Trussville's recent Fourth of July event had many food trucks come and stop by, and one of them was Simone's Kitchen. We decided to give them a try after looking at their menu. We decided on the bayou fries - fries, shrimp, sausage, queso cheese, and salsa. It was very good, and hit the spot. Even our toddler like them / gave her stamp of approval. The only issue with them was getting the food out in a timely manner. It took about 20 minutes to get our food, and the line here was quite long. But it was definitely worth the wait, and I'd get the bayou fries again!

Coming Soon! Simone's Kitchen to CenterPoint, Alabama. Award winning Macaroni and Cheese!

I am excited that Ms. Simone will be opening her new event center/catering service in CenterPoint,Alabama. On Easter Sunday, I had the pleasure of visiting her business and tasting the infamous macaroni and cheese, beef tips and rice, collard greens, cornbread, etc.... very delicious.! The atmosphere was refreshing and relaxing once I entered the establishment. Simone's mother has been a good friend of mine for many years. She hosted Sunday's Easter dinner with plenty of love and blessings. I am excited to visit Simone's business again this summer.

Lbc fries, but the bacon and cheese were missing

I've been wanting to try this food truck for a long time, so I was very tempted when I saw them at my kids' elementary school. I ordered the lbc fries. They are loaded chicken bacon ranch fries topped with shredded cheese and bacon. When I finally sat down to eat them, they looked a bit off, I noticed right away that there was no shredded cheese. I decided to shrug it off, even though I loooove cheese. (it's literally my Yelp profile tagline.) As I was eating, I realized there was no bacon either! Now, I will admit, the fries and ranch did taste very good, the chicken... it was ok, but for 13.20, I feel a little cheated. Oh well, I can't say I didn't give em a try...

We were attending Trussville's 4th of July celebrations, and once the rain stopped, decided we needed to grab something to eat. We wanted to try a new food truck and my husband was intrigued with this one! So we got an order of the Bayou Fries! While the wait to get our food seemed a little bit long, the actually food was hot and fresh! Everyone enjoyed the fries, shrimp and queso!! Our toddler was chowing down! I would def stop here again.

I'd been wanting to try this food truck for quite sometime. So glad I finally got around to it! They were at Cahaba Brewing on a Sunday afternoon. I just wanted something light so I went with the Buffalo chicken egg rolls. The order consisted of 3/$9 and well worth it. The chicken inside was filled with delicious Buffalo chicken. The outside was perfectly crispy!!! The consistency was outstanding! I was so glad they restocked because they were sold out. The customer service experience was really friendly /professional. The young man Damaryn (sp) who was assisting on his mom's food truck , was so funny and very helpful. My recent experience with this food truck was great! The food was so fresh and well made. Can't wait to try more of their vibrant menu!!

Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls Food Truck, 06/10/2021

Forgot to review. . .I saw Simone's would be in a neighborhood near me on 06/10/2021 and decided to check it out. I used the text message system to place my order for the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls. However, when I arrived they were not ready because she didn't check the messages. No problem, her son I think (very nice), took my order and it was out in a jiffy!!! The egg rolls were delicious and the sauce was awesome!!! If the food truck is near me again, I will definitely order the egg rolls again and another menu item.

I have been trying to catch this food truck when it is close by and timing has always been off until now. I chose the Seafood Stuffed Grilled Cheese. It was good and very messy (would not want to try and eat it in the car). My son had the same and we both agreed that at the price point we were a little disappointed. The amount of shrimp and crab was fine and the flavor was good. Including some fries or at least some chips would have helped feel like we got our money's worth. I would not go out of my way but will probably try some of the other items in particular the Buffalo Chicken Egg rolls or Brunch Menu options if the opportunity presents itself.

Chicken was very good. Black eyed peas were a bit dry. Seemed like canned peas. Cabbage was mid. Service wasn't the best. Seemed a bit unorganized.

    Seafood Grilled Cheese Sandwich

The grill cheese seafood sandwich is super delicious. The fried fish filets with Mac n cheese and okra will have you licking your lips. The servings are plentiful and seasoned to perfection.

Ate at this food truck at the Funky Fest at Cahaba Brewery. The gentleman running the cash register greeted me with a big smile. I waited about 7 minutes for my food. I honestly was a tiny bit disappointed that it was literally just the sandwich, no side. That being said, the sandwich was out of this world. The cheese was gooey and stretchy. The crab and shrimp was flavorful. The bread was crispy and exactly what you would want from a grilled cheese. Overall the sandwich was amazing. Like I said, kind of sad you get just a sandwich with no side for $15, but it was still a good sandwich.

    Cajun chicken nachos

This food truck is delicious!!! First time having them even though they've come our neighborhood before. My husband got the Cajun chicken nachos with extra queso and no jalapeños and I had the LBC(loaded Buffalo fries) and oh they did not disappoint!! I am not a Buffalo chicken fan so I was weary but the Buffalo flavor is not over powering and it's not too spicy. The ranch and bacon are just delicious!!! Definitely recommend and we will be back!!

The menu looked interesting but we weren't hungry at the time. He asked me to pull over and he would give me and my son some samples. We chatted for a few mins then he gave us both a homemade tortilla chip topped with smoked salmon a crawfish tail some roasted corn salsa and cheese sauce. My son doesn't eat seafood. Like at all. He ate tail first then devoured the rest. I did as well. I asked him if he wanted some nachos and he replied Yayyah (Lil Jon voice). So we got some kid nachos. He loved them and I snacked on his left overs which were delicious. When we got home later that evening I started looking for Leo on IG, yelp, etc. I saw he was grilling some patty pan squash topped with fresh Maine lobster. I told my wife he mentioned he made some fire vegetarian nachos so I headed back down to see if could catch him. There were several folks there when I arrived. Picking up slabs and fixins, plus some sandwiches. I saw the prime rib on his IG an it looked so good I had to try a wrap. He grilled up some fresh asparagus to top my wife's nachos as well. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The pepper sauce on my wrap was spicy and the roasted corn and prime rib were tender and smoky. It was an epic portion of food. No I mean seriously the vegetarian nachos could easily be an appetizer for 6-8 ppl. I am really excited to have met Leo and I can't wait to go back. He also mentioned that if I have clothing or shoes to donate his foundation needs them and he would take them there at the truck. I told him I would put a review up on yelp and be back soon. Please check out his social and support and donate to the foundation. 24kchef.leo. Birmingham Restaurant Week has ended and I am happy I got the chance to try some new places so I can tell you all about them. So let's get right into it. First up is The Lil Bougie Foodie INC. What brought me to them is what I saw written all over their food truck. It said Home of the Bougie burger, so I was very intrigued. So I ordered it after asking what all came on it. I don't fully remember what was all on it and unfortunately I tried to find it only but there is no description of it I could find so I'll do my best here. Like I said I ordered The Bougie Burger (A LA Cart). It had cheese, bacon, tomato, pickles, onions, lettuce, and bougie sauce. Oh and two smashed patties. This burger was good. In my own opinion it was lacking just a touch of season and I wish they had given me more of the sauce on the burger it was like I know it's there but wish I had more of it. Also I was disappointed I received bacon bits on my burger instead of actual slices of bacon (not sure what was going on there). Also on the picture it looks like there burgers were served with White American cheese but I received Yellow American (yes they taste different to me), don't get me wrong I love yellow American so it didn't bother me at all. Anyways this burger was very good would 100% get this again and can't wait to try what else they have on the menu. I give the burger a 8.9/10. If you see this food truck parked and serving gone head and hope in the line with me and everyone else because you are about to eat good! Be sure to follow them on social media too!

Occupying the space previously used by Spoon and Ladle, Broad Street is next to Uno Tacos and across from J Wings. A native of New Orleans, Kelli Caulfield was raised in Birmingham and never forget her fondness for New Orleans food and culture. So much so that she started a New Orleans themed sno-ball "truck" called NOLA Ice in 2011. Six years later, she added another venture to her resume and started the Broad Street Peaux Boy food truck. It's success has now lead to this location in the Pizitz Food Hall. By the way, I love the clever spin on the spelling and pronunciation of "poboy" to "peaux boy". Unlike Walk-On's or Pappadeauxs, the menu at Broad Street Peaux Boys is short and delectable. It has the basics such as chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice and chicken and sausage pasta jambalaya (or pasta-laya). This menu also has some changes from their food truck menu, but their peauxboys are basically the same. Broad St is proud of their "overstuffed" peauxboys as advertised on their menu and website. All their peauxboys are "dressed" with lettuce, tomato and pickle on french bread and served with your choice of chips or cajun fries with one additional side of dirty rice, cajun corn, or collard greens. Their choices of Peauxboys include: The Parkway is their classic fried shrimp, catfish peauxboy. The Hot Boy is a lemon pepper "hot" catfish on french bread. If you like your catfish blackened and covered with their remoulade sauce, try the Parkway. The Cassie is their classic fried shrimp but tossed in hot buffalo sauce then topped with blue cheese crumbles and ranch on french bread. Finally the Hollet is a peauxboy made with roast beef in their special au-jus sauce. Beyond Peaux Boys, they have what they call Broad St Boxes which include Shrimp Box, Catfish Box, and a Catfish n Shrimp Box. There's even a Broad St Salad Box which can be served with your choice of catfish or shrimp. These are also served with a choice of sides and hushpuppies. Studying their menu, I had planned on trying the gumbo, red beans and rice, and a shrimp peaux boy. Unfortunately that didn't work out as planned because when I arrived, the kitchen was shutting down. They were closing early due to impending storms. Although most everything was already put away, the last employee there felt sorry for me and offered to cook some simplified boxes for me. I couldn't say no so I got a shrimp box and a catfish box. Both only had cajun fries. The catfish and shrimp were both fried in the same "fish fry" powder. The catfish filet was a nice size and fried perfectly. The batter wasn't thick but just enough to seal in the oil and juices of the catfish. The catfish was oh so good. Yom Yom Yom. It wasn't too salty or overly covered in a thick batter... just the way I like it. The fries were on par and complimented the catfish and shrimp. The shrimp box had about 8 large shrimp that were also fried to perfection. With the same delicious light "crust" that meets your taste buds first, you then taste the inviting shrimp underneath. I'm quite sure that the shrimp that's used in their peaux boy will be cooked the same way so I'm trying to imagine how these shrimp would taste sandwiched between their french bread and dressed with tomatoes, lettuce and pickle with possibly mayo or remoulade sauce. It was torture trying to imagine that so that's why I'm definitely returning. I'm not a big roast beef peauxboy kindaguy, but I may even try the Hollet. If you fancy sno-balls, feast your eyes on all the different flavors that NOLA Ice has to offer right under the same roof. Also owned by Caulfied, it made sense for NOLA Ice to also be there next to Broad St Peaux Boys to tickle your taste buds. Broad St Peaux Boy may not be a big place, but they have big flavors. Nothing fancy about their silverware or dishes since everything is served in disposable containers, but their food is cooked fresh and to perfection. Don't forget that they still have a food truck and they cater. Welcome to the Pizitz Food Hall, Broad St Peaux Boys!
