I decided to come here on a Friday afternoon before six to finally catch a happy hour here. They have happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM. They also have some half-price appetizers during that time. We were promptly seated, didn't have a weight. This is my first time at this location. I had been to the one in Alabaster and Hoover location, but not this location. Our server's name is Shellee. She said it was her second shift. I never would've known unless she told me she was extremely attentive and friendly. We both started off with the perfect margarita on the rocks. We each had two of them. They were so delicious. I believe she said the bartender's name was Kasey. She definitely did a great job on those drink. We had a pretzel and beer cheese appetizer to start with which was very delicious and was recommended by the server. For dinner, I have the buffalo chicken wrap and my partner had the ribs. This place matches the review. Excellent customer service, good food and nice atmosphere. Place can be for game day or fine dining. My youngest and I ordered the following: Southwest egg rolls: 8/10 very good 6oz sirloin: 8/10 very good Rickhouse Ribeye (cowboy style): 10/10 very good quality steak and flavor. The cowboy still just enhanced things even more. Highly recommend Potato salad: 7/10 not bad at all. My ribeye medium was so good my daughter no longer wants her steaks well done... We were in the area and decided to stop here for dinner. I was not prepared for the amount of TVs they had to watch the games that were on - it was a pleasant surprise. The wait staff were very nice and attentive. We got our food pretty quickly. The kids loved the dip trio appetizer - well, we all did, but especially the kids, though they did avoid the buffalo one, so the parents got that one to ourselves! I got the country fried pork chops. I'm not sure what kind of rub or flavoring they put on it, but it was delicious. The gravy was good too. This was a great place, and i really hope they open one up in Trussville soon as I think it'd be a staple and would be very popular. read more

First off this is a sports bar! If you're into sports bars then this place is a good one! The food is much better than the usual pub grub. Large extensive menu and drink selections! Lots of tv's and noise. The bar service was great. We each had one drink at the bar. We were a party of four trying this restaurant for the first time. The wait time was reasonable about 10 minutes. It was not over crowded at all and seats were available in the bar area. The food was good and we all enjoyed what we ordered. My wife had the strawberry chicken salad, our friends had a burger and a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I had the bourbon glazed pork chops. We enjoyed our meal. The only downside was the lack of service and attention from our server. The restaurant area was only about 2/3 full while we ate. So, if you are into sports bars give this place a try! read more

Food was nothing to brag about, AND, the service was really the worst I had ever received in quite a while at any type of restaurant, especially those like this one which should have been a higher-end type Restaurant. My wife and I tried all three locations here in the Hoover, Highway 280 and the Alabaster area and they all are really really bad on service. It's always nice to receive great food, but exceptional service makes the experience even better. Jamari C. was our server. She's wonderful. I picked up an online order for a 10 oz sirloin.... I have never been served a piece of meat like this. Its like some sort of off-cut. I was like a 4 inch thick glob. It was to be cooked medium- it was nearly raw... but I couldve put it in the microwave and cooked it more- thats not the issue. I cannot believe a cook allowed this to leave the kitchen. It is inedible- chewy and stringy. Totally unnacceptable. You cant get a manager to answer the phone and their website wont allow feedback due to "server error". I think the food is actually pretty good, on par with Walk-Ons for the most part. But that's where the similarities end. Service was really bad and each of our orders came out at different times. Our kids meals came out about 15 minutes late when the adults were about finished with their meals. Server didn't seem sorry at all or even offer to comp the $5.99 kids meal. The guy who brought out the kids meals had no time to even answer why they were so late. We'll be happy to keep going to Walk-On's instead where we get treated better and have as quality food with more TVs and sports bar feel. Good luck read more

Stopped by to catch up with a few people that were already there. I did not order anything, but I can say everything was clean, service was top notch, food looked fresh/tasty and everyone cleaned their plates. The group I met with will send a plate back quickly (which they didn't send one back here). Big Whiskey isn't their typical vibe, but they said they will be returning. Service was great. Besides the fist fight that broke out in the kitchen amongst the staff. Food is gross and everything was dirty. We had dirty appetizer plates, there was stuff all over the ketchup bottle, and the restaurant was in need of a general wipe down. The outside area is what appealed to our family, however there were no bags for the corn hole toss or accessories for the other patio games. There were no directions or signage as to how to get said items to participate in the games. It reminded us of a dark and dingy "Ruby Tuesdays", you'd probably have less greaser food and much better cheese fries (the cheese fries reminded me of something my roommates would make in college, stale fries with hardly melted shredded cheese on top) from Taco Bell across the street. Big Whiskey is such a disappointment. The beautiful building gave us high expectations but the last two times I've been the food was not good! We like to sit at the outside part of the bar but the female bartender is terrible. So rude. She walks away before you finish speaking to her. We had to ask her to wipe off the bar and when my husband asked for menus she pointed to where they were. I was paying last night and I tipped 15%. I always tip at least 25%. I spent 15 years in the business. My first time there I had the Cajun pasta which I could not eat because of the spice. I like spice. The second time nachos which were terrible. We took our son and his girlfriend and they didn't like what they ordered. The restaurants are limited on 280. We were so excited to get a new one. What a huge disappointment! read more

The hours on the door are incorrect and need to be fixed. It's a sunday night and they say online open until 12am and on the door open until 11 pm. The doors are locked and it's 9:45pm. My friends and I went to the new Big Whiskey in Birmingham. Our server was Ree. She was super-- my friends have a joke that we always tell our server that we are old and needy but we tip good. She went over and beyond. She keep our drinks filled and got all the extra things we need to keep us happy. She is a great addition to your staff and we will ask for her again. Also the food was wonderful because we have eaten at the one in Hoover. We will be back!!! read more
