Pro: The ribeye was very good and so was the pecan bread dessert. The place is cute and attached to the hotel I was staying in. It was a cold, rainy night so it was nice to have that option without having to step outside. Cons: it was oddly quiet. Like awkward. And I was told the music had been broken for a while. I thought the AC was broken, too. it was very warm. Maybe to make up for the chill outside, but still. Again, It was just awkward inside. dark, warm and quiet. Overall, I would give this place a second try.
The service was great from the greater to the server. The food was delicious. It vibe was very chill. My only complaint was the drinks weren't good. Neither drink was as expected. We didn't finish either of them.
I had the Double Yard burger, with smoked Gouda and grilled onions. Cooked perfectly medium rare, it's a great burger. The fries were also hot with a crunch, and the salad was tasty. Monica provided great service and the atmosphere here is excellent.

Came here after a last minute decision for dinner. I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Gnocchi which had great taste and flavor. At first is doesn't sound appealing, but was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately my friend ordered the Heirloom Tomato and Grilled Peach Salad that comes with goat cheese. Her luck, the waitress never placed the dressing on the side as she asked and the salad barely had any goat cheese(little to no goat cheese really). Once we wrapped up our meal my friend gave feedback to the waiter that the salad barely had goat cheese and felt it was a form of bad marketing that the salad comes with goat cheese when there is barely any is on the dish. They ended up giving her a To-go order of another salad with only 3 specks of goat cheese ( still barely any goat cheese). Not what was asked for nor did we wanted. Sad to say the salad went to the trash since it was drenched with dressing on top and no one wants salad again after their meal. Just as an idea,maybe giving a free dessert to compensate would have been a better option. Hope y'all have a better experience dining here.
My food took 45 minutes and it took me 15 minutes to get my first drink... the restaurant wasn't full just staff not being efficient. The only person that was doing any real work was the bartender.. However, the restaurant itself is pretty and in a lovely hotel.
I made reservations here for Valentines night for a family of 4 last night. My mom and friend arrived an hour early . My husband and I arrived on time. Once I arrived my mom stated you're not going to like what's on the menu. They only offered a Valentine's menu which was very limited entrees, had I known that while making the reservation I would've never booked the restaurant. Moving forward we all just decided to be grateful and try the surf and turf. Waitress already a bit upset when we seated. She took our order and when my husband said well done on his sirloin she stated the chef will not cook the meat well done! only medium rare, or medium well! I immediately closed my menu and stated I can't eat here. A manager came out and stated the same thing! How dare you all tell people how to eat their meat that we have to pay for. The manager made an exception and gave us another menu because of the lack of communication and no one told us the menu was limited and your meat can't be cook well done! Ok! Cool we all order from this different menu meanwhile Husband and I go and take pictures maybe about 20 minutes later my mom comes out very upset and states a guy came out and said they are out of the food we order from the different menu! Yep just like that. I go back in and speak with the manager she stated yes they are out and that she was sorry and that we can order from the menu that was limited the Valentines menu and they can cook the sirloin to our liking now which was well done. My mom and friend left and said no they had been sitting 3 hours already. My husband and I stayed. The manager herself bought the food out and it looked very good and I cut my sirloin and guess what rare inside and my husband sirloin was exactly the same. I pushed my plate back saying I don't want it! I see the waitress who was upset when we seated coming our way, she saw me pushed the plate back and she turned away and walked back towards the kitchen. My husband and I got up and left the building! I never leave a bad review on anyone but the people we had serving us by the name of Laci was awful! Ashleyn the manager tried to help but she wasn't much help either. The chef needs to be fired as well as Laci! You can't tell anyone how you will cook their meat that's ridiculous! My worst experience ever! We had to go and find another place to eat at. We ended up at a drive thru and ordered fried chicken because every restaurant we called was booked! So Bravo to The Yard for messing up our Valentine's Night! FYI my mom friend ordered wine and said Laci never bought it to him they had to call the manager to get it! I been to some upscale restaurants and this was the worst service I ever encountered in my life!

Our server was exceptional: genuine, friendly and engaging; knowledgeable about the menu & helpful with suggestions. Since we were heading to a show we split everything. No one took offense; much appreciated since sometimes it isn't. The salad was amazing, the steak & potatoes perfection! The grand finale was white chocolate bread pudding. It was perfection! Thank you, D for making our dining experience exceptional.

Got the roasted half chicken and skin was crispy but meat was very dry. Accompanied salad was drenched in dressing but awkward with 4 whole leaves of bib lettuce. Dessert was a huge disappointment - it was supposedly the reason for the hour long wait and the Berry Lavender Cobbler was just a crumbled average biscuit with warm berry mix. Very odd and unremarkable. Would not recommend.
Amazing service and literally the best chicken piccata I have ever had. The chicken was JUICY, y'all. And yet had a crisp exterior. With SALT FLAKES. Just order it. Trust me. #capers

We had a redo and we're immediately taken to our table. Our server came and welcomed us and shared with us all the features and favorites. I started off with an old fashion drink. She said it was their staple drink so I tried it and it was fantastic. It really put me in a mellow mood. Then we had appetizers. The mushroom toast and the brussel sprouts. The toad had a combination of sweet and savory but the mushrooms brought it all together. The sprouts were topped with crumbled blue cheese and I was very skeptical. After the first bite, that went away real fast. That combination of the blue cheese and the brussel sprouts is something I would have never would go together. Our entrees were the bison steak and the burger. The bison is so tender and full of flavor. The burger is one of the best in the city. Make sure you ask for the homemade aoli to dip your fries. It is delicious. Overall, this is on the list to revisit ASAP. Oh, the butterscotch bread pudding is amazing but I Foote take a picture before we ate it. Enjoy!!!!

The food was delicious overall. I found tge shrimp cocktail awkward in how they served it but overall great food. Zeudd (Zee) was an excellent server. The atmosphere was good. I didn't know this resteraunt was an extension of the hotel so it got crowded around the bar. Other than that, a good experience. read more

We were here for a 10-party birthday party. We loved the inside decor, the bartenders/servers were great, and they accommodated the birthday cake well. The bad thing is that the table ordered 4 hamburgers all at different temperatures: medium, medium well, and well done but after a lengthy wait all the hamburgers came out hockey puck well done. Another complaint at the table was that the portions of the food they received didn't reflect the price they paid, a small piece of salmon and a small bowl of grits. read more

I have had several good experiences here but today was disappointing. I ordered the yard burger, and I was expecting a nice juicy burger with some flavor and flair. It was good beef, but that was all. They gave me a piece of beef with cheese in the bun. I asked the server and he said "oh let me go get you a fried egg to put on it." The whole experience lacked class. The server expected me to assemble my own burger when I'm paying $20 for it. He did take it back and make me a new one when I insisted. The second one came out a bit greasy, it had an egg and cheese on it but nothing else... the freshly fired chips had no salt. Does that sound delicious to anyone else? The other two people in my party said their food was ok. I will not think think of this location again as a good option for Saturday brunch. In fact, with such low standards of letting something leave the kitchen without all the ingredients listed on the menu, then the wait staff simply doesn't give a f*ck and they are probably high, why would I want to return here at all? If they can't do a burger well, what can they do well? read more
Really great place with excellent food and fantastic service. The location is very central and easy to find. We left full and happy! The only reason I couldn't bring myself to give full five stars is for the pricing. They are a little high for drinks and also food. While both were delicious they seemed over priced. read more
This restaurant is located in the beautiful Elyton Hotel in downtown Birmingham. Parking can be difficult to find so be prepared to walk. The day we went we had a group of 12 after our son's college graduation. When we arrived the lady at the hostess desk seemed to not be able to find our reservation at first but luckily someone was able to help her. We were seated immediately. There was only one other party in the restaurant. One of the reasons that I am giving this place a three is because of the service. It was extremely slow and the servers kept forgetting certain items. We went for brunch and the prices were not bad. I have heard that they can be VERY expensive for dinner. Our party agreed that the food was good for the most part, but some members said that the biscuits were hard and that the hashbrowns weren't very good. read more

Great decor inside. Menu took a few adventurous turns. The fried okra turned out to be fried shaved okra .... Main meals of salmon and steak were good but not great. Dessert menu and wine list was pretty limited. House Chardonnay and crime brûlée were ok. Pretty expensive prices for ok food and drink. read more

Not bad for hotel breakfast. Mistook "egg whites" for grits, was informed real eggs aren't used... whatever, tread lightly if you care for quality eggs. Big servings, we left full- all is good. read more
We finally got to try out the yard for brunch and it is now one of my favorite brunch spots in Birmingham. It's located in the back of the Elyton hotel. It's a beautiful restaurant. We tried the fruit loop daiquiri for a drink and it was very unique and did in fact taste like a fruit loop cereal as well. For my entree I went with the chicken pimento biscuit and it's a very generous portion of food. It isn't that spicy either in case you are worried about it being too spicy. The biscuit was very fluffy as well. This place had a fantastic brunch and I will have to try it for dinner in the very near future. I would happily come back here to eat and there is plenty of room if you wanted to go celebrate with a group. #bhamfoodguy read more
I stopped by to eat here again as I picked up a 20% off coupon. On the way in I had the honor of running into the executive chef and thanked her for the delicious food from my prior visits. I was given multiple menus and poured over them for a while before deciding on Steak & Greens for an entree and a Spring Smash cocktail. They were both incredibly delicious and I enjoyed every sip and bite. I went a bit all out and tried out panna cotta for the first time. Unsurprisingly, it was rich in flavor and melted in my mouth. I'll admit that service had been iffy the past few times I've visited, but this time it was courteous and speedy. I believe my server's name was Eric - he was patient while I looked over the menus, checked in with me multiple times, and ensured I had the best experience possible. I had failed to realize that the coupon I had excluded alcohol and I ended up spending a bit more than I expected, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at The Yard. We've been to The Yard a few times and the food is always delicious. We're a big fan. The Yard burger is always amazing, but I got the Spring Pea Risotto this time and the waitress suggested I get shrimp on it and it was so good. I hope this place stays open as they always deliver. read more
If you have a budget to blow, this is a good place! You will experience a HUGE wait, and not pleasant food either! I lived at Elyton hotel for a week with business trip and I booked the hotel with breakfast rate, pretty much I tried their breakfasts and dinner! For dinner, service is soooooooo slow, while dinner took 2 hours! And portion is very small! And the other restaurants in town offers better food than them for sure! And I tried their breakfast too, and wait is still forever! They take me seated, and I have waited for 35 min to get my breakfast dishes and this happened all the time(i tired their breakfasts for 4 days). Best recommendation is their mobile Bay omelette. Personally I love their breakfast than dinner, if I do not have any breakfast rate, I will not spend $30 breakfast with them! read more

We chose to come here for brunch on a Saturday when we were in the area, most other places were closed. The menu was fairly small, and had 6-7 options for entrees. I just wanted a salad so I got the omelette, it was okay. It was filled with a lot of goat cheese, and a lot of sun dried tomatoes, so those were the only flavors I tasted. We also got the parfait, that was enjoyable. The service was good at first, but then it took about 30 minutes after we finished eating to get the check. Overall I didn't hate it but it wasn't anything special. If we were staying at the Elyton I would be happy with this breakfast. read more
Okay where to begin? This is a hotel restaurant. I have never found a hotel restaurant that has quite lived up to its advertising, hype etc. Unfortunately this place was not an exception. We were in a large party of 12. We were seated at two round tables pushed together. We went for Saturday morning brunch. The menu had a broad selection of breakfast items that could satisfy a lot of pallets. I ordered the simple breakfast bacon eggs biscuit with gravy and hash browns. When my meal arrived the eggs were cooked over easy as ordered the bacon was evenly cooked and crisp the hash browns appeared more to be a cross between the hash browns I would usually get and a potato pancake. My biscuit was hard and dry around the edges and bottom and here was no gravy on my plate. After two requests of the waitress for the gravy I finally got some after about 15 minutes. I enjoyed the gravy however I like to put the gravy on a biscuit and eat it together. Having a biscuit which was hard and dry detracted from that enjoyment. The other breakfast items that were ordered around the table appeared to be quite good the chicken and waffles the breakfast skillet all looked appetizing. I was pleasantly surprised by their coffee it was bold and flavourful without the bitterness that I am accustomed to at most restaurants. My overall impression of the place was that they are on the right track but still seem to have a few bugs to work out. This is probably a place I would give a try again to see if they work out these issues. The food was priced a little on the high side but not prohibitively so. I generally like to visit a restaurant at least twice before I review it. Because you never know if you came on a good day or a bad day. I would recommend trying them out to see what experience you have. read more

The food here is good and the service is good too! However, this place is VERY pricey for what it is. It's a hotel restaurant and most people who eat here are staying at the hotel on a business trip and expensing the meal. I had the steak and it was nice size steak and it was cooked perfectly medium and it tasted good, but it wasn't $52 good for a steak. The dessert was a chocolate cheesecake, and it was $12. For $12 a slice, I was expecting at least as a big of a slice as I would get at Cheesecake Factory , but it was about half the size. Overall, good food and good service, but just way too pricey for what you're getting. read more
