First time experience at BW for me and was looking forward to dinner with a longtime friend. The…read morewaiter was so nice and very attentive. The food was average (wings and fries) it was around 5:30/6:00 on a Thursday so the restaurant was pretty empty. After our meal, we sat there and chatted for 20 minutes (maybe) when our sweet waiter asked that we should basically take our conversation elsewhere. I could tell he was very uncomfortable asking us to leave but I was MORTIFIED. If there was a crowd waiting to be seated - ok fine, but there was not. If we were loud - ok fine, but we were not. We are two older ladies catching up on life. I don't care if the food was wrapped in gold and danced around the table...I will not be going back. Our waiter was told to ask us to leave by management (convinced of it)

After being seated in the bar area, we were informed by our server that only appetizers were available. This was both confusing and disappointing, as it does not align with reasonable expectations for a restaurant still open for regular business. If the kitchen is no longer able or willing to prepare full menu items well before closing, that policy should be clearly communicated--either through adjusted hours or by informing guests upon arrival. Otherwise, it creates the impression of inconsistent operations or a lack of coordination between management and staff. Situations like this suggest a need for clearer operational standards, better communication, and stronger staff alignment with customer service expectations. Guests should not feel discouraged from dining simply because they arrive within what should be standard service hours. Overall, the experience reflects an opportunity for improvement in both management practices and customer hospitality.

I'm a bit torn because I felt this place was great but my fellow revelers (aka my husband and…read moreinlaws) felt the service was off. For my part, I thought the cocktail I had was fantastic. My husband and FIL liked theirs too. My MIL felt there was barely any alcohol in hers but I cannot confirm. We did have a hiccup with the bill being completely wrong (and we were overcharged twice) but it was all settled. There were not very many people at the bar for a Friday night. But perhaps it's a more late(r) night place. We are all geriatric in our party (sort of). I didn't mind and it seemed to be picking up when we were leaving. Overall decent, but maybe I miss Pale Eddie's just a bit.

I ordered the featured Old Fashioned for the evening along with a WhistlePig flight, both were excellent. The Old Fashioned was smooth, balanced, and exactly what a bourbon lover hopes for. One thing I really appreciate about Sloan's is that they host tastings almost weekly (or very often), and they're great about posting details on their social media so you always know what's coming up. It makes the experience feel curated and intentional. The service is always amazing; knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly passionate about bourbon. And the atmosphere? Grown and sophisticated. It's the perfect spot for a date night, a business meet-up, or just a refined night out if you appreciate a good pour. If you love bourbon and want a polished, elevated experience in Birmingham, Sloan's is the place

Here's a polished Yelp review you could post:…read more I had a great experience at 23 Court Cigar Bar. The atmosphere was fantastic--comfortable, welcoming, and a great place to relax and unwind. The drinks were amazing and clearly crafted with care. Whether you're stopping in for a cigar, a cocktail, or just looking for a great place to spend an evening, I would highly recommend giving this place a try. I'll definitely be back! If you'd like, I can also make it sound a little more casual, sophisticated, or cigar-enthusiast-focused.

They are expertly crafted, full of flavor, and easily some of the best I've had in the area. The atmosphere is what really makes this place special. It's comfortable, relaxing, and has the perfect vibe for sitting back, having a conversation, and letting the stress of the day fade away. Whether you're meeting friends or just looking for a quiet place to enjoy a drink, it strikes a great balance between upscale and welcoming. They also have a nice wine selection, which is a great option for non-cigar smokers. While it can get a little smoky at times, as you'd expect from a cigar bar, the ventilation system does a great job of keeping the space comfortable. You don't have to be a cigar enthusiast to enjoy 23 Court. Come for the drinks, stay for the atmosphere, and leave feeling relaxed. I'll definitely be back for another smoked Old Fashioned.
