's talk about the pineapple lemonade. When I saw it was $4, I almost skipped it, but am I ever glad I didn't! This lemonade is so refreshing, sweet, and smooth I could have happily finished off a gallon or more. It's very sweet and there is little tang. It was so worth it. If you see this truck, get over there quick, you don't want to miss out.

Order bowl of Gumbo for appetizers. We went on and provided our entree orders at that time as well. We waited about 25-30 minutes a different person brought out our order. I ask the server to take the gumbo back, as we had order that as an appetizer. In a few minutes our original server brought the gumbo back to our table. I told her we had ordered that as an appetizers, the server apologized and said it had gotten "Lost in the kitchen, keep it, I'll take care of it". About the food, wife ordered salad with chicken. The salad had 4 large fried chicken tenders on it. I order the sirloin tips over rice. Overall tasty, but gravy was a little salty. Dish included some green beans as well which were tasty. Overall experience was ok, service a little slow which I don't understand with the lower population in the dining room. When I got the check, the gumbo was still on the ticket. Not sure what "I'll take care of it " meant, not what I expected. I paid for it without saying anything else. Actually it was pretty good gumbo. Paid the bill, left a good tip, as the server seemed to be running her legs off. Going back? Probably so, but it'll be a while till I do.
