I wanted to love this place SO BAD!! There's an attached arcade!! And the staff was SO NICE and friendly and helpful and I loved the industrial, creative decor. But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!! read more

We sat at the bar. Nice selection of beers. We had the three hander and my wife had a gourmet hot dog called West Virginia. The food was perfectly prepared and surprised us how good. It's been years since I've been to Paramount so I was happy I was able to stop by. My friends and I went for lunch, right when they opened. The place was empty but by the time we left, it was jam packed. But I do appreciate them being able to get people in and out at a good time. The last time I was in Paramount, the place was much smaller, but they have definitely upgraded and it looks really nice. It has plenty of TVs and seating with also a cool bar and I really love the decor throughout the restaurant. We ordered some appetizers which included onion rings, fries, great balls of Fire, and AL hummus. All of the items were served fresh and were very tasty. My fav was the hummus. I also ordered some wings with a cup of chili. Those wings were delightful! They were so tasty that I almost ordered some to go. The chili was pretty tasty as well, but I was so full, so I had to take it to go. We didn't have time to get to the other side and play in the arcade, but definitely next time, we will. read more

I was excited to come to Paramount for lunch recently. I can't even remember the last time I came here but I know that it's been a really long time! We were greeted as soon we entered and seated right near the door. I didn't love the seat but thankfully it's wasn't too cold. It took a little long for our server to come to the table. I even got up to ask the hostess who our server was ... yeah ... that long! It was all good once our server finally came over. She did a good job the remainder of our visit. My mom and I both ordered the work week lunch special. It's just a cheeseburger, side and drink. I believe for $12. We both enjoyed our food. The burger was really fresh and onions rings were so good! Of course , I washed my food down with a draft wicked weed, IPA. This is your typical sports bar but better! There's an arcade!!!! We sat at the bar each time and they hustle back there! The pork tacos are some of the best you'll have. The BLT Bruschetta is probably my favorite appetizer. It is like open faced tomato sandwiches. The Alabama Hummus was a little disappointing but I think my expectations were too high. It tasted like hummus (I know, shocker!) but I thought the boiled peanut taste would be more prominent. The Great Balls of Fire are also a tasty choice. I've not had the burgers but I do see someone get the Paramount burger and that thing is wild! Had lunch with family and picked up the tab. When the bill came I wrote 'Cash on Table' in the tip line, carried the original total down and hand the receipt and a 20%+ cash tip to the waitress. That original charge went on my credit card but when it cleared they fraudulently collected extra. Reached out to them but was ignored. Take a photo of the 'Merchant Copy' since they don't provide you a 'Customer Copy' of the credit card charge. (I took the original receipt) That way when you're overcharged, you have proof and can dispute the transaction. read more

I went to a Christmas celebration with my co workers. While playing basketball, my wedding ring flew off. We looked and looked. IThe manager took my ifo, and said he would call if he found it. Great place in a good part of downtown Birmingham. My family dropped by here on the way to the Alabama Theatre and liked it so much we made a return visit a couple weeks later. Very family friendly. I know some of the previous reviews made it seem like things are coming off the hinges... but they're not... it is absolutely one of the best places near the convention center and downtown to eat! First... whoever said that the wings were the best wings that they've ever had... it's not. But... it is fall off the bone tender... but the wings are tiny. My favorite dish by far are the tacos! Wow! The crunchy pork is amazing in flavor and with the complement of lettuce, corn, cheese, tomatoes... perfection! Second... the burger... especially the El Capitan! The peppers and pico de gallo balance the meat and amazingly soft and chewy bun. The best is the airiness of the patty... it's not overly compacted and dense. The three hander and grilled cheese look amazing... but the. Eat parts of both are the sourdough bread... amazingly buttery and crunchy! We loved the onion ring as a side and they have an amazing assortment of beer on tap and cans. A large bar to sit in and enjoy to your heart's content. They are also kept in great condition, not your typical old vintage style arcade. I like how they stayed open past the diner portion closing. This is a great place to get a good bite and a drink while also watching the game. I had a Moscow Mule and finally tried the Backyard tacos. They lived up to the hype! Fresh and flavorful.
