We started with the biscuits with whipped fig butter ($8) and they were good. We also got the crab claws and I enjoyed the cornmeal breading and homemade cocktail sauce. ($26) I got the Greg Abrams red snapper with cheese grits and green beans. This was good and the fish was flavorful but I couldn't get past the dryness of it. I enjoy a flaky, moist fish - not one that I have to saw into. ($46) David got the gulf flounder and jumbo lump crab. He enjoyed but said there could've been more of it. ($51) It was very crowded and I absolutely would not try it without a reservation. They obviously do something right. It feels like Mountain Brook locals absolutely love it and it's probably a weekly spot for them - just the vibe I got. It's casual but you could dress up and fit in too. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Parking was horrendous - as it's downtown Mtn Brook. We circled around several painfully narrow streets before finding a spot. But didn't have to pay for parking so that was a plus I guess. We would go again if someone else wanted to but not on our own regard.

I enjoy coming here during the summer months because the tomato appetizer is my favorite thing on the menu - so fresh, so light. I always ask for a spoon to get every drop of that balsamic sauce. We love the steak, duck, pork belly, and honestly, there hasn't been anything we don't like on the rotating menu. We try to sit at the chefs counter - we love seeing the food being prepped and it gives us ideas for what to order/what looks good coming out to tables! 1000% recommend!

I'm not hip so I'm just hearing this term. Anyways, we arrived a few minutes early but the nice hostess immediately seated us and this set the tone for how the rest of the evening would go. Our server, Kendra did a fantastic job. Such great hospitality from opening act to closing act. They like to take your order all at the same time just to help with the flow of how the food comes out. For apps we had the crispy pork belly & heirloom tomato salad. Both dishes were amazing, colorful and so balanced. Not to mention, filling but not in a too full way. (Commercial break)I did have a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives - delicious! Back to the food. For my entree I had the oven roasted grouper and my friend had their steak dish. Yet again, both of us thoroughly enjoyed our selections! I really don't think we could have gone wrong with any of their menu options. Everything was so fresh & the presentation really made the food that much more enjoyable! To end our meal, my friend selected the blueberry cake for us to share for dessert. Whew!!!! The plan was to only taste a bite or two and get the rest to go. We couldn't stop eating this delectable cake! We tried but it was one of the lightest, most beautiful cakes I've ever had. Pro tip - don't skip dessert!!!! I can't forget the ambiance. It's spacious, comfortable and decorated nicely. There's also outside patio dining and bar seating available. This was a great experience and I can't wait to return soon!

It might have been the slowest dinner I ever had in my life. I had a 7:00 PM reservation and I arrived early and sat down at 6:50. After being greeted and ordering wine I placed an order of the pork belly appetizer at 7:05. The pork belly appetizer came out at 8:00, 55 minutes after ordering. I placed the entree order at 7:30 and it came out at 8:30. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. Two three tops and a two top so not even large tables. Why on earth is it taking an hour to get out an order. I have my credit card at 8:50 and got it back at 9:15. 25 minutes to charge a card? I mean I guess you can get busy but the 4 tables here had 3 people helping with them. At no point when the server came by my table did I ever say I needed another minute. So, a 2.5+ hour dinner as a single diner was ridiculous, especially considering they were not busy. The food here was truly incredible, some of the best I've had anywhere I've traveled. I absolutely loved it. You can tell they source fresh, local ingredients daily, and that commitment clearly shines through in the quality of every dish. I started with the pork belly appetizer, which was outstanding. The cut had the perfect balance of meat and fat, expertly cooked with the fat beautifully rendered. The flavors were exceptional as well, finished with a maple glaze and paired with a sweet potato cornbread that was completely unique and memorable. For my main course, I ordered the smoked ribeye, and it was flawless. The quality was top-tier, with gorgeous marbling that truly reflected a prime cut. The smoke flavor was perfectly balanced--present but never overpowering. It had a beautiful crust, was expertly seasoned, and cooked to an ideal temperature. It honestly could not have been better. They also offered a few amuse-bouches that were equally impressive. A single bite of cherry tomato with lamb bacon was one of the best bites I've ever had. To finish, I was served a watermelon and muscadine sorbet with a St-Germain finish, an incredibly thoughtful and skillful dessert. There is an immense amount of talent in this kitchen. You will never be disappointed by the food here. My experience seemed to be overshadowed by the slow service and near the end I was so ready to just leave. However I might consider returning just for the food.

We brought some family that was in town, and we were definitely pleased with the experience!

Tight corner but still very intimate. The overall restaurant vibes were bright and fresh. We got 3 apps and 2 entrees. The octopus dish was delicious. Brussel sprouts was covered in a rich sweet sauce. We're a savory couple so not too interested. The pork belly was cooked well and topped over grits with an egg on top. Wow! My husband got the duck confit and I got the streak frites. Overall the sauces on both were way too salty so it was hard for us to eat and finish. Reasonably priced as we got 4 drinks, 3 apps, and 2 entrees totaling a little over $200. Overall I still have a great time with my love but unfortunately I don't think we will come back.

Super romantic atmosphere! Wear a little glitz so you shine for your man in the dim romantic light! Heavy curtains, cozy booths, expensive artwork with special indirect lighting, and exquisite 5 star service and food combine to make a memorable evening. When your salad fork comes properly chilled and you are served immediately with complimentary bruschetta, one realizes Amore is no regular restaurant! I had slightly spicy Italian sausage and mushroom pesto pasta and hubby had Shrimp Alfredo. Both were excellent. They included generous serving of green salad which had nice additions to the lettuce with house made vinegarette. The bread was fabulous also, offered with olive oil and spices. The location of Amore is a lovely two story strip center, so it is a bit of a hidden jewel. We had barely saved room for a special dessert next door! We drove the short distance to Cedar Lane leading to the precious little Italian village ( Villagio Colafrancesco) hidden in the woods to the right of the shopping center with Amore. Park behind the strip center. Check hours as usually only open on Thurs, Fri and Saturday but this is the way to end a most romantic evening! Attentive, knowledgeable, and well-paced without ever feeling intrusive. The atmosphere was one of the highlights of the evening. The historic home setting creates an upscale dining experience that feels elegant without being overly formal. Adding to the charm was the background music. The selection of 1920s-1940s big band music fit the setting perfectly and gave the restaurant a timeless feel that enhanced the entire experience. We started with the Pimento Cheese Fritters and House Pepper Jelly. The fritters were crunchy, cheesy, and flavorful. The pepper jelly paired nicely and was one of the highlights of the meal. Bread service with butter was included. It was fine, but fairly average. The surprise star before the entrées was the soup of the day, a combination of collard greens, black-eyed peas, Conecuh sausage, and chicken broth. Comforting, flavorful, and distinctly Southern, it was excellent and something I would gladly order again. For cocktails, we ordered the Banana Rum Old Fashioned and the Golden Paper Plane. Both were well-balanced and enjoyable. My wife ordered the Lobster Ravioli. The presentation was beautiful, and the cream sauce and sausage worked well together. The dish was rich and satisfying, though it could have used a little more salt to bring everything together. I ordered the Short Rib Pot Pie. The presentation was excellent, but the flavor did not quite justify the price point. It was good, but not memorable. For dessert, my wife ordered the Banana Pudding. The presentation was excellent, but we both felt it could have used a little more sweetness. I ordered the Bourbon Pecan Bread Pudding, and it was outstanding. Rich, warm, flavorful, and easily the best thing I ate all evening. The bourbon, pecans, and vanilla ice cream came together beautifully. If you visit, save room for dessert and order this one. Galley & Garden delivers excellent service, a beautiful atmosphere, and thoughtful presentation throughout the meal. While a few dishes fell short of expectations for the price, the overall experience was enjoyable and made for a great pre-anniversary celebration.

We got there right when they opened so I will allow them some grace for taking a while to get our order.. but there was no explanation of the menu, no drink suggestions.. just here's your menu. We ordered shrimp cocktail, and oysters to start...now the oysters have always wow'd me, this time i wasn't too impressed with the selection I chose. For my entree, I order the fried snapper that was cooked extra crispy (I didn't ask for) at $60. The snapper wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't $60 good either. There presentation was not the best, no side on the place. I also ordered the pink lady peas that were damn near raw and dry. I tried my best to eat them but the bartender saw my struggle and offered to change them out. I will say the carrots were pretty good. I ended up adding a lobster tail which was a whopping $33 for ONE 5oz tail. Our bill was $226. I was extremely disappointed because the price didn't match the quality of food or the experience. Ocean has always been one of my favorites (for well over 17 years) however this gave Fish Market quality with Beverly Hills prices. We probably won't be back. Birmingham has far better options. Did I mention they had a bottom shelf selection of alcohol options and had the audacity to up charge for Tito's and Grey Goose?? Ridiculous!
