Always a good venue. Good drinks, nice people, clean bathrooms. Games, snacks, coffee redbull, pinball. What else could you possibly want? Seriously love this space for shows, hangoing out, photo opportunities, private events, whatever. The theme and aesthetic are amazing.

Tommy Prine and and Partridge! Two of my favorite humans.

Great venue! Sound and lighting were first class. I attended Tommy Prine w/Abe Partridge in support. All of the staff were friendly and efficient.

I literally stumbled into this gem and I must say I'm glad I did. I really felt like a kid again in this place playing all the old video games I use to play. It is a great place to come by yourself and with a group of friends to play board games and grab drinks.

I can definitely say that Saturn Birmingham is one of the greats. The shows and events I've been to have always been memorable. The atmosphere is incredibly eclectic plus an amazing staff. I highly recommend a visit.

Another morning, another local coffee shop. Calling it a coffee shop is a bit unfair because it is so much more. Part arcade, game room, live performance venue and all manner of techno, neo-max zoom dweebie, come hipster kitsch, it's pretty cool. COVID- ok. Sustainability - ok. I do worry about this business a little as it is totally premised on eliminating social distances in a good way.

Definitely one of my favorite spots to go now. A great place to bring your friends, feel a sense of nostalgia, and get a drink.

What a great little coffee shop. Well, actually maybe no so little. Open and creatively themed interior with WiFi, USB ports along the bar, plenty of seating, board games, and some old electronic games (in the hallway toward the back - near bathrooms.) Excellent coffee (Peruvian single origin today). Some dynamite local pastries - sweet. Congenial, knowledgable, and friendly staff.

    Frozen and perfect for summer

A friendly bartender at Up-Down Arcade Bar (another must-visit!) told us about this place, mentioning it's one of the few bars open 24 hours on the weekend. Naturally, curiosity won. From the jump, this place had character. There's a bouncer at the door, a makeshift elevated DJ booth to the right where you have to pay cash for a "membership." Don't worry -- there's an ATM conveniently behind the booth, ready to charge you a nice little convenience fee if you didn't bring cash. The membership lasts a year, but still, that was a first for me. Inside? Small. Crowded. Lively. And at 1 AM, there was a guy passed out in a chair right by the entrance -- with his dog roaming freely around the bar. I honestly couldn't make this up if I tried. The bartenders were solid -- fast, cool, and trying their best to keep up with the rush. There's a selection of local beers (pretty good ones too) and two pool tables... well, technically one, since they only had one cue ball. The pool sticks? Ancient relics. The bathroom? I'll spare you the visuals. Outside was much more breathable. There was a local guy named Walter -- from Georgia, of all places -- selling BBQ. Cool dude. The turkey wing was a little tough, but his attitude made up for it. Now, the real highlights? The people and the atmosphere. You've got folks eavesdropping on your conversations, tossing around racially backed jokes at me (that I politely corrected), a row of chain-smokers out front, and a woman openly asking for cigarettes or change that may have been homeless, but was definitely a crackhead and she so eloquently vocalized. It's a gritty and downright raw type of place, but somehow, it works. There wasn't any live music when we came, but I'm sure that's what makes this place shine more than it already does in its own unique way. I'll definitely be back for a performance night. Bottom line: Five stars because The Nick is exactly what it's supposed to be -- an unfiltered slice of Birmingham nightlife that refuses to apologize for being itself.

Here's why I say all of those glowing things: This room is tall, but small in square feet. There are bookshelves that align the walls. They are covered in books that face backwards, so the pages soak in the sound. It's a noise canceling solution that was just too dang obvious for anyone else to figure out. At times, the ticket prices might be steep, but it's worth it. It means you get to see one of your favorite acts in an intimate venue with people that care. Think about it... you won't have to deal with the drunk dude at the bar talking about who knows what, while your trying to enjoy a show. so good.

Yes we have plenty of places to see rock shows and indie shows but a true listening room where music is front and center and not the whole "hey look at me I'm at this show and you're not" thing we just don't have. I'm rambling because it's hard to convey the excitement I have for this place. It's the type of room that you can go to and the artist doesn't even have to be mic'd up for it to sound amazing. From what I understand a bar area is coming and there are more renovations to be done in the space but really the aesthetics don't matter when it comes to this place. It simply is a place to go and listen to music without distraction. Get there as soon as you can.

Soup changes daily and this day was chickpea and chorizo. Nothing life changing about it but it wasn't bad. We walked into a small, dark, crowded dive bar and ordered amongst several other people after waiting in line shoulder to shoulder with other customers. I say this not to complain (because with a crowd like this on a random weekday, they're obviously doing something right) but to take your kids in car seats (‍) with caution. Crowds in small spaces stress me out and it would have been even worse if we'd had the boys with us. I'd also highly suggest going on a day when you can sit outside. There's very minimal seating inside. They do have a lovely, spacious patio that also feels like a garden with plenty of trees for shade. However, they make it clear they don't want dogs there. Parking was horrific. A narrow street with cars on each side. We barely fit through it. If there wouldn't have been an open spot on it, I'm not sure what the next option is because I didn't see anywhere else and this street only held so many. I would dine here again because the sandwiches were fresh and delicious and they obviously know what they're doing! I was pleasantly surprised that they had prosecco as well. Just heed my few warnings and you'll enjoy as well!
