First time trying out this wine bar and I really enjoyed it. My first interaction was over the phone bc I wanted to reserve an area for 8-10 people. The staff was very friendly and helpful and answered all my questions. And also was understanding when I had to change the date due to the weather. I love that they had a parking lot. Tip: Don't scan the barcode to pay til you are inside. They will validate your tix! Easy process!! The space was cozy & inviting. I recently attended a guided wine tasting here. The tasting was so informative and I really enjoyed the experience. I had no idea they offered a room to host events, that can be rented out! The room is quite spacious and was perfect for the wine tasting event. We sampled 2 whites and 3 reds. There were small bites to snack on as well. All of the staff were hands on and provided nice customer service throughout the evening. Check out Cattleya Wines as they are very delicious at a reasonable price point!!! My favs of the night were The Initiation' Syrah and Alma de Cattleya Sauvignon Blanc. read more

We visited the Red or White for our January Book Club and I really enjoyed my visit. It has been on my list to visit for a while. It exceeded my expectations with great service from the time we arrived. I loved the wine area which had so many options. We had the perfect section for our party which allow for good conversation. They have $20 wine flights with snack plates which was a great deal and perfect. This weekend featured wines from Spain and my favorite was the 4 Monos! I'll be adding it to my wine list. What a great place to meet friends for drinks and a bite to eat. I've been to a couple of other locations of this restaurant and have enjoyed it immensely each each time. They have a woodfired pizza oven on premises, an entire room full of wine akin to a library setting! all varieties and price ranges as well as a bar make your beverage selection process simpler. We ordered a charcuterie plate, gave them a few instructions, but basically left it up to the Chef to fill it out and you did a wonderful job job with it. Came for lunch today with my daughter and oh my goodness it was amazing! We had the Caesar salad and the seasonal heirloom pizza and must say it was the best combo of flavors I've ever had on a pizza! Red or White OR BOTH! Having traveled to wineries across the globe, it's quite exciting to see the vast selection of some truly spectacular wines, that ROW has. Not to mention the accessible prices. Nobody has such a fine Chilean selection as we've found at ROW. Their PRISMA Sauvignon Blanc, is fresh and palatable for a warm day. Crisp and fruity and almost spritzy! Not nearly as sweet or as bubbly as a Riesling, but for those who don't like too sweet or too dry, PLEASE make sure ROW keeps their PRISMA wines, in stock. Their charcuterie/antipasti boards are always fresh and lovely. They'll chill and serve your wine at table side, for a mere $10 corking fee, on top of the price of your selected bottle. Can't beat that with a stick! As far as their servers, they're second to none. They're alert and swift on their toes. None of them come to your table every two seconds, to interrupt. It's as if they have cameras and see what you need. Whether it's another pour, some ice, more water, anything. Tip highly and accordingly, it's well deserved. If you can't afford to tip 25-30%, you can't afford to go out. From the moment you walk in, to the moment you depart, you'll already be planning your next visit. If you have ANY issue, bring it to their attention. It'll be addressed swiftly and amenably. We had a wonderful time at the Friends and Family soft opening last night! Half of the building is a large wine shop. There are plenty of options to please any wine drinker. They also have cheese and meats available for purchase, wine accessories, wooden cheese boards, and gift arrangements. There's also a large window where you can sit and watch the chefs prepare the menu items for the wine bar and cook in the pizza oven. The other half of the building is a wine bar. The ambiance is very hip and inviting. The seating arrangements offer low top, high top, bar and outdoor seating. The patio out front would be a perfect place to have wine and cheese with a group of friends or for a date night. We ordered the Red Wine Cheese Board (there's also a white wine version) and the blueberry goat cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped dates. The board came with 3 different cheeses, a baguette and their house-made strawberry preserves. I've never had preserves on a cheese board and I now think that they all should come with strawberry preserves. The dates were a perfect combination of sweet and savory. Everything was delicious and was perfectly paired with our red wine. There are lots of options as far as wine is concerned. You can come in the shop and buy a bottle (or a few) to take home. In the wine bar, you can consume any bottle that you buy (with a $10 corkage fee) from the shop, order it by the glass or even order it by the pour. The service in both the wine shop and the restaurant (Jackie was our server) were great. They were so polite, knowledgeable and attentive. Some other menu items that we saw that looked great were the bruschetta, margarita pizza and the build-your-own charcuterie boards. Lovely place, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Oysters were great. I didn't enjoy the CA Pinot Grigio, mostly due to the taste found in the wines from that year. I'm my opinion, I wouldn't have gone with that choice for the menu. The Chenin Blanc was wonderful as was the Grenache blend (which I'm actually going back to buy a bottle of despite the 2020 year, funny how that works out). Red or White has an expanded selection of wine for any type of gift! It's a store and also a cute little restaurant. All their staff is welcoming and so lovely. The space is intimate and it can be very loud when it is full, but it's a great spot for a date or girls night! The Grenache blend they have on their menu is perfect, great well rounded red wine. The anti pasta plate is good too, I just wish they wouldn't choose bologna has one of their meats. It seems cheap to me. However, their white beans are so freaking good! I really wish they had wine tasting or flights, red, white, bubbly. I would love to see paired chocolate tasting or types of desserts. Everyone really liked their food, but we all did comment on the limited wine options they had on their menu. There is a wide selection of actual wine bottles for retail sale, but their menu for wine by the glass was small. They had the basic wines, so we were satisfied. Each of us selected a different glads of red from the menu, and we split a pizza and two appetizers. The Special Pizza with the pesto base was phenomenal! We had the vegetable board which had crispy roasted potatoes, roasted green beans, delicious aioli, beets, grilled yellow squash, and mushrooms. We also had the chicken board which had grilled airline chicken, fresh tomatoes, a chicken liver pâté, and selected cheeses. The boards are accompanied with various sauces and d spices. Dailey- the server/person behind the bar(doesn't even qualify as a bartender) worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant in 25 years of dining. Her arrogance and pettiness was beyond!!!!! First off she did not do her job as a server. She did not ask if we had ever been to Red or White nor did she offer to explain how the wine menu works. When I tried to ask her about the bottles available and the small menu I had in front of me. She was so rude to me and condescending that it completely caught me off guard. All I wanted to know was how to buy a bottle of wine and if there was an extensive list available. The only thing she needed to do was her job, instead she decided to be as nasty as possible and constantly try to challenge every request or question we had. You guys are a WINE BAR, a place where knowledge from your server guides your customers experience. If she can't do that and isn't willing to, why is she working for you?? Secondly she poured out not one but two of my glasses of wine out before I finished the last sip. She did this intentionally, because the second time she said immediately "there was nothing in there" and looked at me dead in the eye knowing full well she was lying. Then she did it to my friend and was so condescending to her that we all had to double take. Thirdly when we asked for our check and said we wanted to split it 4ways, she told us when she comes back from the kitchen she EXPECTED all 4 cards to be present. My friend said to her, very politely, that there was no need for her snarky comments and all she did was reply with more attitude. There a lot of nice people out there looking for work, that would do a MUCH better job representing your company. Because of her, myself nor the 3 women with me will never return. We will all make to let our friends know what a terrible experience we had at such nice venue, because of your SERVER DAILEY She was also rude to your food runner that was bringing food out to everyone seated at the bar. Let me tell you.... this place is it. Not only is there a variety of great reds, but there is also several quality brews to choose from. Do you want pasta? They got it. Maybe feeling some pizza? Look no further, they got it. What about charcuterie boards for the family? Guess what? They got it. I believe the server's name was Charlotte, and she led me to the most perfect items they had to offer. On a side note, there's a nice place across the street to pregame called "The Rougaroux." What a nice addition to the Forest Park area! The former whistling table spot is so cool and I was so excited when I found out a wine shop/restaurant was opening there. They have outdoor seating and are dog friendly which is always nice. I went with some girl friends and we got the white wine cheese board, grilled vegetable platter and dates. We paired it with white wine they recommended. The prices were extremely reasonable and the food was very good. It was such a nice evening on their patio. I would love to go back and try some of their other food options, such as the pizzas or meat platters. They have routine wine tastings that look like a lot of fun as well. read more

We have been to this restaurant several times and found the food to be delicious and wine selection (both in the store or on the menu) is excellent as well as reasonably priced. The staff seem great, also. The only issue that I have is that they need some quality control w/ food portions.   - The first time we went with another couple, we ordered appetizers and a couple of pizzas. The pizzas were delicious, but interestingly, they were very different sizes.  We just assumed it was due to 2 different kinds of pizzas - margarita (very small) and rosemarino (what we expected and saw on other tables).  - The second time my husband and I went, we had appetizers and a margarita pizza and it was the larger size, which was a great surprise although we had loaded up on appetizers thinking the pizza would be small like in our first visit.  -The third time I went with some colleagues, we had the market salads and a pizza. Three salads came out much larger than the 4th salad (it was about 1/2 the size of the other three) and the pizza was the larger size (thankfully).   - Finally, the 4th time we went it was with some family who were visiting. We ordered 2 pizzas and just like the first time, one was very small and the other was larger.  Not expecting the smaller size pizza (hoping that they had fixed that issue), we had to order a 3rd one so that everyone had enough to eat.   It's too bad that someone in the kitchen doesn't monitor this. When you pay a fixed price for something, it isn't fair that sometimes it comes out smaller than other times.  Food portions should be consistent so that you know what you are getting. This, hopefully, should be an easy fix.  We'll try it again, but if we find that we are paying full price and get a smaller portion than what we do at other times then we are sadly done with this place for food, but we'll still come to enjoy just a glass of wine and atmosphere.  It just isn't fair to pay $18 and get only a small, personal size pizza or $9 and get a half portion salad. read more

When I decide to give a review I like to be fair. So i will start by speaking of the good things about this place. The food is really good. The wine selection is really good. We live in the neighborhood and have visited three times. I will say the service has been good. We dropped in for dinner the other night. My husband is older and has some limitations that we try to discreetly manage by sitting in places that are easily accessible to him IF available. You can tell he has some issues but that doesn't stop us and we enjoy going out and will continue until it is just not possible. The sign said "please wait to be seated" so when the host approached us we noticed that the spot we usually sat at was available and asked to sit there. (the two other times we were there, we sat on one end of the table and another party was seated at the other end, which was perfectly fine) but this time we were told that we could not sit there because it was for larger parties. We decided to try outside because it was the only other seating that was available that my husband could easily get in and out of more easily. It was chilly and we asked if they would turn on the heaters. The answer was no because they thought it might rain, which it did not. So we decided to come back inside and sit at the bar even though navigating the higher bar stools were difficult for him. The person behind the bar was completely bland and acted like she didn't want to be there. Never smiled once, was polite ISH got the job done, but not a great experience. We ate our meal, which was quite good, but didn't sit and visit due to the fact that my husband was very uncomfortable, so we paid and as we were leaving we noticed, the heaters were turned on outside and our original seats that we had asked for, TWO people were sitting there with NO ONE else at the table. What happened to "that table is for large parties only"? The host that evening should learn a little more about customer service along with the person behind the bar. Such a great place to be ruined by two people who don't understand building relationships which equals repeat customers. Especially to people who live within walking distance of your restaurant. Remember....your food and wine can be great but people never forget how you make them feel. That's a fact. read more
