Just go! Get an infusion! It's loud and smoky most nights after 8:00 so go earlier or sit on the patio if that's not your vibe. The drinks are great but sweet, order accordingly if you don't like a sweet old fashioned. The staff has almost completely turned over since the fall but the quality has remained! Never have I ever loved a place so much. The dirty infused martini slaps after a hard day. The cucumber Collins is great for a good day. read more

When I'm back home this is my favorite spot to go to. It has all the elements of what you would want in a speakeasy/elevated vibe but also a dive bar. They allow you to be yourself, but also serve multiple options of infusion cocktails. It is honestly the best Bloody Mary you will ever have in your life. If you're feeling on the wild side, I suggest the strawberry jalapeño tequila. The people that work there have always been not only kind but quick. I've made friend with many a bartender there over the years that has made sure to not only serve me the drink I want but what I need depending on the week I've had. Wow! What a cool spot! Lots of housemade infusions and cocktails. They also had an INSANE whiskey/bourbon selection, but be prepared to shell out the $$$$$ as it seemed more intent on preserving them than serving them. Service was great, music played were awesome but the only real drawback is seemingly this place is grandfathered in to allow smoking as there were at least two patrons smoking at the bar. That was quite the turnoff but we still plan on returning in future visits! read more

Catch 22, the choice is yours. I recently spent a weekend in Tuscaloosa for a football game and we were looking for somewhere to have a couple of craft cocktails before we went to dinner. Its a very unprepossessing place, welcoming however not very big. Belly up to the bar and talk to Hunter or Sara, they are two of the friendliest bartenders I have encountered in a while. I ordered a Buffalo Trace based old fashioned, as thats my go to, and it was delicious. Not too sweet and still possessing the bite one would expect. Now one thing to note, its an infusion bar, which I had never really had experience with. They have Buffalo Trace infused with berries or peaches. 1800 tequila with jalepenos or a couple of other options. Vodka of some kind with all the fixings for a bloody mary already infused, simply add tomato juice and you're good to go. This being a full bar, they have all the nice small batch bourbons, a good vodka selection, and even Pappy Van Winkle if you feel like splurging yourself. My only real complaint is it gets smoky in there and they could use a vent to release it, otherwise its a great place in the heart of downtown's dining options that will always provide a great cocktail, and the friendliest bartenders in all of Alabama! Fabulous drinks that we enjoyed outside... inside wouldn't be a 5 star review due to the horrible smell of cigarettes.

I discovered Catch 22 while attending UA. I absolutely fell in love with this bar and love to visit whenever I'm in Tuscaloosa. They infuse their own liquors with various fruits, spices and even vegetables.My favorites are the tropical fruit vodka and their bloody mary vodka (complete with onions, celery, peppers, limes and more). My boyfriend really enjoyed the bourbon infused with peaches during our last visit. This is a really small and narrow bar, but they do have some outside seating. Definitely check this place out if you are looking for something other than your run-of-the-mill college town bar. read more

My first time in Tuscaloosa and this place did not disappoint! Really cool drink menu and the servers were 10/10!

What a great concept! Custom flavored spirits. The most unusual is the Bloody Mary Vodka but our fave was the Bourbon Cherry! A close second was the Strawberry, Pineapple, and Jalapeno Tequila which makes a great margarita. Service was fantastic on our first visit but we were the only ones in the bar initially. Later, after dark, the place was lively so we had to go to the bar for service but were served quickly. FYI, as a bar with no food, smoking is allowed inside. read more

Catch 22 is my new favorite place to have drinks in Tuscaloosa! If you go, you have to try one (or two, or three) of their infused drinks. They have a ton of infused vodka flavors as well as infused tequila and infused bourbon flavors. For my first cocktail, I had an old fashioned with peach infused bourbon. So delicious! For my second cocktail, i wanted to try the cherry infused bourbon. Hunter was working behind the bar and made an amazing concoction for me. It's not on the menu and I can't remember what exactly was all in it, but it was awesome! I'm also excited to come back one morning and try one of their infused bloody marys. Love the cocktails. Hate the smoking. Their cherry bourbon is divine and the service is usually decent, but unless you plan on burning your clothing three feet under your backyard, I don't recommend it. There are way too many other good bars with an all around great atmosphere to suffer through the second hand smoke there. read more

Absolutely have LOVED the bar in the past. We came on a Monday, there were about 10 of us total in the bar. There was only 1 bartender, and she was extremely rude the whole time we were there (about 2 hours). Was extremely thrown off, as the other bartenders here are usually very nice. Unsure if I'll return after tonight due to the rudeness we encountered. Super disappointed, as this WAS my favorite bar in TTown. read more

Located next to FIve, it's almost unnoticeable unless if you are intentionally looking for it. The bar tenders are very nice and helpful. The drinks are good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing and each table has a candle to make it feel more romantic. The only down side is that it doesn't feel so clean. It's a great place to relax with friends and not have music be blasting in your ears. I would come back here again because even the thought of it was relaxing. I really love this place. *sigh* 1.) more locals 25+ frequent this spot so rarely the frat drunken spot that is the usual in this town. 2.) the decor is dive meets trendy, perfect hipster scene. 3.) the bartenders make it their job to remember you and make your experience memorable, whether it's an on the house round or music selection or remembering your name. They are my fave bartenders. 4.) these are not in order but I of course love the drinks. The vodka infusions are so perfectly mixed you could drink any of them on the rocks (is that the point of an infusion?) my favorites are the bloody Mary mix, the pineapple & the blueberry (not all together of course.) This is my favorite place to get drinks in Tuscaloosa, it's small and cozy inside, so it's easy to talk with friends. The staff is always so nice and great to talk to! My absolute favorite bar in town. The infusions are great, the atmosphere is great, and the service is great. I come here at least once a month, if not more. The drinks are pricey, but you're getting more than the standard legal drink size with each drink. The infusions are so good you can drink them on the rocks.
