Who knew cafeteria style food could be this good. Good home cooked food served big family style(sounds better than cafeteria). Pulled pork, moist and great sauce. Nice thick layer of more cheese baked into the Mac&Cheese. Both Hush Puppies and the corn bread are nice and sweet. they don't need any butter. Cinnamon apples would make any cobbler or pie proud. Banana Cream Pie, I can't resist it. This was nice creamy, not too sweet, lots of banana in it. Probably a good thing. It is not an all you can eat buffet. I would have tried everything. Good solid cooking. Love finding the local gems.

    The view across the street.

I travel to Hoover for work and am away from home a lot. I recently found this diner. It truly is amazing southern food. The staff is amazing, polite and courteous. It is truly a hidden gem in Hoover. It is well worth the adventure out to the Bluff and the view is amazing. You might even find Bigfoot. I highly recommend a visit to the diner.

Country Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans & Cornbread

When I arrived right at Noon. No wait to make selections in the cafeteria style line and plenty of available seating. I went with the recommended Country Fried Steak and pretty standard Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans with a Cornbread Muffin. When I got to the checkout after being disappointed with no Banana Pudding being available (apparently due to no bananas), I realized that they had not given me the requested Green Beans. So I had to wait briefly while they brought me a bowl of them. Everything was good, but nothing special. Menu appears to be basically unchanged from the posted 2 years ago other than the prices. I will give them another chance. If only to try the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo from the Tuesday & Friday Daily Specials.

The food was meh and somewhat bland. They did some remodeling and it looks better than in the past. Customer service was prompt but curt.

Always a staple in Bluff Park. I always love a meat and three. Makes me think of home cooking.

Always reliable for a great meal. Can never go wrong with any of the veggies and the rotating entree meats are exceptional.

Home style comfort food. Better and more fresh than the iconic Niki's West. Off the beaten path, but well worth the time spent finding it.

It was about 30 minutes away from my house so I was indecisive if if I wanted to drive that far for food. This place is located in like a mini mall there weren't many cars out in the parking lot and they really weren't that many people inside. But you could tell there's regulars there because when we walked in they were like we don't recognize them lol It is not table service you order at the cash register what we used to call it. They do not have Coke products. They only have Pepsi so I ended up just getting a water. My son got a sweet tea that he liked. He started off with a beer, cheese dip, and that came with pita bread and chips. The server threw some toast and that was really good too. I ordered a cup of the French onion soup and it was delicious. I also ordered the Quattro (Four) cheese flatbread. My son ended up getting the spark burger with mac & cheese. He was dazzled by the burger, but not so much the mac & cheese. I ordered a water. He ordered a sweet tea. I had to ask for a refill for him and I never got a refill for my water. They really weren't a lot of people there so it wouldn't be hard to refill drinks. There is a bar there with a bartender it might be better to sit there so you can get more attention It was definitely a 70s 80s theme in there. In the bathroom, they had a cassette box with real cassettes in there. I really did like the decor. And they do have several TVs in there to watch sports. I'm not sure if I'll be back or not

I got a marg ($8) and the baked pimento cheese dip to start - served with pita. ($7) I loved my pan seared scallops with grits and broccolini. The cranberry bacon "jam" really adds so much flavor and create the perfect bite when you add all components together. ($34) Dad and David got the meatloaf and loved. It comes with house made BBQ, potatoes and broccolini. ($28) Perfect for when you want to go to an upscale meal but still have to make your man happy - this is literally a "meat and potatoes" dish. Mom got the Paneed chicken with brown butter sauce, mashed potatoes and spinach. She had no complaints! ($28) Service was very friendly and parking was no issue at all! This is a perfect place for a big group because there's something for everyone. It's casual, comfortable but still feels on the upscale side of things. We will be back!

The food was absolutely phenomenal, we had gotten the oysters and biscuits and gravy as our appetizers. We had the benedict and the brunchtada as our main entrees and my favorite was definitely the brunchtada! Had the right amount of spice and the flavor was all there. I think the only downside for me may have been the gravy for the biscuits, a little more on the sweet end for my taste.

My friends also said the Expresso Martini was way too strong. The staff was amazing and accommodating. The problem we had is that we had a group of 12 on Saturday at 10:30 for brunch. We called on Thursday for reservations which they don't take. They did tell us to have 2 or 2 people come in at 10:00 and they'd work to seat us. They knew we were coming and had a phone number if there was a problem. I received no call. We were provided a table for 8 at 10:30 with 2 two seater tables. This was not ok. The manager did work with us to scoot empty table to our large table so we could all sit together. Water was promptly provided and drink orders taken. Then food orders taken. Food came out before drinks. I know it's hard when there's a large group but I felt it should have been staffed appropriately knowing we were coming. Our group had a good time because we weren't rushed and we got to visit. For people that need to know, there's no handicap parking at all and we needed a spot. Parking is quite challenging so prepare for that.

I am in a women's group that plans various brunch's lunches and dinners in the BIRMINGHAM area. One of the ladies made a reservation weeks ago so they knew that we were going to be at least a party of 12 to 14. It turned out to be about 12 when they got the tables together. There was just one full table of about eight people and then two other tables which weren't close to us so they ended up putting an extra table in so we could all sit together. Since it was a Saturday morning, it was pretty busy. Parking is a bit cumbersome. I pretty much had to make my own spot so that was a bit frustrating. I don't think I saw any handicap spots. I arrive there about 1015. We had to wait 15 minutes to get our table which wasn't too bad. When they came around to take our orders, we gave them our drink order and our food order. Several of us got some alcoholic beverages. I was a bit surprised that we didn't get our drinks until after we got our meals. I chose to get the vanilla French toast which came with spiced peaches, but I did not want that. I wanted strawberries which they told me they were out of. My friend next to me got a breakfast board and lo and behold. She had strawberries on there so I asked again for strawberries and the young man said they didn't have any and then I pointed to her board eventually I got strawberries and was charged five dollars for them, which I wasn't told before hand. I did get the espresso martini, which mostly tasted like vodka. It was very strong and not very tasty. Also, the glass was very small. It looked like they only had two bartenders if that you could definitely tell they were behind. All in all my experience, there was not very good. I don't think I will be back. I had a brunch plan there next month that I decided to change to a different location. Rachael was our server and she did you the best she could. She had no control over the drinks. I also asked for extra napkins, which I did not receive. It seemed like it wasn't very well staffed for a Saturday rush.

I was very surprised to learn that they sell soda by the bottle and about a 16 ounce soda is three dollars apiece which I found to be a little overpriced. We were there during happy hour, and we got spinach, dip, and Parmesan fries with garlic aïoli, which was delicious. They used to charge for the bread, but we got two servings and didn't have to pay for the second one. Our server, Tyler W was very attentive. Our drinks stayed full and he did recommend some dishes. I got the chicken Parmesan and it was delicious. A very good serving and I brought some of it home. I got the brookie as a dessert and that was equally delicious. Happy hour is from 4 PM to 5:30 pm during the week. The bathrooms were very clean as was the dining area. When you walk in, they do have some ready-made food for you to bring home and also some salad dressings. We sat by the window, which was very nice. If I do go back, I'll probably just stick with water or sweet tea.
