Lucky Daye
Val W.

I have been to this venue on two separate occasions. Most recently, I was here for the 40 under 40 event, where my husband was one of the honorees. I really like how this venue can be transformed into different vibes. Last year, I was here for the Lucky Daye concert and it was a completely different atmosphere. I had a great time on both occasions. Parking can be a little bit of a hassle when it comes to this venue so be prepared to potentially have a bit of a walk. Besides that, I like this venue

Seating

Julian Bond highlighted the event which says a lot. This was a tribute to the late great Bernard Lockhart. Creator of Magic City Smooth. The artist were awesome. The quartet was composed of really talented musicians. Carr performed with his quartet and rocked the stage. The seating in this hall has three levels. It was difficult to get tickets so we ended up on the third level. We were the first on that floor and seating on our ticket were tables 16-20 with 20 the worse table. We should have been able to get a better table but our view was blocked but the speakers. Original ad said 1st come first served. Not the case since we were first. We were told we possibly could be moved but afterwords Multiple Complaints fell on deaf ears. However we had a great time and the food was good.

Writing about the venue and not the acts sometimes is difficult. I am not sure which entity is responsible for the experience. We came to see Samantha Fish. My spouse follows her on social media and loves the blues. The concert started at 8. There was a warm up band as typical. To our disappointment, there was a second warm up band that was more of heavy metal, exceptionally loud and non-enjoyable. Frankly, if we didn't have ear buds, we would have left without seeing Samantha. She didn't come to the stage until 10 pm. she played for about an hour. We were disappointed by the concert.

Concert for Key Glock was amazing! Great ambiance and drinks were on point with the server!

This is such a great venue!! Went to saw electric Avenue on a Saturday night. I highly recommend getting a table upstairs instead of being in the crowd. There is also a bartender located upstairs which is convenient. The band played the beat of the 80s. I hope they come back soon. I already have tickets to see rumours the fleetwood mac cover band in December

Service was great. Food was fresh. I recommend the half chicken if you want something filling and priced fairly. Appetizers were really good. But overall most items had pork in them so if you're a vegetarian or Muslim your options are limited. Atmosphere and service is what brings this place up. Some of my friends complained about portion size not matching the hefty price. I was able to find parking. Our waitress was energetic and kind. Love the overall vibe and feel of the place. Liked the hotel and lobby.

This was my first time seeing a concert in Birmingham and Iron City is the perfect venue for these smaller, general admission shows. Pretty easy to find and a good amount of parking in surrounding lots, despite it being a relatively small building. Even though it was standing room only, I noticed that it was small enough still to where you could probably get a good view just about wherever you are in the crowd. If there's another band or artist that I absolutely love performing here, I would probably make another trip from Nashville just come down and see them here.

Iron City is open at limited capacity, with general admission seating. Yes, chairs everywhere. The usual, sunken standing room only area is now filled with chairs. Upstairs in VIP, there were tables and chairs. I do not recall seeing anyone in a mask. Bathrooms were clean, and getting a drink was easy. My friend was drinking and kept saying, these drinks are strong! There's a gated smoking area to the left of the stage. The restaurant and extra bathrooms are off to the right. Todd Snider is a talented and entertaining musician and storyteller. Every song had a story. He talked and we laughed. He talked and we felt the loss of friends, family, and normalcy. He honored lives lost in 2020, including John Prine and his beloved dog. Show started around 9. He played 2 sets and finished around 10:30.

As a music venue, this place is great. Super fast bar, great acoustics, and plenty of room- but still an intimate show. The grill is super nice. I'm regularly there for Beer & Hymns and lunches/dinners, and I've never had a bad experience. The burger is really good!

Great venue! Would definitely see other shows here. Was a busy crowd but nothing unexpected. Saw Orville Peck!

Wow, wow, wow! This place is a gem for sure! We are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary today, and wanted to go somewhere different. After checking the options here on Yelp, we settled on Iron City Birmingham. We parked on the 22nd Street side, and mistakenly tried to go in the doors for the concert area. The young lady pointed us around the corner to the restaurant entrance on the 6th Avenue side. Kris, our waitress, was extremely friendly. We had questions, she had answers. She shared what she liked the most from the menu, and we went with her recommendations. We came in hungry, so we started with the Fried Green Tomatoes topped with pimento cheese and pork belly. I am not a fried green tomato lover (in fact, I don't do tomatoes), but that appetizer was delicious. Crunchy, creamy, just wow. My husband went with the Iron Pork Tacos and I went with the Prime Rib Sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both of the meals looked tantalizing. I actually took a bite of his cup of street corn, and it was delicious. My husband loved his tacos and said he didn't need any of the Texas Pete hot sauce that Kris brought out. I thought my sandwich was incredible - moist and tender - and the sweet potato fries were perfectly crunchy, not oily at all. Kris came back with the dessert menu. We were both full, but got two slices of the gluten free White Russian Ice Cream cake to go. I am looking forward to diving into that for real. We even gave Kris inspiration when we shared our thoughts behind staying together for as long as we have. Thank you SO much, Iron City, for giving us a GREAT anniversary dinner! We will be back!

Please confirm my instincts. I have been twice and no matter where you are, it is an awesome viewpoint to see a band. (I am about to buy Todd Snider tickets)?

Iron City is a nice venue. I would advise you to wear COMFORTABLE shoes because seating is very limited.

It's a fine dining restaurant with nice seafood options. Valet parking was available, which I love. The restaurant has low lighting and a quiet, yet engaging atmosphere. Our waiter was phenomenal! It was perfect on its own The bread he brought out was good--very airy. I had to try the Caviar slider. It was the perfect blend of salty and crunchy. I tried the onion rings and they were delicious. We enjoyed our Lapeer experience at the bar. Michael, the bartender was fantastic!! He took care of us from start to finish. For starters , I had a few oysters ($2.50) and I really enjoyed the taste as well as the presentation. The sesame complimentary bread service was absolutely amazing! I planned to try the caviar slider but didn't. I definitely will the next time. The steaks here are some of the best ever!! They messed up my order originally but quickly made the correction. I really enjoyed my prime hanger steak & my friend enjoyed her prime skirt steak. The temperature of our steaks were spot on. We ordered for our sides asparagus, mashed potatoes w/t gravy and onion rings. The onions rings were the stand out of the three. The asparagus were delicious also. I didn't care for the mashed potatoes much. Skip those! The red wines I had complemented my meal nicely! The staff and the overall vibe here is top tier. I love the space and location of Lapeer. Enjoy the complimentary valet parking here. This is a great addition to the robust food scene in Birmingham, Al! You definitely wanna add this one to your list , for any occasion!

2:30pm on a Saturday and it was not busy at all. Walked in and it looked nice, nothing super fancy…read morebut nice. I sat down and maybe the wobbly table should have been my first red flag. The chairs sucked to add to it. I find the bathroom, whoever thought it was such a good idea to put a faucet that high was special because you have to turn the water low enough or push the faucet to the side to prevent from it splashing all over you. My in-laws got there a few mins before us and got everyone waters which that was good. The waitress, it took her forever to come back by to ask for drinks or starters. Granted we were waiting for a few other people but my husband wanted a soda and we were going to go ahead and get an appetizer. I decide to stick with my water because I just felt like I would get a drink if I asked for something different. Which I was right. My husband had to wave the waitress down for his soda. She accidentally brought him diet. She never brought back his drink. I had to get up and ask the hostess about our his drink and that we were wanting to order an appetizer. The hostess apologized and said they were really busy. I know I had to fix my face because I looked around, saw our table, and two other tables, about 6 people at the bar that the bartender handled, and looked back at the hostess like, "wtf?" The rest of our group shows up. Waitress comes back. Still no drink for my husband and gets our appetizer orders along with the remaining drink orders. When the appetizers comes out, it was a guy who brought it to us and we asked him about the soda and he apologizes and gets it for us...finally. Nothing special about the appetizer just chips and dip. We finish it and once again...the waiting game. The rest of our group still had yet to get their drinks. She comes back after another long wait, drink less, and gets our orders. My father in-law mentions the drinks, she apologies, and gets them. The wait it took for our food to come was ridiculous. I hate to imagine how long we would have had to wait if it was actually busy. Maybe it might have been worth my wild if the food was phenomenal but the moment it was sat in front...I knew it was not gonna be good. I got the Alfredo with shrimp. It looked like some soup. The sauce to noodle ratio was not good. The sauce was so runny that I had to lean it and eat the noodle like Naruto eating ramen. 5 measly pieces of shrimp. The sauce was also very gritty. How something that is so runny also be gritty, I don't know but I've had lean cuisine frozen alfredo dinners better than this $29 plate. 3 of us ordered Alfredo, only one got a piece of bread but I'm not asking for bread because I don't want to wait 30 mins to get it. My son looked at me and legit said, "we should have just gone to Olive Garden" knowing good and well I don't care for Olive Garden but also knowing it would have been better than whatever this plate in front of me was called. When walking to my car, I looked at everyone and said, "I'm sorry but this place sucked. I've been curious about it and now that I've experienced it...there is nothing here that would bring me back." So I suggest spend your money elsewhere because there is nothing that makes this place standout enough to have the audacity to have nonexistent service and charge $29 for soupy Alfredo

This place is an ideal spot for medium to large'ish gatherings (50-150 peeps?) and a perfect setting for any special occasion. There is no elevator unfortunately, but the bathrooms are handicap friendly and there is a separate back entrance for vendors. Parking is a bit limited to alleyways and street parking, but as the area finishes their renovations, I wouldn't be surprised if a parking garage would eventually make its way here. The fun in a raw space is seeing how much it changes for whatever the theme merits. There is a dedicated team here that works to make that vision come true and they're a professional and friendly bunch. I think their operation is stellar from top to bottom that perspective folks should really consider this gem of a venue.

There are two floors, and our event was on the upstairs. Not sure if the lights are part of their everyday decor or if they were for Christmas, but it's absolutely stunning! I could see this being a great venue for a rehearsal dinner, work/birthday party, or a small wedding/prom venue (My graduating class of 7 would have had enough room!) My only question is how do I get invited back to this place?! I don't plan events, but this is a place I definitely want to come back to! My wife determined that the local botanical garden opened by 7 a.m. (!) and was also free, so we opted to stop here before the museum opened later at 10 a.m. We made it here by around 7:30 a.m. A word of caution - the highway interchange nearby was nightmarish. We missed 2 turns (even with a navigation app running). I don't think it was just me. So be careful and add a few extra minutes to get lost. Once finally off they highway and through the final roundabout, we proceeded along a road bordering the gardens. On the other side appeared to be an expensive hotel and an upscale shopping / dining plaza. The garden was having some sort of plant sale, and crowds were apparently expected. They had traffic control cones in place, but we arrived early enough so that parking was still plentiful. When we left, it seemed like the lot had mostly filled up. The gardens are quite large. They are divided up into sub-areas and there is a large map posted about 100 yards inside the main gate. No paper maps were on offer, so I guess you can take a photo of theirs and use that. We first strolled to the Japanese Garden. We had this to ourselves until almost when we left. This area is quite large by itself. They have koi ponds, a tea house, etc. It was nice. We took an alternate path back to the map pavilion. From there, we explored other areas (mostly dedicated to specific flowers). Some of the terrain is hilly. We routed through the vegetable garden and eventually ended up back at the central formal rose garden. This was being watered periodically that morning and some of the brick paths in it were flooded. They seemed to have some satellite restrooms in remote areas, in addition to the main set near the gate. We spent almost 2 hours here and probably could have spent even more time, but we wanted to drive to our prime stop. If you have any interest in botanical gardens, this is a very worthwhile stop.

You can easily spend hours exploring the many trails that wind through beautiful flowers and plants, the serene Japanese Gardens, and even an active beehive community--which was my favorite part! We were on a bit of a time limit and didn't get to walk the entire property, but we still managed to spend about two hours covering roughly three miles, and it never felt rushed. While it's still a little early in spring for everything to be in full bloom, there were still plenty of gorgeous floral displays to enjoy. Some of the trail directions can be a bit confusing at times, and we did end up wandering off course once or twice. That said, it was never difficult to find our way back to the main trail and continue exploring. If you're looking for a place to meander, slow down, and truly enjoy nature, this is absolutely the place to do it. A peaceful and rewarding experience overall.

A band from Austin, TX and beautiful altars set up to commemorate the dead lost loved ones in true fashion of the holiday. Fires burning in chimineas, colorful lights, friendly people, murals, activities, face painting, beers to drink, food trucks serving. If I didn't know better I would have thought I was in Austin! Weird! The Dia de los Muertos altars are all beautiful too. Each person who passed away represented a universe contained within the beings that they were.. the altars had items that they had enjoyed in life, photos, paintings, letters, favorite coffee cups from which they drank only to mention a few. The vigillette candles are glowing and lighting up the way that was each life which was lost. I just popped into town and did not have the chance to set up an altar, but I did light my own candle and set it in a special place to commemorate those who I have lost. The red glowing sparks from the open bonfires there went into the night sky and burned out into infinity much like the lives that were being commemorated. So long momma. You are remembered and loved.
