Our first visit to Birmingham and this place came highly recommended by family so we knew we had to have some! We ordered a family meal and got some pulled pork and chicken, Mac and cheese, baked beans, potato salad and some cookies. Having gotten in from a full travel day, it was nice to eat some amazing southern style bbq at our Airbnb. Can't speak to the ambience or service since our family members picked up the food for us, but if it's anything like their food, it's awesome! read more

What happened here?? Some good reviews but everything on my brisket and turkey plate was just plain bad. Turkey had no flavor. Potato salad could have been Walmart. The brisket was downright gristly. read more

Friendly staff, great location, easy to find. The fried green tomatoes were delicious. The ribs were good. The chicken sandwich is a must-try a great stop to watch a game with plenty of seating and great lighting. read more

Alabama has some solid barbecue places and this is one of them. I usually go for items like their chicken or pork plates, but just to keep it it interesting, sometimes I will opt for one of their huge baked potatoes topped with pulled pork. Had the outside sliced bbq plate with beans and slaw , meat was juicy and had the little char on the outside it was delicious. I prefer mayonnaise based slaw but this vinegar based was really good especially with the beans , they also had a spoon of chow chow on the side it's a little spicy and next time I'll ask for more , it goes great with the meat two buttered and grilled hamburger buns and two pickles, all very good , I finished it off with the carrot cake that's very good . Stopped by Full Moon in Pelham for a quick supper before heading home. Dining room was spotless, very clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. My wife ordered a BBQ pork salad and I ordered the BBQ nachos. The pulled pork in both entrees was warm and smokey. Meat was tender and juicy. Wife's salad was large and had fresh veggies and lettuce. Lettuce and veggies were cool and crisp. Wife said it was a winner. My nachos were covered with white queso, BBQ sauce, salsa, lettuce and sour cream. Chips were warm and crisp. The flavor meld was a winner, a little Mexican and a little southern BBQ! Only reason for 4 stars is that I feel Full Moon has always been a little overpriced. $25 for an appetizer nachos and a salad with two drinks. No reason not to return, will be back. read more

My coworkers and I ordered Full Moon for lunch via Door Dash on a VERY rainy day. It was so convenient. It was a total of 10 orders. Overall, the orders came correct, however special requests went unnoticed. I'm not sure if this was the fault of Full Moon or Door Dash. I was disappointed that the restaurant didn't send more sauces and condiments with such a large group order. With the exception of a few, most of us agreed that the food was mediocre. I still love Full Moon and definitely plan to return in the future... maybe next time, I'll go and dine in. read more

We stopped in for some barbecue while driving through. It was a safe place to stop and stretch. We ordered three pulled pork sandwiches. They are fresh and tasted good. The onion rings were 5 for 5$. They were big, but over cooked. The okra was not ok at all. I hate to say that the sides mean just as much as the entree. The service was very friendly. we went before noon on 12/28/24. ordered 2 catfish plates. sides on both were beans and fries. also ordered fried green tomatoes. only things good were the fries and tomatoes! fish was a dark, dark brown color, no seasoning and no fish taste . the beans were mushy, looked like a big lump of bbq - like they were scraped from the bottom of the container. maybe yesterday's beans? i definitely didn't eat the beans- not sure what it was.... will not order again...spent $50 on awful food!! read more

The sides I had Mac and cheese and fried green tomatoes were excellent, the brisket however was not I don't believe it was cooked long and slow enough to properly break down the connective tissue. Brisket shouldn't be chewy . Didn't want to return and ask for a new plate because it obviously would have been the same cut/cook. New location in Pelham located in the same area as Gold's gym and Dairy Queen. I had already eaten, however it's always a good time to get a Full Moon Sweet Tea. As I entered there was only one table occupied, as it was about 2:00 in the afternoon. First thing that stands out is how clean this location is. Spotless! Floors, tables, tea refill area, and even the garbage area were totally clean. Two girls behind the counter were talking as I approached, but they quickly stopped talking and took my order. Very friendly and quick service. Typical Full Moon in that they have walls that are covered in memorabilia from Alabama and Auburn as well as supporting local schools and their sports teams. Looking forward to a return visit to try the food. Based on my first impression I have no doubt they will perform well and the food will be as great as was the service this trip. read more

Good service....flavorless food. The ribs were extremely smoky, but BBQ ribs need more than smoke. Possibly the worst ribs I've ever had. The mac and cheese was also pretty bad....it's like they don't salt the water. And the fried okra....H‑E‑B's generic frozen bagged of fried okra are better. I read the reviews and they must have new management because I have been twice in the past two weeks, and both times were great. The first time I had a large bbq sandwich and fries. We are Snowbirds spending a night in Pelham. Looking for a quick meal. The hotel desk recommended Full Moon. We drove by twice because it look closed. They could use an Open sign. But once we entered we found the staff very helpful. Since we were traveling we did not want left overs. We ordered the two meat combo Chicken & Brisket to split. It was perfect. Went to the PELHAM location for the first time tonight because Hoover was out of ribs. Never again. The ribs were too salty, onion rings were cooked in old tasting grease & had under cooked spots on them, and the cookies were stale. Not what I expect from Full Moon. Full moon has taken over the former Johnny Ray's location. Really wanted some ribs so after we hit dollar tree we ran thru the drive thru and got half a slab. The ribs were fresh and hot. We were served quickly! I don't particularly care for their sauce. I got the ribs dry. They were still juicy and not dried out. The flavor was smoky w minimal seasoning. The sauce I assume is to be used to improve flavor of the otherwise mildly seasoned rib. The texture was good witha little chew, the whole rib didn't slide off the bone you had to bite it but the meat was tender and came off the bone with ease. We've had salads, smoked chicken, overloaded potatoes and other items from other franchise locations. This newer location will be the most convenient to us. We will go back to this location I'm sure. read more

The Pelham Parkway Full Moon BBQ at 31 is best described as "adequate". It is good enough but not exceptional. I have a bit of a problem with them expecting me to bus my own table after paying over $10 with tax for an open-faced sandwich and fries. However, my major problem is with being subjected to Fox Cable News while I dine. Today's news is more likely to upset one's stomach than it is to be pleasant and soothing. The TVs could be set to Travel, Home Remodeling, Food or anything besides news and I would not complain. I was pleased to read the Lifetime Fitness will no longer be playing cable news in their fitness rooms nationwide. I hope all restaurants will take a cue from them and do the same. read more

I stopped in with some friends to eat at 4 mode barbecue. Staff was friendly it was clean and the prices are very fair. We had open face barbecue sandwich in burgers. For quick barbecue fix this is a great place to go and the price point is right on the money. read more

This location is still working out the kinks. I went for lunch earlier this week and ordered the fish sandwich. Initially, the employee told me they didn't have this item. I told the employee that it was clearly on their menu board. I guess she went and consulted with another employee and found out it was on menu. Fast forward me getting my order back to the office to find that my fish was burnt and the fries tasted as if they'd been cooked in the same burnt grease. My carrot cake also tasted horrible. I will probably wait at least a year before I return to this location while they work out the kinks. read more

With the good reviews I was expecting this place to be better. This is some of the worst brisket I've ever had. It tasted like I was eating a hockey puck covered in bbq sauce. There were a few prices that were tender and amazing, but it was most bad. Deviled eggs are worst I've ever tasted. They had no flavor and were over seasoned with paprika. They also tasted a little old. The Mac and cheese was mushy and watery and did not Resemble anything remotely cheese flavored. I really want to like this location... 1. Food - Average. Not on par with the other locations 2. Service -ok 3. Price- too expensive for what you get. Jim and Nicks provides a better product at a lower price. 4. Uniqueness- the chow chow and the cookie is the only unique menu item. I have tried the drive thru and this is my 1st sit down. I have been a customer of Full Moon at various locations, this is absolutely the worst. The bar b que was dry and full of burnt bark. I had a piece of carrot cake that was so stale I couldn't eat it. The manager asked if everything was alright, when I told him about the cake he just rolled his eyes. I wont visit this location again. read more

Dinner May 3 One word summery - Disappointed Got there just before 8pm - so maybe the issues with the food for this review is due to the store closing at 9pm?!!?? BUT - Just to make sure I wasn't LOOSING my mind about how Great Full Moon is, I actually ate on May 5 at the one in Dothan ( I gave that experience 5 Stars by the way) Got 2 meat combo: pulled pork (asked for it chopped with some bark) and turkey and 3 Spare Rib sandwich. with Fries and baked beans They pored an incredible amount of BBQ sauce over all the meat. I was wanting to put the White Sauce on the Turkey - but its was soaked in BBQ. Oh, and the BBQ sauced that was used seemed like some old sauce that was at the bottom of a big 200 gallon pot and it was the near-burned leftover sauce at the bottom. It was NOT the Full Moon BBQ sauce I know and love. There was so much sauce on the RIBS that the bread was completely MUSH. The Pork seemed watery, the RIBS were dry (I didn't even finish them all). And the White Sauce seemed to be nothing even close to what I have had at other Full Moon's (missing ingredients n Pelham?) I know I was there an hour before close and I didn't expect the meat to be fresh out the smoker - but the quality was NO WHERE NEAR what I have come to expect from Full Moon. And the baked beans were BLACK - yes - BLACK. I actually thought they gave me Spanish style Black Beans. it was inedible - period. I hope this was an ANOMALY and not the norm at the Pelham location. read more

This is hands down the BEST Full Moon BBQ location that I've ever visited (and I've been to most of them more than once). Meats are always nice and moist, with just the right amount of smoke and the sides are fantastic (try the collard greens!). The dining room stays spotless, and the staff have always been incredibly friendly and polite. Food is brought out quickly, and the overall atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Went through Full Moon's drive thru tonight. Ordered 1 pound of brisket. Worst brisket I have ever had. No bark on it. So much fat you couldn't even pull the meat apart. The fat would make the slice snap back like a rubber band. Ended up feeding it to my dog. Who ever sliced it knew it was a garbage piece of meat unless they are brain dead. read more
