My hubby surprised me with a date to 88! I love live music. We arrived when the doors opened and the band was still rehearsing. The band came out 30 mins later but did a wonderful job. We loved the service. The assistant manager always does an outstanding job. The wings are amazing and I loved my peach Bellini. I would definitely try this place again!

Stopped in for a drink while it was not busy (and no shows happening) so we got a seat at the bar and great service by the bartender on duty. She even modified a cocktail for my friend who doesn't do sweet drinks. The atmosphere is really nice - cool lighting and seating focused around the stage.

Came from Memphis, TN & was told this was a nice spot to go. YES! If you want to waste $20 cover. Nice looking establishment though.

Bar was nice with 4 large TV's and nice beer and liquor selection. We opted to do the $15 flight. You get 4-1oz pours of select whiskeys. The bowman port barrel was my favorite (smooth and with good taste). The least favorite was knob creek 12 year. Was not near as smooth for a 12 year whiskey (surprised). It will out some hair on your chest! Pretzels were my favorite appetizer. It was hot and salty! Pretzels were served with beer cheese in a cast iron dish (love). The pretzels were soft and buttery. No complaints. I will knock them for this dip trio though. That salsa tasted canned from the store and not a fan of the buffalo chicken dip. Queso dip and tortilla chips were great though! Service was excellent!

After being seated in the bar area, we were informed by our server that only appetizers were available. This was both confusing and disappointing, as it does not align with reasonable expectations for a restaurant still open for regular business. If the kitchen is no longer able or willing to prepare full menu items well before closing, that policy should be clearly communicated--either through adjusted hours or by informing guests upon arrival. Otherwise, it creates the impression of inconsistent operations or a lack of coordination between management and staff. Situations like this suggest a need for clearer operational standards, better communication, and stronger staff alignment with customer service expectations. Guests should not feel discouraged from dining simply because they arrive within what should be standard service hours. Overall, the experience reflects an opportunity for improvement in both management practices and customer hospitality.

I genuinely could have ordered almost anything off the menu; everything sounded delicious. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget or the ability to consume every dish off the menu, so my boyfriend and I settled on splitting 2 small plates and 1 entree. What we ordered: -Smoked Fish Fritters: a Cuban delicacy. Still thinking about how good these were. Plenty to share! -Snapper Ceviche: personally not my thing, but my boyfriend loved this. I honestly wanted to like this, but the raw fish started to weird me out. -Jerk Chicken: served atop a tomato/bbq risotto that was devine. The inside here is so cozy and slightly tropical. They have a huge alcoholic selection too if that's your vibe. I'm so excited to return and try some more dishes!

I ordered the Espresso Martini ($14); it was lacking something in the flavor, but that could possibly be from me going against the grain when ordering. I had the jerk chicken, it was not a true jerk chicken ($29) it was basically grilled chicken with sauce so when expecting something more authentic it was disappointing to say the least. The tamarind caesar ($15) was also different than I expected; although I would make a trip for it, I would order it again when visiting. The best thing I tried was actually the typhoon brusssel sprouts ($12), I was very happy with them and honestly would have been okay if that was the only thing I ordered. The wait staff was great, very personable and being willing to dicuss the menu and give suggestions. Espresso Martini(Vodka-Carajillo) 7/10 flavor is not what accustomed to might have been better with the Rum normally fixed with. Tamarind Caesar- at first glance definitely not my regular Caesar. Definitely not an average Caesar the lettuce is grilled giving it a smoky flavor, caught off guard but I would order again. 8/10 Jerk Chicken- overall was a good dish first time trying farro wasn't sure what to expect made me think of oatmeal, the mango salsa and sauce on the chicken was good the chicken itself was a bit dry but still good. Overall I would give the dish a 7.5 I rarely order chicken out and I think this was a reminder why. Typhoon Brussel Sprouts- had great taste 9/10 I could come back and get a drink with the Brussels. Would consider the Star of the night The price was consistent with the area, nothing seemed overly priced. Portions were also large enough to be split so if with a group and wanting to try multiple items you would be able to do it and have enough.

They also have some half-price appetizers during that time. We were promptly seated, didn't have a weight. This is my first time at this location. I had been to the one in Alabaster and Hoover location, but not this location. Our server's name is Shellee. She said it was her second shift. I never would've known unless she told me she was extremely attentive and friendly. We both started off with the perfect margarita on the rocks. We each had two of them. They were so delicious. I believe she said the bartender's name was Kasey. She definitely did a great job on those drink. We had a pretzel and beer cheese appetizer to start with which was very delicious and was recommended by the server. For dinner, I have the buffalo chicken wrap and my partner had the ribs. We were both happy with our meals. I did visit the bathroom and it was very clean. It definitely is one of the bigger locations I will definitely be back here again

The cowboy still just enhanced things even more. Highly recommend Potato salad: 7/10 not bad at all. My ribeye medium was so good my daughter no longer wants her steaks well done... I almost a shed a tear to this news. Amen.

The Nick is definitely not for everyone -- but it's absolutely an experience you'll never forget…read more After my friend (who was hosting us) passed out, my other friend and I decided to see more of Birmingham's nightlife. A friendly bartender at Up-Down Arcade Bar (another must-visit!) told us about this place, mentioning it's one of the few bars open 24 hours on the weekend. Naturally, curiosity won. From the jump, this place had character. There's a bouncer at the door, a makeshift elevated DJ booth to the right where you have to pay cash for a "membership." Don't worry -- there's an ATM conveniently behind the booth, ready to charge you a nice little convenience fee if you didn't bring cash. The membership lasts a year, but still, that was a first for me. Inside? Small. Crowded. Lively. And at 1 AM, there was a guy passed out in a chair right by the entrance -- with his dog roaming freely around the bar. I honestly couldn't make this up if I tried. The bartenders were solid -- fast, cool, and trying their best to keep up with the rush. There's a selection of local beers (pretty good ones too) and two pool tables... well, technically one, since they only had one cue ball. The pool sticks? Ancient relics. The bathroom? I'll spare you the visuals. Outside was much more breathable. There was a local guy named Walter -- from Georgia, of all places -- selling BBQ. Cool dude. The turkey wing was a little tough, but his attitude made up for it. Now, the real highlights? The people and the atmosphere. You've got folks eavesdropping on your conversations, tossing around racially backed jokes at me (that I politely corrected), a row of chain-smokers out front, and a woman openly asking for cigarettes or change that may have been homeless, but was definitely a crackhead and she so eloquently vocalized. It's a gritty and downright raw type of place, but somehow, it works. There wasn't any live music when we came, but I'm sure that's what makes this place shine more than it already does in its own unique way. I'll definitely be back for a performance night. Bottom line: Five stars because The Nick is exactly what it's supposed to be -- an unfiltered slice of Birmingham nightlife that refuses to apologize for being itself.
