    The duck-- must order
    Sarah T.

Wow. The smoked duck is so amazing that even though it seems like a waste to order the same thing as your ding companion, do it. I enjoyed my redfish and all the lovely locally- sourced vegetables but I was jealous of the duck my husband got, and the waiter said this basically happens to everyone The meal included an amuse bouche and a palate cleanser sorbet. What a nice surprise and it made the whole meal feel special Our friendly waiter recommended the peach cobbler for dessert. As someone who feels that fruit is more of a side dish than a dessert, I was pleasantly surprised by the AMAZING lance of flavors here. Skip the cobbler elsewhere in AL where it will merely be ordinary. Try this one. Our waiter also treated us to beignets when he heard we had not tried them in the South. The chef here is from Louisiana and indeed makes a great beignets Atmosphere is classy old fashioned. Highly recommend this spot if you are downtown and want excellent fresh local food

When you are in the mood for some fine dining in a beautiful venue, check out the menu at Cafe DuPont. The food quality and farm to table fresh vegetables and entrees cannot be surpassed at this fabulous establishment. The service is exceptional with white table cloths and a friendly, professional wait staff. I can't recall a better dining experience.

From start to finish, the meal was wonderful! I ordered the scallops, and they were outstanding. The service overall was attentive and paced in a way that allowed us to enjoy the meal and setting. The atmosphere is cozy yet sophisticated, and I love the French decor. It is a little pricey, but overall a great experience.

    Ribeye

The food was good, not the best I've ever had, but not the worst. However, the restaurant was full of a party to the loudest white trash rednecks hooting and hollering and screaming at each other and management did nothing to quieten them. A certain arrogant sportscaster and his gang of drunken buddies treated the restaurant like a sports bar, interrupting the holiday meals of a number of large parties who knew how to behave. The management FINALLY closed the door, but it was after the other tables had finished their meals and been disrupted. Some people need home training. And every other table in the restaurant was upset and talking about the poor behavior of that group. We paid $500 for our meal and could have had a better experience at Hooters. Beautiful dining room and personal service mad for a memorable evening. The food was spectacular and I highly recommend the ribeye.

Beautiful traditional atmosphere with attentive and knowledgeable staff. This was also an incredible dining experience, complete with amuse bouche, a palate cleanser and end of meal chocolates. The foie gras was the best bite of the night, served on French toast with a berry gastrique, chutney and spiced pairs. The smoked ribeye was delicious and tender with a giant cap. You could really taste the smoky flavor, and it paired excellently with the Boursin potato gratin. The lamb chops were also tender and the veal reduction was delicious. Dessert was good, but not as outstanding as the rest of the meal.

This is a great place for a fine dining experience in downtown. The wait staff was very professional and took their jobs seriously. The drinks were great and we loved the cheese plate appetizer. We tried the trout and scallops both of which were good! It was a little pricey but I think it was fair for a fine dining experience. The only reason I'm giving it a 4/5 and not 5/5 is because the food didn't blow me away but it was still good!

Birthday dinner. Nice ambiance. Food excellent- scallops were cooked to perfection, snapper was okay. Loved the lemon crème brûlée. Service was the best I've had in a while- Cayla was very pleasant and knowledgeable of menu. Valet or street parking

Celebrated a dear friend's birthday. Cuisine was fabulous!! Service is always first class. With that said, we had a new server who was still training. He was not up to the high standard we are use to at Cafe Dupont but the evening was amazing. Ambiance is always a favorite! The lovely, simple but elegant French decor with lovely wall sconces and warm lighting truly welcomes diners.

We had a fantastic visit to Cafe DuPont. Our server Summer, was amazing and explained everything from the meal timing to entrees wonderfully. The overall atmosphere was very cozy. I do recommend reservations, we had a reservation for 2 and the restaurant was completely full. Parking is somewhat limited, it is street only but they do offer valet.

We don't like going out on holidays like Valentines Day so we usually do something the day after. Food: I got the Steak & Eggs. They were great. I did think the "Potato Cake" on the plate was a bit dry but I did eat it all. I was surprised that no Toast was provided for this item. Just an after thought. My wife go the Banana Bread French Toast. She also loved it. Service: This is where "The Essentials" understands what their clients want. Our server was outstanding. I looked around and felt the entire staff really knew how to work with their guests. Refreshing. Ambiance: At first, I thought the restaurant was a bit noisy. Yet my wife and my conversation was not strained. The Ambiance was upscale casual. Value: I thought the prices were a bit high yet the real story was, once I was finished, my mind was asking when the next time I would return. Service at the bar was good considering every seat at the bar was taken. We ordered our food and it was out within 15-20 minutes. Great choice. I also got a side salad with the chipotle ranch dressing and that was very good too. Picture below. For dessert, I was planning on getting the key lime pie, because that is usually my move, but Hayden my server talked me into trying the blueberry cobbler cheesecake instead. I am glad he did. It was very good. Picture below. Between the crowded room, the good service, and the food, this was a very strong experience all the way around. I am giving The Southern Kitchen & Bar 5 stars.

These are real deal professionals who illustrate just how important the people in a restaurant's front truly are. The food? Delicious. It's a wild grab bag of East Asian fare - Chinese, Japanese, Thai - and it's all done extremely well. The portions are small, which is good, since you'll want to try half a dozen things on Current's very deliberately thought-out menu. The Peking Duck is some of the best I've had.
