With nice weather on a weekday evening, we were able to be seated outside despite it seeming very busy. All throughout our time, the staff were very attentive to our needs and basic things like ensuring prompt water refills. For the prices, the portions were adequate and the appetizer were great, especially the fries pickles. I recommended the blackened fish sandwich over the smash burger. The smash burger, though it tasted great, was not exactly a unique offering compared to the other menu items.

What an awesome place! Great service. Very attentive and quick. Food came out in 15-20 Mins. Great ambiance and food was delicious. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich which was tasty with the celery slaw, blue cheese crumbles and ranch. Yum! Everyone at our table raved about their meals. Well done The Battery!

I was looking for a restaurant that served a good grilled cheese sandwich, when I ran across this place. Nice location with onsite parking. Very nice patio seating for friends or groups, with televisions for easy viewing of your favorite sports. This was a midday solo meal and cocktail. I was warmly greeted and seated right away. The restaurant was clean with a fully stocked bar. My order was taken and my drinks were brought out quickly. That's always a nice touch. I ordered the Blood orange margarita, which was really good. My order consisted of the grill cheese sandwich and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts with the goat cheese and pomegranate seeds were DELICIOUS!!! Please order those. The grill cheese was good, but needed a little more cheese for that gooey touch. I would definitely go back.

First time to The Battery... There were 7 of us who went to watch the Super Bowl. Very clean upscale sports bar. Drinks were great and the Brussel sprouts were fabulous... one of my favorites. Made with whipped goat cheese and pomegranates. The burger was absolutely delicious.... Maybe I was just hungry lol. Our waitress was wonderful, I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. Always made sure our drinks were filled. Would I go back? Yes indeed! Everyone in the party was happy with their food and the service.

Went on a date here and had a great experience. We sat at the bar and Kaylee was an amazing bartender--very attentive and gave great menu suggestions. The ambiance was nice, super clean, and I loved the glass windows and heated outdoor patio. The Paloma and Blood Orange Margarita were both excellent (adding pineapple juice was a game changer!). We had the Seared King Salmon and the Brisket Grilled Cheese--both were fresh and delicious. The broccolini was a bit salty, but overall everything was a hit. I'll definitely be back!

This is a great spot. They have a nice patio but the inside is fairly open air as well if you don't want to sit outside. They were really busy bust service was fast and the food came out in an appropriate amount of time. We really enjoyed it food. I had the blackened fish sandwich with the conecuh sausage collard greens. The collards were amazing. Probably some of the best I've ever had. My husband had the smash burger. The thin patty's were nice and crispy. The French fries were kinda meh I'd sub for the collards again. We both agreed that our sandwiches could have used a pinch more salt but they were still really good.

Nice spot to grab a quick lunch. They have a nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. Ordered the smoked wings with broccoli. The broccoli had a nice taste. Wish the wings were cooked a little longer in my opinion

I was greeted, seated and served water immediately by a friendly employee. This spot has a sports bar, casual, laid back vibe with a menu to back that up. Wings, fried pickles, house made pimento cheese and crispy Brussel sprouts are just a few of the yummy looking appetizers. Your choices vary from soups, salads handhelds or a full entree with sides on their menu and there is something for everyone. On this cool November day, and following the advice of several Yelper's reviews, I opted for a cup of Tomato Soup and their Brisket Grill Cheese, $15. It was a home run and the very warm tomato soup was lovely on this cool, autumn day. I enjoyed the addition of crispy fried okra garnish to the soup- very creative! The cheese brisket grilled cheese was also very good and know that the tender brisket has a slightly sweet leaning flavor. A delicious lunch!

Ambience is great inside and outside area. We sat outside and they have TV so you can watch sports games. Service was great, never had to ask refills on drinks as out wait staff was very diligent. Food was really good, just wished the wings were a little more crispy, but the flavor was there. Will definitely be back when visiting in the area. Everyone in our group was happy with their dishes.

The atmosphere was great really enjoyed the vibe. The food itself wasn't overly special. I wasn't disappointed, just not thrilled either. The Parmesan fries were the standout and were actually pretty good. Overall I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5, but since I can't do half stars, I'll round as fairly as I can. I do think there's more on the menu worth trying, and if I come back I'll be sure to update this rating. The host and server were both great, though, friendly, attentive, and definitely a highlight of the visit.

I don't really have any complaints on The Battery. We stopped in for an early Wednesday lunch around 11:30 and were told that there would be a 20 min wait unless we were okay with bar seating. We were fine with that, but it was shocking to hear they had a wait. I believe that is their norm. We started with the mozzarella logs. The in house vodka sauce they serve with it made it delicious. I got the smash burger. It was good. Nothing to brag or complain about.

It was Super Bowl Sunday and I decided to try a new restaurant. There was 7 of us ladies and it was the first time for everyone. I got there early so I could get a table. The host was quick to seat me. I started with a blood orange margarita. It was very tasty. Some of the ladies for old fashions that were smoking when they clacked to the table. I loved the presentation. I also had a glass of moscato. I started with the mozzarella sticks with vodka sauce. I found this to be unique because at other restaurants you get marina sauce. Some of the ladies got pimento cheese and brussels sprouts as appetizers. I ordered the grilled buffalo chicken sandwich. There was blue cheese crumbles on the sandwich which really elevated it to another level. He came with ranch, but I did ask for blue cheese dressing. The Parmesan fries were absolutely delicious. I still can't believe I have never visited this establishment, but I definitely will be back sooner than later. Jessica was our server and she was extremely attentive and friendly.

Went here one afternoon after looking for a new place to stay and it was pretty packed. I went with my mom and our waitress was very nice and attentive. However, we weren't really a fan of the food. We shared the korean bbq wings that were way too salty and the caesar salad was a little on the sweet side. The fries were really good though! My mom also liked her wedge salad. I would still go back though to try other things and because the place had a good vibe.

While none of them have tasted quite as good since then (something about working up an appetite on the beach?), we still really enjoy a rare opportunity to eat at one. I knew we would be ready for lunch after a morning at a local museum, so I had researched possible venues earlier that morning. I showed my wife a short list and she immediately gravitated to Roly Poly. That would have been my first choice too. This one (the last one remaining in Birmingham, apparently) is in the Homewood neighborhood / area. It is located on a busy street with shops and plazas lining both sides. These look like they were built no later than 1950 but have evolved and been renovated as new tenants cycled through. We did angled parking on the street out front, but there may be better / easier parking on surrounding side streets. The only issue we had was backing out into traffic when we left; it took a few minutes for a gap. You enter and order at the counter. They have menus available there for you to check out. They have a rack of chips available, plus maybe other sides? I didn't look beyond the chips. You then sit down and wait for your order. I guess they have call-ahead too. Seating is along the wall to the right as you enter. There is a long bench the length of the wall with separate 4-person tables spaced along it, with 2 additional chairs each. Our order seemed to take a while, but it may have just been what we ordered (hot sandwich) versus other simpler orders getting filled faster. I got the French Twist, which is my favorite. I only got a regular and not a large, but I think I could have finished a large. My wife got something else, chicken-based I think. We both enjoyed this a lot. If I lived in the area, I'd probably stop in here semi-regularly.

MG's has all the qualities of a quaint little hometown eatery with it's "wood" floors and paneling on the walls. Space is a premium inside with only about 8 small tables scattered throughout. On one wall is a self service soda/tea/condiment area. One interesting note was the disposable cutlery. Each one of the plastic forks, knives and spoons were individually packaged. Never seen that before (yes I need to get out more often). The opposite wall is littered with local band posters and ads giving you a nice college bar feel. There's a couple of tables right outside when the weather allows, but you que to place your order, pay, grab your liquid refreshment, have a seat and wait for you name to be called. If you're in the mood you can even stand close to the line and "watch" how they make their famous Nachos! I did. It's basically a layer of Doritos chips on foil with pepper jack cheese on top, then jalapenos and then the final step... the entire ensemble is steamed in the same steamer that warms their sandwiches. This nicely spreads the cheese and softens the Doritos giving the chips a softer but still retaining that nice crunch. The dish is so simple, yet delectable! Vasha ordered a side of their famous Nachos so I got to taste and it was as good as Vasha hyped it to me! He also got one of his favorite go-tos the Turkey Delite. The sliced turkey with mozarella on a honey wheat hoagie looked pretty good. I was in the mood for and ordered their Chicken Salad sandwich. Their own unique homemade chicken salad strays from what I would consider a "traditional" chicken salad, but I admire that they made it their own with chicken cut into cubes instead of shredded. Add American cheese, shredded lettuce, fresh tomatoes in a grilled roll and you got yourself a contender! The side salad I got was a sandwich box half of shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, tomatoes, red onions and croutons was on par. Their menu boasts a few other sandwiches that I would love to try like the Momma's Love (roast beef) and Pastrama Momma. Looking forward to returning soon.
