This is the best bbq spot within driving distance of the Birmingham area and it isn't even close. There are plenty of places that I love, that have delicious things on their menu, and I know that there is always going to be a lot of debate about which bbq is best. I'm not debating. There's no debate. It's a fact. No one is smoking meat like Austin Whereabouts. Everyone else needs to go and take a class from this guy. Texas style brisket, ribs and sausages all top of the line. Pork belly burnt ends...over the top. Competes with the best in Dallas, Houston or Austin. So perfectly smoked and so tender. It really doesn't get better. Try it for yourself. Beef ribs avaliable on Saturdays. Will be back for one of those ASAP. Seating indoors and out, plenty of space for groups. Fountain drinks, sweet tea, decent mac and cheese. Order and pay at the front, grab a table and wait for your plate. Friendly people, easy parking, clean space, prices that are more than fair and better than what you might expect for what you get, and bbq that you will not forget. Go out of your way for it, it's worth it.

We finally made it to Austin Whereabouts after missing our planned Memorial Day weekend visit, and it was absolutely worth the wait. We originally hoped to dine inside, but the place was packed, which speaks to its popularity. The focus here should be on the meat, because that's where Austin Whereabouts truly shines. The undisputed star of the meal was the Saturday-only Beef Rib. It was everything you want in Texas barbecue: incredibly tender, easy to pull apart, packed with smoky flavor, and finished with a beautiful peppery bark. If you're visiting on a Saturday, order it. That's all you need to know. My wife ordered the Texas Trinity, and all three meats delivered. The brisket was moist and flavorful, the spare rib had just the right bite, and the sausage had a satisfying snap with balanced seasoning. Good across the board. The sides were less impressive. The baked beans were easily the best of the bunch and tasted like enhanced Bush's-style beans with thoughtful additions. The loaded potato salad, street corn, and mac and cheese were average to fair. We also sampled the white sauce and didn't care for it. I enjoyed the house barbecue sauce, while my wife wasn't a fan. Next time, I'd skip some of the weaker sides and double up on the baked beans or give the regular potato salad a try. Bottom line: Go for the meat. The Beef Rib alone is worth the trip, and the barbecue program is strong enough to keep us coming back.

The service was OK. They weren't rude, but they weren't very hospitable. We didn't get that "they are super nice" feeling. Food was OK. The turkey was really good (flavorful and tender). The sides were OK. Our biggest complaint about the food was the temperature. The warm food wasn't warm enough. The cold food was a good temp. I like time concept. The vibe is really chill. We decided we'd give it another try in a few months. They've only been open for 2 months.

Location- 6530 Pocahontas Rd Bessemer Food- I ordered a brisket plate to-go. Comes with two sides and Texas toast. The brisket was tender with a prominent smoke ring and good bark. Dipped in their version of bbq sauce that was thin and dominant in vinegar. Just enough to compliment without being overbearing. The sides stole the show. Not your typical beans. Pinto beans with onions in a pineapple based sauce was phenomenal. The second side was the (corn elote) street corn had a delightful jalapeño bite along with cotija cheese. Simply wonderful. Service- expedient and friendly. Ambiance- BBQ themed with appropriate decor. Value- the meal with tax was $20 I believe the price was within the range for a brisket plate. I am confident the quality was worth the price paid. Impressive and a must try. I look forward to another visit in the near future.

Somehow I found this place on Yelp a few days ago. Being brand new with only one review, it was at the bottom of the list of BBQ spots in the area. I did some more research and knew my dad and I had to come check it out. I am so glad we did. Even with the 40 minute drive, it was worth it. The smell of the smoke had us salivating right from when @firetaster and I stepped out of the car into a PACKED parking lot. We joined the lengthy line that snaked around the inside of the building all the way back to the drink station. The anticipation was high as we slowly moved to the front. We both got the Texas Trinity plate, which comes with three slices of brisket, a spare rib, a link of sausage and two sides. The brisket is out of this world for even the leaner side of it is packed with flavor. Extremely tender, it falls apart with ease. Of the three meats, the rib is probably my least favorite, since that is the only one I decided to use their bbq sauce on, but it's still delicious. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is divine. Whoever first put cheese inside sausage is a genius. My dad got baked beans and coleslaw and I got mac & cheese and street corn. All the sides were great except for the coleslaw. I had one bite of the coleslaw and personally found it to be too sour. If you've ever had the mac & cheese at Panera, this one is very similar. Very simply with a very creamy white cheese sauce. We also got the pork belly burnt ends to share, but we regret that because you should know we did not finish all this food. The burnt ends were covered with a sweet sticky glaze, which pairs really well with the smoky meat. I love the aesthetics inside. The place is nicely decorated. The only thing that detracted from the experience for us was the music. A few country songs played, but we noticed a lot of Taylor Swift songs which did not fit the vibe. Some more distinctly southern songs in the playlist would help bring everything together. I'm going to be telling all my friends and family about this place. What a wonderful addition to the barbecue scene in the Birmingham area. I'm so happy for all the business their getting and I hope they continue to gain momentum and solidify themselves as one of the go-to bbq spots in Alabama.

Quick, friendly, and some of the best BBQ ever! I was so full I had to take the banana pudding home for later.

Heyyyy ya'llllll!!!!!!! Hurrup and run here! Get here around 10:30 to 11:00 on a Saturday because a line is already forming. The service is fast and the do run out of food because it is delicious! They are serving out of the food truck until the restaurant opens soon. The surrounding area is nice if you want to sit outside and eat. The ribs are tender and fall off the bone, the brisket is juicy and tender, the sausage is very flavorful. The steer corn, potato salad and baked beans are delicious. So come by and get a couple plates. The prices are very reasonable.

Just had their new pit boss hamburger! It was delicious. Burger is made from brisket pimento and cheese with crispy onion and barbecue sauce. This is one of three of their new hamburger selections. They must try.

Texas Trinity-The sausage is hiding under the bread.

As a transplanted Texan, I had my doubts. But this is the most authentic brisket I have had this side of the Mississippi in years! I got the Texas Trinity and the brisket was marbled and moist (order marbled to get the fat), the rib was tasty, and the sausage (jalapeño and cheese) was flavorful with a little kick at the end. I liked the slaw because it wasn't super sweet and the corn was fabulous. The only thing that I didn't care for was the sauce. It was too sweet and had maybe a molasses taste? You will have to wait in line and don't come too late because when the meat of your choice is gone...it's gone.

Brisket, Cole slaw and potato salad.

When we walked in on yesterday evening, we were immediately greeted and told that we could seat ourselves and we would be helped shortly. A woman came by our table with menus and told us about what we could order from the bar. I was completely sold when she told me she had an alcoholic drink that included Boba, which was called Boba on the Beach. It was really good. We looked over the menu which had a nice variety of Asian fusion type dishes. We placed our order and it didn't take too long for us to get our food. Everything was flavorful. The service was good so I'm sure we'll be back to this restaurant soon.

Last weekend me and a few friends went to check out Glass Panda Asian Street Food for my birthday…read more Here's how my experience started. From first look this place looks pretty cool from the outside to the inside. The pictures and painted walls were esthetically pleasing. I could see many people taking photos all around that place. Even the bathroom had a cool Panda picture on it. We were also informed by staff that there is a lot more to be done there. Of course we ordered tons of food but I will only be speaking on what I ate there. Let's start with the Korean Corndogs. I got one regular and the other one covered in blue Takis. The regular one was good, hot, and crunchy. They don't really look like traditional Korean Corndogs so visually they don't look good at all I would definitely recommend them do it the traditional way if possible. However the way they stack it is great. How most K-Dogs are done you have the cheese at the top and the hotdog at the bottom. Here they do cheese meat cheese meat like a kabob and to me that's how all K-dogs should be. I definitely preferred the original one over the Taki one. The OG gets an 8/10 and the Taki one a 7/10. The scores would be higher for both but I knocked a point for the presentation and the Taki one didn't taste like Taki at all and in my opinion I would have used hot cheetos instead. I also tried the Korean Fried Chicken nuggets and those were really good. The flavor was there and so was the crunch and that juicy chicken. Highly recommend these (they also have regular KFC drumstix/legs). 8.5/10 Next up the Bulgogi Bao. The buns were super soft like pillows which was a great start. The meat itself was good but could have been just a bit more tender. When you eat bulgogi beef it should nearly melt in your mouth. With that said whatever the sauce that was used was a bit salty but not inedible. I also would have preferred a cold slaw in there besides lettuce to help cut the salt with the sauce. That sweetness of the slaw would have made a huge difference. 6.8/10 Everything else that was ordered according to my friends was well received and we all left with empty plates and only 1 Togo box. Final thoughts: I will definitely come back here to eat again no question. I would love to see takoyaki added to the menu as well as some street food dessert items I could name a few. But this place was great. The staff was awesome and took time out to speak with us and gave great back story about the restaurant as well as some great recommendations. The drink menu is awesome to with lots to choose from, from milk tea all the way to alcohol. Service alone was 10/10 great staff. Decor was 9.5/10. If you have not been here yet please go check this place out. I'm already ready to go back!

Because of the intense Alabama heat, we chose to sit inside, though they have a really nice screened-in patio available. The restaurant is intimate but well laid out, featuring a couple of distinct dining areas and a bar. Since it was our first time, our server, Daniella, recommended the candied bacon bombs to start. They came with a side of cheese curds, and both were absolutely delicious. Even as small as the curds were, they had a perfect cheese pull! For our mains, I ordered the cowboy burger with an added egg and a side of sweet potato fries, while my son chose the shrimp and grits. My burger was incredible, a solid 9.5 out of 10. My son rated his shrimp and grits a 7, though he has a lot of experience with that dish to compare it to. Daniella provided fantastic service, checking in at just the right times without hovering. I later realized I forgot to ask if they do anything special for birthdays, but honestly, my son was probably glad I forgot! This Cousins food truck is from Birmingham and has been to the Fly Wheel craft brewery a few times in the last year. The staff seem like a nice crew, always friendly.
