I hadn't had Eugene's in a really long time. That being said, I was happy to see their food truck posted up outside the Alys Stephens Center on 10/15. I ordered my usual hot Jumbo tenders with fries. My food was fresh and didn't take long. Although the fries kind of needed a little salt. I requested bbq sauce and they were out. They gave me 4 ranch dipping sauces.... Yeah, a bit excessive for sure! Oh and they left off the pickles! Service was kind of all over the place. Not sure what was going on here but no biggie. This will always be one of my fav food trucks. Yum!!!

Great chicken, fries, and slaw. Seating area is small and kind of funky, but it just adds to the vibe. Different levels of spice are nicely described, and accurate on the menu board.

Rushed over before noon to beat the rush and thankful I did as they were hit and it was a madhouse by 12. I loved it. I couldn't hear it was so loins in there and as it turns out neither could the waitress as my order was all wrong. They were sweet and as quickly as possible was served my chicken wings with collard greens. The place was nice and inviting for either a quick pick-up order or to sit inside or out. I chose outside and it was nice, not too noisy although busy roads close by.

I ordered the 6 wing meal and added an extra side. I paid the extra $1 to have all flats which I'm glad they had this as an option. The chicken: I ordered mild and it was seasoned and fried perfectly. They make their own in house dressings for you to dip the wings in and I had the blue cheese. The coating on the chicken is crisp and the meat was juicy. The Collard Greens: seasoned just right with a little kick of hotness. I wish there weren't as many stems in them, but I could look past that because of the flavor. The sautéed corn: HOLY HOLY this was the best part of my meal. You can tell that the corn was cut fresh off of the cob. It was sweet, buttery, seasoned and sautéed to perfection. I only wished they had this in a large portion, or that I would've ordered 2 servings of it. I highly suggest this as your side if you love corn. Small spot for dine in, so don't bring a large party in to sit down. The staff was very friendly and greets you with a smile. Definitely will be eating here again when I return to Birmingham

Quarter Dark Bird w/ Fried Okra and Mac

The pick up process at this buzzy spot that serves Nashville-style hot chicken was super smooth. We literally parked, walked over, grabbed our labeled food pack, and were back in our car within a minute. While I've been told that some of the entrees come glossy and sauced, my Quarter Dark fried bird was equipped with a dry spice rub. It was super tasty, with juicy, soft meat inside a thin battered crust. I got the second spiciest option, but it was more lip-numbing than actually fiery -- if you have a respectable spice tolerance, you can easily go for the highest setting. The flavor of the chicken was pleasantly sweet, with lots of brown sugar to go with the pepper and chili. The white bread underneath absorbs some of that lovely spicy oil and seasoning. Only downsides were that the crust was a tad bit soggy and didn't stay adhered to the chicken, though this may have been our fault for letting it sit for about 15 mins before eating. The fried okra was decent, but we weren't a huge fan of the fries. The Mac n cheese was slightly sweet, but I enjoyed the savory, creamy side. Eugene's gets a thumbs up from this out-of-towner. Next time, I plan to get the spiciest sauce and also probably do the half bird since I found myself craving more when I had finished.

The food truck came to my apartment complex and the service was legit awesome. I ordered just about one of everything from their menu and everyone in our family was satisfied. The Alabama White BBQ Sauce is scrumptious. Super delicious food. Get you some!

Excellent fried chicken. Takes a few minutes but worth the wait. We stopped in during a big sports event and the staff never blinked.

Would a party of 5 and a highchair be too tight for indoor seating?

Where is this place? I drove around in circles looking and couldn't find it.

The menu looked interesting but we weren't hungry at the time. He asked me to pull over and he would give me and my son some samples. We chatted for a few mins then he gave us both a homemade tortilla chip topped with smoked salmon a crawfish tail some roasted corn salsa and cheese sauce. My son doesn't eat seafood. Like at all. He ate tail first then devoured the rest. I did as well. I asked him if he wanted some nachos and he replied Yayyah (Lil Jon voice). So we got some kid nachos. He loved them and I snacked on his left overs which were delicious. When we got home later that evening I started looking for Leo on IG, yelp, etc. I saw he was grilling some patty pan squash topped with fresh Maine lobster. I told my wife he mentioned he made some fire vegetarian nachos so I headed back down to see if could catch him. There were several folks there when I arrived. Picking up slabs and fixins, plus some sandwiches. I saw the prime rib on his IG an it looked so good I had to try a wrap. He grilled up some fresh asparagus to top my wife's nachos as well. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The pepper sauce on my wrap was spicy and the roasted corn and prime rib were tender and smoky. It was an epic portion of food. No I mean seriously the vegetarian nachos could easily be an appetizer for 6-8 ppl. I am really excited to have met Leo and I can't wait to go back. He also mentioned that if I have clothing or shoes to donate his foundation needs them and he would take them there at the truck. I told him I would put a review up on yelp and be back soon. Please check out his social and support and donate to the foundation. 24kchef.leo. And good thing I did! I looked at the menu and honestly wanted to order everything cause it all sounds good. I don't eat much so I went with the two piece chicken tenders kids meal. The lady who took my order said they have a regular chicken tenders meal but I said I wanted the kids meal cause I don't eat a lot. She then said "It's the same amount of food." which, ok cool, but I don't think that should be said cause they can lose out on money. Just my opinion. And FYI, I very often get kids meals cause I really don't eat a lot. Not trying to save money or anything. The meal came with two chicken tenders, sauce, fries and a drink. Fries were good. Nothing to complain about. Those tenders tho.....YUM!!! So much flavor. And the ranch I got with it....yes! Not sure when I'll be in Birmingham again but I will 100% go back and try other items!
