I finally got to try Moe's BBQ in Hoover! We ate dinner here and watched the 4OJ fireworks so we didn't have to deal with the Hoover Met traffic. It's a fast casual restaurant where you order at the register and they bring out your food. I got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. I chose the lighter version with one side and I loved that they had that option. The pork was tasty and tender and paired perfectly with the soft bun. The mac and cheese was good, but nothing crazy. The red neck nachos were the perfect appetizer to split and they were topped with bbq, queso, jalepenos, and we added the pulled pork. Perfect spot for lunch or dinner! read more

Moe’s Original BBQ - Pulled Pork Sandwich. And Redneck Nachos. - American Near Me - Hoover, Alabama

Tasty BBQ for a great price and homey atmosphere! The menu consists of sandwiches, platters, and a generous selection of sides. I ordered the salad and added pork. It came with a side of cornbread which was slightly sweet and buttery! I also added a side of their chips- which are kettle-crispy and well seasoned. My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich which came with 2 sides. He chose the fries and mac n' cheese. The mac n' cheese was a good pick! The portions are great size, the inside is clean, and all the workers are very nice. read more

This place is a hot mess. Not one person in the restaurant and they have screwed my order up twice: and they don't give a crap about it.

Seven of our family members visited for dinner and enjoyed the meal. Meats are always solid, most sides are good but fries are meh, and service was ok but could be better. Atmosphere is ok but not inviting. Layout makes most of the dining area seem like you're in a bar...because you pretty much are. read more

Great time headed back to Moe's with my children for dinner. The server was nice and she talked kindly as we placed each of our orders. The food was severed quickly and each of us liked our meals. It's a nice place for dodos and good place to hang out with people to chat with. read more

I struggle with Moes. BBQ has good flavor but rarely is my plate warm. The restaurant struggles with cleanliness and I have to try and just not look too close. read more

Finally! Something different from the same American food. I don't eat spicy; there are no options either. My turkey was delicious, and the cornbread was delightful. I am sure I will come again. The ambiance is suitable for a fast-food restaurant. read more

Just not good food. Tried twice and same experience. Just overall lacks flavor. Don't know what else to really say. Service is great though and it's a nice place. read more

Great food consistently! No fat in the pulled pork to have to spit out. Love this place!

Not to be confused with Moe's Southwest, Moe's Original BBQ is an excellent BBQ joint that has the basics and extras to make it noticeable to foodies everywhere. I have enjoyed Moe's Original BBQ in Vestavia for a few years with my go-to entree being their fried catfish! Yom Yom Yom! This Moe's is located in the relatively "new" Brock's Gap shopping strip. It's at the very end of the strip with the OS1 Sports Injury Clinic right next door. This eclectic strip also includes a ballet studio, The Trak Shak, Whole Scoop Ice Cream Shop, Santos Coffee and Tre Luna Bar & Kitchen. This Moe's has a large spacious and inviting outdoor dining area, but probably not used much during this time of year. The interior sports a large brightly lit bar on the left with several large flat screens scattered throughout. Can you say sports game view-in?!? On the right are also ample seating options. If you walk straight ahead, you'll find the TO-GO order and pickup area. Since we were getting take-out, this was where we landed. Sarah ordered their popular pulled pork sandwich with mac n cheese and collard greens. The pork practically melts in your mouth with just the right amount of bbq marinade. Of course Sarah had to add more. She did complain that the mac n cheese was tasteless, but Tammy and I thought it was good. Tammy tried the Chicken salad. The to-go container was packed with fresh chopped romaine lettuce, cabbage, carrots, tomoatoes, cucumbers, red onions, sprinkled with cheese with a side of white BBQ sauce. The breast of white meat was tender and separated with ease. Her salad came with a beautifully buttered toasted cornbread. As I mentioned I normally order their fried catfish, but I was drawn to their "special"... turkey pork jambalaya. I had to try it and I'm glad I did. I didn't care for the bits of turkey but the shredded pork was a nice touch as I'm used to the traditional sausage jambalaya. There was also plenty of onions, celery, and had a nice spicy kick! Yom Yom Yom. My side of collard greens could've used a sprinkle of salt, but was palatable. This is a great location for a Moe's. It will add a bit of home-town touch to these other restaurants around Brock's Gap. I look forward to returning and trying their Redneck Nachos. read more

I haven't dined in, but I want to because there drink menu looks good. We were in the mood for barbecue and we remembered this Moe's opened up close to us. We ordered and picked up our food with no problem. Once we got home, we dived in! Everything was oh so good! We had leftovers and they were good, too. I'd definitely eat here again. read more

Moe's is a large and successful franchise, but it still feels like a down-to-earth hometown BBQ joint. This stems from it's southern roots, and with sides dishes like collards, cornbread, and banana pudding it's a safe bet it started in Alabama. This location has a large outdoor dining area that is great for lunch or dinner. But, I think it will eventually need something to shade customers from the Alabama sun. The outdoor patio allows dogs, and Macey (the golden pup) enjoyed going out on a Friday night. For dinner I ordered the Small Rib Plate with collards and marinated slaw as my two sides. It comes with a piece of yummy cornbread. The ribs were excellent, I assume they were back ribs because they were small bones and they had the cartilage on one end. The ribs had a tasty salty rub, and the Sweet BBQ sauce was a perfect complement to it. The collards were very flavorful, and they were cooked with chopped bacon. The marinated slaw is vinegar based and had a refreshing flavor without being too sour. I had the frozen lemonade cocktail and it was cold and refreshing. My dinner companions enjoyed Puled Pork and Turkey plates, and they enjoyed their choices. They raved about the frozen Bushwacker cocktails. Service was good, and overall a wonderful dining experience. read more

Came back again last night for dinner. We were able to sit outside which was great since it was beautiful out. Outdoor seating is nice. There is even an outdoor bar area. I ordered the pork platter which came with two sides and corn bread. I chose the baked beans and the red beans and rice which was a special side. Everything was great. Pork was delicious. They really give you a lot of it. I had plenty to take home. I had to ask for extra sauce because it wasn't enough for me or the hubs. My only real complaint is that everything could have been hotter. Temperature of everything was slightly warm. Otherwise, it was all good. read more

So glad they got a location close to us, the food is as good as it is all over. The staff were very friendly and checked on us frequently. We did order the bushwhackers as that is our favorite drink from this chain... I will say however since we were the first ones to ask for them at 5pm we had to wait a long while as they had none made. I will say they were not as good as the one in Tuscaloosa...hence the 4 stars and not 5. We will be back to give the bushwhackers one more try, if not good then I will continue to make these at home... read more

Today I was excited to eat at Moe's original bbq because they have some of the best pulled pork sandwiches. When I arrived at the register I met an employee mr. John and i began to order. I felt rushed and like I was an inconvenience being there. I also was asked if I would like the meal or just the sandwich but I was not asked if I wanted a drink or if I wanted one or two sides. I told Mr.John I wanted Mac and cheese for both sides and a dink since he did not ask as well as two white sauces. I don't mind being upsold when the food is good and I am hungry. I also love tipping very well when I have great service. I felt rushed and unimportant on today's visit. I explained this to ms.heather and she did explain how sorry and asked if there was anything she could do. I told her I didn't need no free food but I would hate for them too miss out on money and more reoccurring customers. She was and honestly helped this situation. If it wasn't for ms.heather I would not be coming back here. I would urge you to retrain mr. John to give better service before someone else has the same experience. Thank you read more

This spot was great. The food is delivered to your table after ordering. I actually sat and the bar and the guy who took my order was also the bar tender. He did an excellent job of working the bar and the register. They have a about 7-8 TV's that you can view from every part if the restaurant. They have a-lot of parking. The smoked wings were pretty damn good and i would most definitely go back for them. The collard greens were just ok. They have an open parking lot for them and other spots in the plaza. All the workers were friendly. This was my first time at Moe's Original and i see they have one in my home city. The food my friends and family had looked great also. They ran out if lemonade and it was only 2:00pm. They didn't change it when i pointed it out to one of the workers but i am pretty sure they did it at some point as they were busy. They have outside patio seating thats not covered but a-lot of people enjoyed eating outside. read more

The food is outstanding. I see other reviews that are not so stellar. Personally, my wings were great. But what I really liked was the down-home atmosphere. When I went in from the time we placed our order up until the time we left, every interaction was as though I was eating in some small-town BBQ joint that knows me. I really liked that. I hope everyone has the same experience I had. read more

I didn't realize they had opened a location back in this neighborhood .... really good move! I've been to a few of the other locations and have always liked what they have to offer. This one is totally new on inside and out. They have a great outdoor patio area that would be perfect for those not too hot days. Inside area is large and allows for plenty of social distancing. Large bar area that you walk by to get to the back right area where you actually place your order. All in all I've never had any bad BBQ at a Moe's. They have the typical BBQ sandwiches to choose from as well as BBQ plates that come with one or two meat combos (there might even be a three meat combo - not positive on that though). Sandwiches come with one side and plates come with two. With choices like fries, potato salad, slaw, greens, mac and cheese, etc. I went with the Chicken Plate and had a side of potato salad and the corn bread. Meat comes with the traditional BBQ sauce and the chicken comes with their version of Alabama White. Corn bread is actually really good and has jalapeno in it. If you like BBQ do yourself a favor and stop by and check these guys out, they know how to do it right! read more

I have been to Moe's at other locations, but this was my first time here. I ordered at the drive thru window both times. The service was very friendly. My food was prepared promptly and it was delicious. I tried the ribs with white sauce during one visit and a pork sandwich combo during the second visit. The pork sandwich was prepared "Bama style", which included slaw, pickles, and white sauce. The combo included 2 sides. I chose potato salad and banana pudding. They were both tasty. On this particular day, they were out of mac and cheese. read more

Absolutely delicious! Their pulled pork is very tasty and I don't usually order pork. The last 2 times I've been there that's what I have ordered. The patio seating is a great option. Also their bushwhackers are tasty! For St Paddy's they had them colored green. read more

Stopped by on the way to work to grab diner. New restaurant was clean, staff was friendly. Service was quick. Pulled pork with excellent. Nice smoky flavor with moist meat. When this restaurant moved from Patton Creek to Brock's Gap, I said I'd eat there more often since it was closer to my house and therefore on my radar of places to eat at. Well, I finally made it by there to pick up a to go order. The restaurant is nicely decorated and laid out. The patio area has nice, sturdy furniture and pretty lights and heaters. A patio that I'd enjoy eating a meal there. I ordered the day's special, grilled mahi sandwich (slaw, aoli, pickles), and sides of apple cobbler and mac and cheese, and wings, as I've heard their wings are really good. Well, everything was delicious. Wings were perfect combination of taste and texture (not fried, not dried). Can't wait to try their Thursday special, a thanksgiving sandwich! read more

Solid food. Had large ribs plate with greens and jambalaya. Fair portion of ribs. Would have liked 2 more, but probably for the better to not over eat. Ribs were perfectly cooked, sauce was good. Can't go wrong with this place, just not "wow" kind of bbq like some places. read more

It's good barbq but it's really about the bloody moe and the bushwacker. Their bloody moe has bar b q rub around the rim and is just the right amount of kick. The bushwacker is a spiked chocolate milkshake that you can add another shot on the top (I did salted caramel) read more

Just ate here. Ordered chicken sandwich with cornbread and fries. Sandwich smothered with sauce and peppers. Allergic to peppers. They remade the sandwich plain. Cornbread had onions in it. Allergic to onions. Really need to better inform the customer on ingredients. Food was over salted and not worth the price. Look elsewhere if in area. Wasted my money. read more

Terrible service , order was incorrect three times and the staff was incredibly rude and very unprofessional.

I love bbq ribs and I'm always looking for a good ribs place. If you know of one in the Birmingham area, please let me know! The food was okay but nothing memorable. After eating here, we went to Tre Luna and.... we wished we had gone there instead !!! Tre Luna is in the same plaza as Moe's. read more

I have been to Moe's BBQ so many times, and every time it's just as good as I remember! I usually get their salad with bbq sauce and chicken, but I decided to try to bbq wings with cornbread, mac and cheese, and french fries to have more of a southern cuisine. It was absolutely delicious! The price is a little high, but I think it's worth it for the quality of food. There are no COVID precautions in order, but you do go up and order your food and then it's brought to you if you eat in the restaurant which I did. The staff if always very friendly when ordering. 10/10 recommend and will continue to go back! read more

OK, but small for the price, pulled pork sandwich. It was OK, just OK. Pennsylvania-Dutch style slaw wasn't what you would expect, but Tinteresting. Baked beans from a can with a hefty glob of brown sugar. Don't plan to get comfortable, this place has the most awful bench seating ever. read more

Chase was so friendly & gave us free banana pudding for dessert. My turkey salad was yummy & lots of it with both red & white BBQ sauce.
