Great food and amazing staff! The parking can be a little tricky, so I definitely recommend using the valet service. The atmosphere is great and the whole place has a great vibe!

We hadn't been to Galley in several years and unfortunately we were underwhelmed by our recent experience. The positives... This place is absolutely adorable and has a nice ambience for a date night! It is located in a historic early 1900s grand home in the Highland Park area of Birmingham. It's been beautifully renovated with an open kitchen, a bar, and there's also some outdoor garden type patio seating. There's convenient complimentary valet out front. We were promptly greeted on our Christmas Eve visit and given an option of two seaters. We started with the pimento cheese poppers that were tasty but a little overpriced and some warm bread arrived shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, those were the highlight. Not feeling too enthusiastic by the menu offerings, for entrees we both chose the turkey and dumplings, suggested by our server since it was a seasonal addition to the menu. This was such a poorly conceived dish that consisted mostly of two salty biscuit-like mounds with very little vegetable or even turkey for that matter. Priced at $34 we found it to be a complete rip off. Aside from that, service was average for the price point and it took a while to even get our check or even spoons to eat the broth. Perhaps it was just an off night given the holiday. C-

Galley & Garden is located in downtown Birmingham at a beautiful old home location. Valet service is offered at arrival, but street parking is also available around the corner. Service was quick and very attentive. Onto food, this is a perfect place for elevated American food. I enjoyed a salad, beef entree, and key lime mousse. The beef entree was cooked perfectly, and the mashed potatoes were a great side. I absolutely loved the key lime pie mousse - it was tart and sweet. My friends enjoyed their decadent chocolate cake. This gets a 4 from me instead of 5 because it feels more like basic elevated American food. Don't get me wrong, it is still delicious, but I feel like I could find similar food at other establishments! The prices are also higher in proportion to the quality of the dishes in my opinion.

We went last weekend for our anniversary and we had a wonderful time. We had probably the best meal we've had since we moved her about 2 years ago. The portions were huge! Everything came out within an appropriate time and at an appropriate temp! The garden and building are beautiful and they have complimentary valet. Savannah was our server and she was very attentive. Megan was also awesome. She has a great passion for wine and was chatting with us and some of the other tables. She was very sweet and she made our night.

This was the second time I came here and the food is always excellent. The service was super fast and amazing. Our waitress gave suggestions with great insight and knowledge. However the cocktails were disgusting! Margarita was missing something...made me shake it was so gross. Instead of dessert we opted for Espresso Martinis. Why make them any other way than the traditional way? Not sure because this was way too sweet. Great food maybe stick to wine here.

Fish Highlight

Always a 5 star meal at Galley & Garden. The pimento cheese fritters are amazing and a must. We got the scallop and fish highlight and they were amazing. Anything with their cheese grits are to die for!

Definitely a fantastic place for a special occasion or date nite. The food was wonderful, cooked perfectly and all very delicious. The service is FANTASTIC. Attire is a little dressy at dinner time, but also comfortable.

Service is great and they have an in-house sommelier so pairing is made easy and great! The food is great and the experience is all-around great!

Such an underrated spot to eat in Birmingham! I loved the atmosphere the building was gorgeous and so cozy & not too loud like other restaurants. The food was incredible as well, literally everything we ordered was a 10/10. Get the bread pudding!

NY Strip with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts

I had the NY Strip special it had great flavor but unfortunately it was severely overcooked along with a free other people at my table. None of the steaks were ordered medium rare and medium but all arrived severely medium and medium well. The private room we were in was spectacular however, great ambiance!

Pimento cheese appetizer

We will definitely be back. The interior is cozy and feels like a dinner at a close friend's house ... I'd love to come here with six or seven people and sit in the dining room to the right as you walk in -- very nice. Abigail was our server and she was super sweet and attentive. She checked back regularly. She knew the menu and explained things well when asked about a specific dish. The menu is creative and interesting. Tonight I ordered the duck pot pie and the pimento cheese appetizer. We also ordered the Caesar salad and Romain lettuce salad. They have a buttermilk dressing, which is their version of ranch as well as a peach vinaigrette which I loved. I'd like to come back and try the watermelon salad. They have some classy big band music playing lightly in the background. The restaurant is pretty quiet but that could be the day and time we showed up (Sunday evening). The fried pimento cheese pairs nice with the five pepper jelly. I must admit I wasn't brave enough to try fried green tomatoes with lobster on top ha ha. However, I'm sure these folks can do that exactly the way it's supposed to be done. Maybe I'll try that next time. The bread is served hot with butter and is delicious with a light sweetness. They are very generous with their simple syrup for the sweet tea. You can make the tea as sweet as you want, and it comes out in a cool looking container similar to that of an unbranded Coke bottle. Finally, we had the banana pudding topped with whipped cream and graham cracker crumbles. It did not disappoint. Call some friends and plan a meal together here. We enjoyed it very much. As always, be kind to your servers.

Brunch with the girls was fun! Much needed & appreciated !

I recently came here with a friend for my belated Bday brunch. She made reservations for 11:30 , we both valet parked and was immediately greeted/ seated once we entered. So smooth .. easy I always love the ambiance /mood here and this time there was live music! Always a welcomed backdrop in this type of setting. I hate to drop a star in this review but hear me out. I ordered the 3 course option to which I opted for : granola parfait (appetizer), chicken and waffle (entree) and the key lime mousse for dessert. Guys , I LOVED everything except my entree (chicken and waffle). It was very lackluster and I just was underwhelmed. I didn't even eat it all. So sad Everything else about our experience was top tier as I've grown accustomed to anytime I come here.

Amazing! I'm visiting from out of town and wanted to take my sister somewhere nice for her birthday. The food was good, we had the Maple salmon and the braised beef as entrees, the strawberry salad, but the star were the sherry glazed brussel sprouts. I ordered them twice!! So good. Our server John was very nice and accommodating. My kids have a dairy allergy and he was very helpful with navigating the menu and ensuring things fit our dietary restrictions. My sister lives in town and will definitely be back, I'll be sure to make it a stop next time I visit.

One Star Rarely do I…read morefeel compelled to leave a one-star review, but our experience at Vino was truly one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. It started before we even stepped inside. Our party of six waited nearly 15 awkward minutes outside at the hostess station before a single employee acknowledged us. Once seated, we were placed in a back room that was at least quieter than the front of the restaurant--which was nearly deafening--so that felt like the only small win of the evening. Unfortunately, everything else went downhill fast. After being seated, it took another 15+ minutes just for the waitress to take our drink orders. Appetizers followed and were mediocre at best, nothing remotely memorable or worth the wait. My Caesar salad was laughable. It advertised house-made chunky croutons--there were three, each no larger than a Hershey's Kiss. The salad itself was watery and bland, as if the lettuce hadn't been dried before the dressing was added. I even had to ask for pepper, which somehow confused the waitress. The main course was the final insult. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe with Conecuh sausage, priced at $31. The "sausage" consisted of three tiny pieces, totaling maybe one ounce combined. For that price? Are you kidding me? By the end of the meal, our table was stunned--not satisfied. Little to no protein, minimal substance, and zero justification for the prices. Our bill for four people came to $285, and everyone left feeling taken advantage of. This wasn't just disappointing--it was egregious. Poor service, underwhelming food, and wildly inflated prices make this a restaurant I will never return to or recommend

The event was advertised online with pre purchased tickets to start at 3. We showed up at 3 and were told that it actually started at 4. No problem, we had a drink inside and enjoyed the vibe. When we tried to cash out, it was a little difficult. There were extra people helping but they ignored me and my friend and walked away after clearing the men at the bar. When the bartender cashed us out, she charged us for the event that we'd purchase tickets for online and that was an ordeal trying to get a credit. As of the morning after, my bank account has a charge and no credit. All in all, I have 4 transactions (all charges) from them when there should be 2. The apps were a nice touch to the event and people seemed to be having fun.

The ambiance was great with lights on the tables, low lighting overall and plenty of room between the tables. We definitely felt like we were in our own little corner, could hear each other talk, and we did not have to listen to others conversations. I really enjoyed the mocktail I ordered. It was called the Sinaloa Sunrise and was much more than a few juices poured together. It was full of flavor, and I actually said "Wow" out loud as I drank it. It included pineapple juice, lime juice, habanero brown sugar syrup, sage syrup, and grenadine sink. Before I ordered it, i I wondered about the sage syrup, but it really added to the taste. For an appetizer, we shared the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio. Our friend suggested it and he was right on the money. It consisted of fresh horseradish, truffle aioli, fingerling potatoes, pickled mustard seeds, arugula, and caciotta al tartufo. It was melt in your mouth goodness. For my entree, I went with the 8 oz Filet. It was cooked perfectly, and we shared a side order of the Brussels Sprouts Calaprese. They were absolutely delicious and plenty for the three of us. This wonderful evening ended with dessert. I went with the Bananas Foster Cheesecake. It was good, but it needed more caramel. It included brown butter caramel, pistachio banana crumble, spiced ice cream, white chocolate crèmeux and white chocolate pearls. Was this an expensive dinner? Yes, but it was well worth it. You definitely are paying for a whole experience including unique flavors in every bite and wonderful service. Our server, Matt, made the night perfect.

We were greeted with the warmest hospitality you can imagine and our waiter, Chris, was so kind and knowledgeable. He thoroughly went over the menu and Emma, his assistant, didn't let our glass get less than half full all night. They were both extremely attentive and personable as well. Chef Kyle greeted us and made sure we were enjoying everything and taken care of. Each dish reflects the passion for his craft. He described a few dishes perfectly - one being the waygu croquettes. He said they were like French onion soup in a ball and deep fried. We enjoyed every bite and I told Chris that we'd take 27 more of them We also got beer carpaccio - compliments of the chef. This was my first time trying it anywhere and I was pleasantly surprised. The truffle aioli, cheese, and arugula atop thinly sliced beef that reminded me of prosciutto. Each bite was a little different - would get again. The focaccia is not to be skipped either. Warm, soft, fluffy, with flaky salt and olive oil. Done. The Caesar salad is one like we've never had before. The cured lemon set this over the top and added a tangy yet sweet component. I'm not usually one to rave about a Caesar salad but this was top tier. My spicy lobster vodka pasta was phenomenal and just the right amount of spicy. Extremely flavorful and had big chunks of lobster. The bread crumbs on top added the perfect crunch. David loved his steak and his only complaint was that he needed a serrated knife to cut it with. I heard a lady at a table beside us say the same thing Not to say that it wasn't cooked perfectly - because it was. We loved the Gouda fries and the crispy brussel sprouts were probably my favorite brussels I've ever had (!!!). The affogato was heavenly (never met one I didn't like). And they included a cannoli with a birthday candle. If you can't tell, we had an exquisite evening here. It met and exceeded all expectations. I can see us dining here for many many celebrations to come.
