    Strawberry bread pudding

I am visiting family in Hoover, and friends of the family highly recommended Toujours. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door, and seated immediately with Ben as our server. Seems that Ben is also the manager. The menu had a nice selection of appetizers and entrées. Our party of three chose the pork chop, scallop entrée, fried oysters, and a salad. The food was delicious, and the service was spectacular! I have a feeling that my family who lives locally will be back.

Really nice employees. Average ambience. Perfectly fine for a meal out, but maybe not a romantic date setting per se. Food was above average. 5-star for their burger, great flavor. Hub was not a fan of their BBQ Shrimp, but his favorite is the best BBQ Shrimp in NOLA, so maybe his standard is a little high in this aspect. Bread pudding is 4-star for it's uniqueness with the strawberry pieces inside and the basil ice cream. Overall worth trying.

The beef tenderloin smash burger was awesome, stacked high, with an egg, bacon, pimento cheese, and fries. Not pictured is the strawberry bread pudding with Basil ice cream. The ice cream tastes different due to the basil, but it was good. Connor provided excellent service, he was consistent, had a great attitude, always had a smile on his face. The energy of the restaurant was great, it had a relaxed atmosphere. Even as it filled up, it never got loud. Everyone was busy enjoying their company and food. We were welcomed with an infectious smile and energy by the hostess. The chef/owner greeted us at our table before things picked up in the restaurant. Definitely will be back!

NOLA shrimp! 6 to an order ( we ate a few before I remembered to take a pic)

Service was spot on! Connor was great. His recommendations were excellent. Good and busy for a random Tuesday. Cocktails were yummy. My only gripe is the dang bar is tall for short armed people lol :)

Everything was amazing! From the service to the quality of food. I would say the scallops were not cost effective commensurate to portion size but every single thing tasted great!! Would highly recommend. Also get the regular bread if you're not a fan of hard toasted bread with the dip.

We were able to make a reservation for inside dining which I liked because it was a hot June Alabama day, but I would have preferred outside because it was so loud inside, there was no sound suppression, and the tables were very close together. The outside patio was nice and covered. Next time I will request to sit outside. We started with the sourdough bread which I highly recommend! There was enough pieces to have one while you waited for your dinner, and to save one to eat with your dinner. My husband ordered the deviled eggs and really enjoyed them. For our entree, we shared the roasted chicken. It was a half chicken with lemon, garlic, shallots and potato gratin. It was plenty for both of us. We even had leftovers. This is probably because of the appetizers and we had stopped for drinks at Cayo Coco before dinner. We usually skip dessert, but my husband really wanted to try the chocolate custard, bittersweet chocolate custard with chantilly cream. The presentation was beautiful. I had a couple of bites and it also tasted amazing. Our waiter recommended a dessert wine that paired with the custard. He let us try a couple of sips, and the sweet fruitiness really made a difference. The service was amazing. We will definitely be back.

Just a great demeanor, attentive, and made us feel very comfortable. Food - delicious! Amazing cuisine. We had the following which was great: bread, escargot, scallops, mussels and coconut cake. Seriously truly delicious. Ambience- the restaurant is nice. I don't love the wooden bottom chairs. The sound level is high as well so very hard to hear at times. Definitely a lively environment. When you walk in, you're greeted with a warm welcome and transported into an old, cozy cafe in a small French town. Our waitress, Holly, was delightful and knowledgeable about the menu. I started with a Pimm Rose Spritz and thought it was light and refreshing - I was afraid it'd taste like an Aperol spritz but it didn't - no bitterness at all. Mom got an alpine daiquiri and raved about it. We opted for escargots, a fresh baguette, and marinated olives as apps and couldn't have loved them more. The bread was warm and made a nice vehicle for the garlic sauce leftover from the escargots. I got the trout amandine and it was as divine as I remember. I had this dish back in 2020 (I know that specifically because we had to sit outside in a plastic tent to dine here) and have been thinking about it ever since. Would highly recommend. The trout is buttery and flaky and has a light almond-like sauce with slivered almonds on top. Mom got the roasted chicken and veggies and loved how it was cooked to perfection. Everything is so simple yet exquisite. Parking wasn't a huge issue, especially for it being downtown. There are spots in front of the building that you pay for on an app (it was $2) and they offered valet as well. I would absolutely have a reservation (it may even be required). We went on a Tuesday at 4:45 and it was packed by 5. We will be back time and time again!

The octopus dish was delicious. Brussel sprouts was covered in a rich sweet sauce. We're a savory couple so not too interested. The pork belly was cooked well and topped over grits with an egg on top. Wow! My husband got the duck confit and I got the streak frites. Overall the sauces on both were way too salty so it was hard for us to eat and finish. Reasonably priced as we got 4 drinks, 3 apps, and 2 entrees totaling a little over $200. Overall I still have a great time with my love but unfortunately I don't think we will come back.

If you want a flawlessly executed steakhouse dinner in the Birmingham area without the pretentious price tag, this is your place. I ordered the 12oz ribeye with a baked potato, and both were cooked exactly to order. My wife started with their huge, fresh house salad before tackling the massive 16oz ribeye and a fully loaded baked potato. Honestly, the 16oz cut looked like something straight out of The Flintstones--it was beautifully charred, incredibly juicy, and absolutely massive. The service matched the stellar quality of the kitchen. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and kept my sweet tea topped off the entire night (which is no easy task!). We wrapped up the evening with a slice of chocolate cake. It was literally the size of a diner-style napkin dispenser--decadent, moist, and downright delicious. Budget-wise, it's a high-end steakhouse experience, so expect to spend a little money. However, compared to other premium steakhouses around Birmingham, their pricing is incredibly fair and easily on the lower end of the fine-dining spectrum. You get amazing portions, top-tier quality, and fantastic service. Highly recommended!

Attentive, knowledgeable, and well-paced without ever feeling intrusive. The atmosphere was one of the highlights of the evening. The historic home setting creates an upscale dining experience that feels elegant without being overly formal. Adding to the charm was the background music. The selection of 1920s-1940s big band music fit the setting perfectly and gave the restaurant a timeless feel that enhanced the entire experience. We started with the Pimento Cheese Fritters and House Pepper Jelly. The fritters were crunchy, cheesy, and flavorful. The pepper jelly paired nicely and was one of the highlights of the meal. Bread service with butter was included. It was fine, but fairly average. The surprise star before the entrées was the soup of the day, a combination of collard greens, black-eyed peas, Conecuh sausage, and chicken broth. Comforting, flavorful, and distinctly Southern, it was excellent and something I would gladly order again. For cocktails, we ordered the Banana Rum Old Fashioned and the Golden Paper Plane. Both were well-balanced and enjoyable. My wife ordered the Lobster Ravioli. The presentation was beautiful, and the cream sauce and sausage worked well together. The dish was rich and satisfying, though it could have used a little more salt to bring everything together. I ordered the Short Rib Pot Pie. The presentation was excellent, but the flavor did not quite justify the price point. It was good, but not memorable. For dessert, my wife ordered the Banana Pudding. The presentation was excellent, but we both felt it could have used a little more sweetness. I ordered the Bourbon Pecan Bread Pudding, and it was outstanding. Rich, warm, flavorful, and easily the best thing I ate all evening. The bourbon, pecans, and vanilla ice cream came together beautifully. If you visit, save room for dessert and order this one. Galley & Garden delivers excellent service, a beautiful atmosphere, and thoughtful presentation throughout the meal. While a few dishes fell short of expectations for the price, the overall experience was enjoyable and made for a great pre-anniversary celebration.

I ordered the salmon and the plate looked very skimpy. The salmon was cooked very nicely & It tasted fine. I did not taste "maple glaze". Rice pilaf & broccoli were mid. My husband ordered the pork shank and said it was OK. The sweet potato purée with it was probably the best thing out of the whole meal. Bread pudding for dessert and it was too sweet! Our server, Kendra did a fantastic job. Such great hospitality from opening act to closing act. They like to take your order all at the same time just to help with the flow of how the food comes out. For apps we had the crispy pork belly & heirloom tomato salad. Both dishes were amazing, colorful and so balanced. Not to mention, filling but not in a too full way. (Commercial break)I did have a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives - delicious! Back to the food. For my entree I had the oven roasted grouper and my friend had their steak dish. Yet again, both of us thoroughly enjoyed our selections! I really don't think we could have gone wrong with any of their menu options.
