Sarris Cafe is a lovely little family owned business. It's a meat and three with Greek flair! Sarris is set up cafeteria style; you walk up and order your food. Different specials are run daily. The restaurant owners are tech savvy, and specials are posted every day on Facebook. The folks who plated our food were incredibly warm and lovely. They gave my dad an extra corn muffin when they saw he got beans and greens. Can't do that without cornbread! My mom and I both got vegetable plates. We had squash casserole, Mac and cheese, yams, fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy, and yeast rolls. I know, I know - we went light on the vegetables. Their squash casserole is talked up as their specialty, and it was very good. Nice squash and onion flavor. Mac had great cheddar flavor and wasn't overcooked. Delicious, actually house-made yeast rolls. And the fried okra, heavily breaded, has an awesome crunch! Mashed potatoes were the weak link; I've had much better. Yams were the perfect balance of cinnamon and sweetness, but without being overpowering. My dad got the fried snapper with pinto beans and collards. He liked it all. My mom thought the pintos were too salty, but I just thought they had a nice meaty flavor. Corn muffin was a little dry. The fried snapper was crispy and not fishy at all! Big win there. We all agreed we'd return if we found ourselves in the neighborhood again. read more

The food quality is second to none. Great place for lunch. I once had mediocre service a few years back, left an appropriate review then. But lately, the food quality is excellent and the staff is polite and attentive. The only thing I will suggest is they could cut their dessert cake amd pie portions little bigger. read more

Went in on a Sunday after church-12:45. It is Piccadilly style where you wait in line and order from the buffet then pay at the register when you are done. The atmosphere is ok, simply a place to get a decent meat and 3 at an exceptional price. All the workers were super super nice. I ordered the vegetable plate-4 veggies with a huge homemade dinner roll. Limas- they were good, i've definitely had better Fried Okra-they were good, but slightly over cooked Turnip greens- they were bland Squash Casserole- this was very tasty. I would get this again. Homemade roll- light fluffy and freshly baked. This was all for $7.95 and the portions were big. I will go there again and try a meat and different veggies. read more

It's hot and miss for me. Today was salt with a side of veggies. But my biggest pet peeve with any restaurant, not just Sarris, is that the temp differential between inside and outside is so great that my food was quite cold before I could wolf it down. read more

Multigenerational family owned Greek/American cafeteria style restaurant. Solid meat and 3. Reasonably priced. This current location/ format is much improved from when they originally moved here. A coworker and I ventured over today. I hadn't been in quite some time. The last time I came to this location. I was quite disappointed honesty. A friend recommend giving it another shot and as my coworker and I find a seat she's sitting there with a group of her coworkers. This is a staple for her group and now I see why. Solid variety of options. Well prepared. I went fried snapper, okra, mixed beans and jalapeño cornbread. This is what meat and three is supposed to be. The fish was piping hot and fresh. A large filet. Good tarter sauce and a solid hot sauce on the table. The mixed beans were surprisingly really good. I couldn't name every bean that was in the dish but speckled butter beans, maybe some crowder peas, possibly Lima's... they were just good. The okra was fresh I could have gone crunchier but wasn't soggy. The jalapeño cornbread was excellent. My coworker equally enjoyed his baked chicken with the same sides. This is the best meat and 3 style restaurant in the area I'm aware of. read more

Sarris Cafe is an excellent meat and three destination in Pelham. It is part of my lunch crews regular stops during the week. Rarely have I been disappointed in my offerings and when I have been, the folks at Sarris have always made it right. I always enjoy beef tips and rice when offered. read more

The food is tasty and reasonably priced. This place has a cafeteria style setup and the servers behind the food line remind me of the food nazi on Seinfeld. I feel like I'm supposed to know EXACTLY what I want when I walk up and asking for anything different/extra is unacceptable. There is not usually a line so I always wonder why they're so rushed and dry. read more

Fast service home style cooking, I usually get the baked fish and they often have a choice of fried fish as well. I am a regular here and enjoy getting a wide choice of vegetables. My wife gets a different assortment and we share, so that gives each of us a taste of 4 side dishes! I think it is great to get a choice of spinach or turnip greens most days. Sarris Cafe is very close to my house, yet I forget about it when I need lunch. I remembered this week and took my wife. This is the third time that I have visited the restaurant, so I am ready to make my judgement, and it's all positive! The decor is a surprise; clean and bright with a beautiful fish tank up front. This is an old school meat and three feed line style restaurant, so you go down the line and choose from 4 or 5 meat options then choose from a myriad of sides. This most recent visit my wife had the fried snapper and I had the red beans, rice and sausage. We had mac n' cheese, Lima beans, fried okra and green beans for our sides and some killer jalapeño corn bread. The sides are good enough that I could order the vegetable plate! All prepared in perfect southern styles! The star was that red beans and rice though! I have had this dish in some of the most venerable establishments in New Orleans and this was the best I have had! I want more of it right now. I have yet to try the desserts but they look good. Add to it all that everyone working there is super nice and attentive, and I will be remembering them much more often moving forward! read more

I went to Sarris because they were recently voted in the top 5 meat and three in Alabama. I walked in with high expectations. I expected it to be on par with Nikis (either location) and I was disappointed. The food was meh at best. I decided on country fried steak with cabbage and squash casserole and a half and half tea. The best part was the waitress expertly pouring from both pitchers at the same time into my glass. The steak was on the bland side and a disconcerting grey color. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad by any means but it sure wasn't great. Thinner than I expected and the breading was gummy. The cabbage was fine, it was cabbage. The squash casserole was what the reviewer said was the best and I was stoked. Once again, it wasn't bad but I'm glad the waitress wasn't afraid of refills because it was way too salty. I could enjoy the other flavors because of the overwhelming salt. I can't fault them on their jalapeno cornbread though, it might have been my favorite part. It was priced reasonable, but I feel like for the quality of the meat and overall flavor it was....meh. read more
