3-Layer Lasagna, green beans and mashed sweet potatoes

Home of the heavy plates! I've been eating here for years and for the most part...service and food is always great. Every now and again...something may be a little off, but for the most part they are consistent. This restaurant is a great (and needed) addition to this side of town. Get there early because the line can get rather long, especially on Sundays. It moves quick though. The owner and Chef Tim, comes out to greets the customers and explains the rules. He's very friendly and I love how it's a family owned business. His wife runs the cash register and on occasion their toddler daughter makes an appearance in the restaurant. There is a few seats inside to sit and enjoy your meal. Try the Country Punch...it's great! Pro Tip: meats that come with gravy such as hamburger steak or smothered pork chops automatically come with rice plus you still get two veggies with it. If you want to get even more bang for your buck, that's definitely the route to go and you will have food for another meal or two! One more thing: you're gonna pay upwards of $20 or more for your food but the amount you get makes it worth it. Definitely try them out!

The food was good, however, after spending over $60 on two plates. I asked for a cup, and she said it'll be $.50. I needed a cup because I purchased a $7.00 gallon punch. Most restaurants offer complimentary water, which is provided in a cup. I only needed an empty cup. She sensed my utter confusion and said I'll give it to you. Also, chaotic with receiving your plate. I waited forever. After seeing my food just in their window, I brought it to their attention. My food was ready, but the very rude cashier said ok and kept doing what she was doing instead of giving me my plate. She gave customers who came in after me their plates, although my food was ready. She asked if I wanted a receipt. I answered yes, and she claimed she would text me, and I NEVER received it. My first and most likely last time coming. Customer service is everything, and I pay for good customer service. Therefore, I'm not sure if I'll be back.

This food was bomb.com. Omg this food was well-seasoned and the portion sizes were generous. You won't be disappointed because I am so thankful for this experience !!! The owner and his wife went over and beyond to help me and ensure I had a great experience.

Beef Tips Over Rice, Yams & Black-Eyed Peas

I can not believe that I am the first person to review Oh Taste and See. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and the chef took the time to explain the menu. The people here were super friendly. Please make sure you are hungry when you go there. You get a lot of food for your money. I had beef tips over rice, yams and black eyed peas. There was enough food on my plate to feed three people. The beef tips were some of the best I've had in the Birmingham area. The yams and black eyed peas were quite tasty too.

The food is BOMB! It's always a line but it's worth it and the portions are HUGE! My favorite Sunday spot.

I'm not personally a fan of mayonnaise, so I skipped the Alabama white sauce, but my guest ordered it and really liked it. If that style of sauce is your thing, it seems to be well executed here. The French fries were cooked well, though I found myself wishing there was a house seasoning or something on the table to switch up the flavor profile a bit. The collard greens were also delicious -- tender and nicely prepared, with most of the stems removed, though there were still a few more than I would have preferred. Where the experience dipped was service. We were seated in a back corner, and it took quite a while to get assistance from servers throughout the meal. It didn't feel intentional, just a bit overlooked. The restaurant itself is in a very cool, older building with character. The historic feel is part of its charm, though aesthetically it does feel a little worn in places -- understandably so given the age of the space. Overall, the food is strong and worth trying, especially the chicken. With more attentive service, it would easily elevate the experience.

Met my wife here for lunch and it was a nice surprise. The inside is a little small, so if they are busy, you may have to sit outside. The inside is decorated... festive? A lot of people are able to walk here from their homes, so it is truly a neighborhood bar. I would characterize the beer menu as limited, but they have enough variety for people to find something they would like. They have a great food menu, and everyone liked what they ordered. Personally, I like the buffalo style cauliflower appetizer (don't judge). Nice and spicy. The fried pickles were excellent as well. Note, order the fries, not the tots. You will thank me later. The only problem is that they don't have any wheelchair accessible parking (which is require by law). One person in our party uses a wheelchair full time, and had to park at the gas station next store. The sidewalks are partially blocked with planters, and it was hard for him to enter the premises.

They offer a hot bar where you order from items that are hot and ready for you. I like their salmon patties and rice. The breakfast potatoes are also a favorite. The ladies are always friendly. I've stopped several times on my way to work and bought food for my teammates and they have been very accommodating with the large order. The price is very reasonable and I always enjoy my breakfast. The dinner menu is decent but I can get better soul food and desserts elsewhere. During the pandemic, they stopped customers from sitting inside to eat and I'm not sure if they have started back yet. I usually take my food to go. Overall, it's a good place to eat with fair prices and friendly staff. While I prefer breakfast, lunch and dinner are worth checking out as well.

We had a short amount of time to plan our event, and he said yes even when it was probably inconvenient to him. He was timely to respond to us even when his family was going through a short term difficult situation as well. He is absolutely dependable when it comes to communication. The day of our event, David and his family showed up in a timely manner prepared and ready to go. He set up in a timely manner as well. During the event he was prompt to make sure our crowd was taken care of and greeted which is a huge plus when hiring companies. His food itself was honestly the best food I have probably ever had. There was not one item offered that was not clearly thought through and perfected. Every single item was prepared perfectly. We had him make ham and cheese sliders which are not even on his typical menu, and they absolutely were hands down the best ham and cheese slider i have ever had. Over all, do yourself a favor and hire David and his catering staff. There are a million incredible things I could say about them and none of them would be enough to wrap up what they did for us tonight. He left us and our crowd more than satisfied. To David directly- thank you for making such a hectic night, easy. Showing up on time and doing a job well is hard to find these days so I am personally thankful that you were able to greatly exceed all of my company's expectations. I will be recommending you to every single person we know. Thanks Again!
