    Duck Appetizer

We had a fabulous dinner here! The service was so amazing and there were so many things to choose from on the menu it was hard to decide. We ordered 3 appetizers and shared an entree. Starting with oysters, duck and the quail then we got the Seafood cioppino as our entree. All were so phenomenal the only comment is the duck was a little too salty for our taste.

We love the ambiance, such a relaxed vibe. Gentle and easy service. We enjoyed the fried okra, baked oysters, and watermelon w/feta salad to start. The halibut was delicious and filled with flavor. The steak was savory and tender. Perfect choice for celebrations! There's something on the menu for every palate.

This place has nice ambience. Liked it from entrance. The room and tables are really nice. There was a separate room for group events which looked nice. This restaurant is upscale. We were greeted on entry and the waiter that attended to us was first class. I ordered the pork chop and I am glad that I did. The sides were great. Not just saying that. The cream corn was smooth. The broccoli was definitely tasty. The pork chop was moist and had a perfect crust on it. Seriously, I would put that chop up against and pork chop I had every had, close to mine lol. My wife has a salad snd enjoyed it as well. Parking was available in front. This was my birthday outing and I received a complimentary treat.

We sat by the fireplace, it was very nice. We ordered the quail appetizer - I have never had quail, but it was good! For entrees, I got the Red Snapper with corn grits, green beans, and topped with crawfish tails. It was amazing! The top was a little crispy; it was cooked perfectly. The corn grits and green beans were delicious. He got the Beef Tenderloin with potatoes, asparagus and mushrooms. He ordered it medium rare and it was excellent. Our waiter, Phillip, gave great recommendations and was very attentive and helpful. We finished it off with the bread pudding with caramel & chocolate with strawberries - absolutely amazing. Not a single thing was average/mediocre, everything was excellent. Will definitely be going back!

Such good food and great foods paired with one another to bring excellent taste. The cheese grits are by far the best grits I've had before. They are made with a few different cheese and are so good. The service is amazing and all the waiters and waitresses are so friendly and nice. Definitely recommend this place for when you want to treat yourself to a nice meal.

Really nice spot for brunch! Beautiful restaurant, friendly and attentive staff, and great food. We went for brunch and it was a great way to end our visit to Birmingham.

    Best gumbo ever.

It is bright and feels welcoming without being loud or chaotic. I dined in, and the service was quick and friendly. They also make it really easy to spot vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options, which is helpful for people who want something lighter or have specific preferences. Overall, I would definitely come back. It is simple, fresh, and dependable, and the food actually tastes good without trying to be fancy. The service is *excellent* with a capital "E." We ate at the bar, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about every single aspect of the restaurant. They have tried everything on the menu themselves. They can describe any one of the imported liquors up on the wall. These are real deal professionals who illustrate just how important the people in a restaurant's front truly are. The food? Delicious. It's a wild grab bag of East Asian fare - Chinese, Japanese, Thai - and it's all done extremely well. The portions are small, which is good, since you'll want to try half a dozen things on Current's very deliberately thought-out menu. The Peking Duck is some of the best I've had. The cocktails are also excellent, with my favorite being a delicious, earthy combination of coconut, lime, and pandan. It's like an extremely upscale tiki drink. I cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely perfect. 5 stars.

High ceilings and exposed brick are a few of the ways to my heart. If you've seen a post about this place, you've probably seen a picture of the crackly round, artistic dish and wondered what it was. There are dumplings on the underside of it and you break each one off of the crackly part to enjoy. We did enjoy these but I would've loved a soy sauce to dip them in. They came with chili crunch, peanuts, and green onions but I wanted an actual sauce. They were very standard tasting dumplings and there was nothing extraordinary about them unfortunately. As always, we'd looked at the menu beforehand and decided what we wanted. It does state on their website that their menus can change due to freshness and availability. But we'd both decided on an app and entree we wanted only to get there and have none of them on the menu. I do appreciate a rotating menu to accommodate local items, but I would also love for those to be updated on a regular basis. So after rerouting, we decided on the chicken skewers as another app with the dumplings. These were chargrilled, flavorful, and had a nice crust on them. I got shrimp fried rice and Julia got spicy beef noodles. It was fine but I wish the shrimp wouldn't have been cut up. It felt like they chopped them up in order to not put as many in the dish. At $25 for this, I'd like whole shrimp please. There were a few pieces of raw spinach with pepper on the top. I would've loved a sauce of some kind. I would've preferred shrimp hibachi with fried rice from a Japanese place that included vegetables and sauces. This was not *bad* there was just SO much room for improvement. We both agreed that nothing was awful, but for these prices and the hype, we expected more. Our waitress was super friendly. Bonus points because they had match boxes at the host stand! There was a paid parking lot diagonal from the restaurant, so we had to walk through an intersection to get there. There are some spots up front if you can snag one. Overall, we enjoyed our time here but won't be sprinting back.

The decor is swanky and it makes you feel like you've feel like you're walking through an art museum. It's definitely instagram worthy backdrop. Especially if you go outside. It was July in Alabama so we opted for indoor window seating in the bar area to enjoy the views. There were only two other parties in the restaurant, so we literally had the place to ourselves. The bartender was our server and he was excellent. We attempted to order the oysters (6) as an appetizer, but they were out. We ordered the Pickled Shrimp and Bbq Miso chicken instead. Both were delicious. The shrimp was fresh and cold. The chicken was unique as it had peanuts with the sauce. I had the crispy flounder sandwich with fries and my friend ordered the Panzanella salad with shrimp. The fish was hot and crispy and well seasoned. The fries were delicious, too...thick but not steak cut. I wasn't supposed tot have them, but hey it was Friday eve...that was close enough to the weekend! They required reservations so they should have done a better job of planning. One thing that bothered me is that our reservation was at 5 and online it states happy hour is 4 to 6. When we were seated we were not provided a happy hour menu and the waitress didn't even know about it until we told her it was listed online. Drinks were more than double on the regular menu. I will say their house wine, Kessler is good especially for $7 a glass. Spritzers are great! Brussel sprouts, rolls and yellow beets were great apps. I was disappointed in my Low Country Boil especially for $33. The shrimp had heads on and the Conecuh Sausage was only at the bottom so at first I thought it was missing. The only thing great about it was the seasoning on the corn. My friends said the trout was good as well as the banana pudding. The rooftop is amazing so I will say you must be paying for atmosphere. A nice touch to keep in mind is the fire pit that is available all year round.
