Chicken wings, green beans and mash potatoes
Mischa J.

Yelp! They still good. It's my birthday and this chicken on the bone calling me. Yes It's calling. We are a party of 7! We REAL hungry. We fresh out of church and ready to eat. Everybody got some chicken, mostly chicken wings. I got a side piece of catfish and another got fried livers. All this food good. We got all the sides! Okra, French fries, baked beans, slaw, green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. Yum! These okra eaters are gone wild! Dustin has served us well. Y'all already know where this delicious fried chicken abides, CHAMPY's BABY! This stuff good. Happy Birthday to me!

Decided to have lunch here on a Friday afternoon. There was a nice crowd but not a long wait to be seated. I was seated at a big booth and that was perfect since I was also working. My server was sweet and provided good, non overbearing service. I ordered 3 piece white (2 breast & 1 wing) which comes with coleslaw and baked beans. The chicken was fried perfectly!!! Crunchy on the outside and soooo juicy and moist inside. The sides were good and went well with the crispy fried chicken. I ordered to go for my mom and nephew. Their chicken fingers were huge and definitely enough to share or for leftovers. It has been many years since I last visited Champys and I was impressed with the service and the food! I'll definitely be back soon to try their hot tamales and to take advantage again of their $5 Abita Andygator holiday special!

My husband, son and I decided to try somewhere new to us since we were in the area. The restaurant was pretty crowded for a late afternoon lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately. Pickle spears were delicious. My husband ordered an old fashioned and really loved it. All of our food came out piping hot. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My son ordered the banana pudding for dessert and I stole a few bites and it was perfect. Parking is plentiful. Our server was friendly and attentive.

I visited Mar 2025. Good for what it is. The portions were large, service competent and kind, and ambience was unique, albeit the total number of decorative collections exceeded my sanity levels (dollar bills--guitars--signs--bicycle stuff--and I can't remember what else). I would have been content with observing just the vast collection of graffitied $1 bills papering the walls. Some of the chicken was underdone, a risk with deep frying large numbers of chicken pieces at a time. This was another kid-requested restaurant; I just don't enjoy much deep fried, greasy Southern food (thus why I give it only 4 stars). I returned in June with friends and just got a salad; my insides thanked me. P.S. my youngest son had a couple dollars in cash that he personally gave to our waitress for an extra tip, because he had such a nice time! Writing this review has made me want to take my kids back. :-)

We were coming from the National Cemetery after attending the Wreaths across America service, which was inspirational and beautiful, when we decided to stop here for lunch. Now, let me say this didn't look like your usual family restaurant. I think that's what made it so appealing, the curiosity of it all. Upon arrival, I stopped two customers leaving and asked them if the food was good; their response was, "we''be been here three times this week and we live in Prattville." Say less, I continued to be seated and wait on the rest of my party. How do I describe the decor? I can't. You really have to see this for yourself. Very clean eccentric restaurant. My family joined me and said, the food had better be good! The menu was predominantly a fried menu and they loved it!!! We ordered, fried chicken livers, catfish, shrimp and hush puppies. The portions were large enough to share. The flavors were perfect on all the food. The service was wonderful. She kept our beverages full and was so courteous and polite. I would comeback!!!

We have went a few times here lately. The food has been delicious and the waitresses friendly. We love the Fried Jalapeño basket and the tamales. We get the catfish or fried shrimp plate. The drinks are very affordable. You have to ask for the drink list though most of the time . Every-time I go I see people taking some food home. The last few times they have had more waitresses working. If you want Fried catfish, fried chicken, or fried shrimp this is your place. For a drink I would suggest a Sangria not a hurricane. You do get your moneys worth! The only place in Alabaster I will eat at regularly. Best restaurant in Alabaster no joke!!

My friend and I wanted some fried chicken for dinner. We found Champy's close by. The place was pretty big. Friendly atmosphere. The decor of the restaurant was fun with lots of nick-nacks and decorations. I ordered a two piece with potato salad and fried okra. Of course, we order some sweet tea with our dinner. The chicken and sides were excellent. The chicken was hot and juicy. Everything was very delicious. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a great dinner!

The margaritas here are SO much better than the typical ones you will find at a Mexican restaurant that come from a machine. If you're lucky, Meagan will be tending the bar are will offer you some friendly banter while providing excellent service.

I decided to try Champy's for lunch. My dad and I ordered their fried shrimp po'boy and fries to go. The lady that took my order was very friendly and professional. She was able to answer my question about the bread they used without putting me on hold to check, which was refreshing. The wait was about 15 minutes. Champy's gives off a laid back quirky vibe from the outside. I hope to be able to go in to enjoy the food on my next visit. Their drive-thru is for call ahead orders only, so there is no speaker or menu board. The service was prompt and friendly. I was asked if I needed cutlery or condiments, which is a plus in my book, especially since we were headed to Orr Park. Our food was ready and we'll packaged. The food was still piping hot after thirty minutes of stops and driving. The fries are seasoned and very tasty. The po'boy was very good. It was on toasted New Orleans style French bread. This made me so happy because often times I've gotten a po'boy on a hoagie roll or even a hot dog bun. The bread for the po'boy had been slathered with garlic butter before toasting and it gave it such a good flavor. It was dressed with a Cajun mayo that was just spicy enough to be delicious, lettuce, and tomatoes. The shrimp were fried to perfection but I would have liked more shrimp. I think there were five, maybe six shrimp, which was enough to barely cover the bread. The po'boy was delicious even if it was a little under filled with shrimp. I give Champy's a solid 4/5 stars for to go. I recommend it and hope to return soon and hopefully catch some live music.

The fried pickles were served quickly, we had to wait awhile to eat them because they fresh out the grease. The chicken? Is a yes, cooked fresh to order. I should have ordered fries, the baked beans and potato salad i could not eat, they were both sweet in a bad way. I had the Muddy Waters, it was delicious, not very strong on a lemon taste. The service was great, waitress was attentive. Its smaller inside that i thought, but big enough. Juke joint decor, very eclectic but clean.

Stopped with friends for lunch. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. The chicken was good, we all enjoyed our meals. A little too much carbs for me. I would come back just for the atmosphere.

I usually overlook it, but sometimes it's hard when they've gotten the order wrong, and you can only think they weren't really listening to the order. They are pretty good about having teenage workers, and a lot of times the drive thru team member seems about that age, so perhaps they will learn with experience. The food is alright for dinner; I'm not the greatest fan of the change to a potato bun or whatever it is that Jack's made in the last year or so. The "new" buns seem way too bready, and usually a bit dry; tends to overwhelm the burger. They make their milkshakes with real ice cream, so it's nice to have a hand-dipped shake instead of some mix-made shake at the competitors. Also, if you ever have the opportunity to try their blueberry fried pie when they're offered for a limited time--do it. Also pretty tasty. Their breakfasts are the real star at Jack's. Great biscuits!

My family and I visited this restaurant after my doctors appointment a couple of weeks ago, we are not from the area we actually live in Gadsden so it was our first time trying this restaurant. Let me just start out with this the food was absolutely delicious. I don't have much of an appetite these days and I. An honestly say I finished almost all of my food and ate until I was stuffed and that isn't something that happens very often. Each member of my family was happy with their food and was already planning out what they would order when we come back after my next appointment . I just opened a Farm Stand in our home town and while we were sitting and eating I spotted a mixer that was sitting off to the side with some other supplies. If you know anything about industrial mixers they are far from cheap I had been looking at a few in the $500 range so I thought I would just check. I asked the guy upfront if he could ask the owner if it was for sale and if so how much he was asking. The owner came and spoke to us and I quickly realized that the mixer he had was way more expensive than the ones I had been looking at and I told him I was sorry that I couldn't even give him a fair price after looking up the kind he had . He looked at us and gave me a price that was astonishing to say the least , but I still didn't have that much at the moment. He told me to give him what I could and then pay him later when I had it for the rest. This is a man who has never met me he had no reason to help me besides just being kind. When you hear this man talk about helping others and community he means it, it's not just talk to make him sound good. I left his restaurant that day with a mixer that was several thousands of dollars. So I say all of that to say this Alabaster and surrounding areas yall are truly blessed to have a business that not only has amazing food but has amazing people who truly care about others, and from personal experience I can tell you they don't have to have known you for years to treat you like family. We will be making this restaurant part of our stop each time we come through. Thank you again for blessing me I can't tell you how much it has ment!

I knew I wouldn't be done by closing so I went through the drive through. The drive through and the building were both clean and well maintained. The lady who took my order was friendly and upbeat. I ordered a bbq pork plate, sliced, with potato salad and mac and cheese and a large diet Dr. Pepper. At the window everyone was super friendly. I asked for extra napkins and got a stack. They were not stingy at all. My food quality was peak, despite the nearness of closing time. My bbq pork was succulent and perfectly sliced. There was no tough meat. There was plenty of sauce, pickles, and chow chow. The potato salad was sweet, tangy, and creamy and the mac and cheese was deliciously cheesy. I love their mac and cheese because while creamy and cheesy it doesn't taste like Velvetta. It reminds me of my mom's home made baked version. The entire experience was grea
