Nothing feels overly processed or greasy, and I don't leave with that "why did I eat that" feeling. What stands out to me is how easy it is to build something without meat and still feel satisfied. Chopt is one of my favorite healthy choice spots for lunch or dinner in the Summit shopping area on Hwy 280. It's easily accessible and there's lots of free parking. We were enthusiastically greeted by the friendly staff upon entering. We ordered the Kale Caesar Salad with warm chicken and the Classic Cobb salad. Some may think it's a negative, but the chicken isn't really seasoned. Remember, it's a healthy choice! Also, they're always happy to make substitutions for no additional charge if there are things you don't want on a particular salad. For example, I always remove the tomatoes and bacon. There are many toppings from which to choose. Everything is really fresh! Then you have a choice of salad dressing and can request it light, medium or heavy and then your salad is chopped to perfection. I wanted a salad yesterday and I was near the Summit so I decided to finally tried Chopt. It took me a few minutes to decide on something, but I went with one of the salads that had fried chicken on it. I got it as it was and only added an egg. I love how they really shake up the salad and throughly mix it. Also, it's a good serving size. I had half of my salad for lunch and the other half for dinner. I have an obsession with a tex mex southwestern salad , so obviously I went with the Sante fe ,I LOVE corn . I made some additions , also opted for chopt blend lettuce mix. The salad was fresh with the requested heavy dressing. I ate the entire bowl which says alot . Andre the manager was so sweet and attentive. It has warm grains drizzled with Creamy Lemon Herb dressing and is topped with warm roasted chicken, roasted brussels sprouts & sweet potatoes, marinated kale, and toasted pumpkin seeds with white balsamic vinaigrette. The Chinese Chicken Bowl was dry and would have benefited from being served warmer. The Mediterranean Warm Bowl was just ok and also not that warm as the name suggested. The restaurant interior is bright and open. Everything looks clean and welcoming. The price is on the higher side but probably reasonable for the location. However, it can get pretty pricey if you make your own! We ordered the Santa Fe and it came with a slice of bread. The salad itself was very good and the portion is definitely enough for the average person. The bread leaves a lot to be desired...it tasted old. Having lived in the northeast for several years, maybe my expectations were set too high. Maybe it was because we came at the grand opening. Maybe it's a combination of the two things. Once we heard that Chopt was opening in Birmingham, I marked the day on my calendar. I was excited to get my chopt on and share the experience with my husband. We arrived around 6 PM, and while the line was long, it moved. I had wanted to try a new salad , but was disappointed that it wasn't available. Boo! So I went with a classic that I have had many times before... the Mexican Caesar: romaine, cheese, tortilla chips, jalapeños, and cased dressing. The salad should be chopped and all of the ingredients should be in small pieces, but once I got home, I realized that was not the case. I had huge pieces of jalapeño in my salad, which basically made the salad inedible since every bite had huge chunks of jalapeño. Take a look at the picture I posted of the pieces of jalapeño I pulled out. Man, this will most likely be my last time here. For $13 I got a 2/3 full bowl of salad and no bread. I asked if they had bread when it wasn't available and they said they were out when there was a visible basket of bread..... my husband was not offered bread right after me and I had to go back to get it for him. For $13 I can go get a big ass Texas Roadhouse salad enough for two meals, a four-piece roll basket with honey butter, an adult-sized cup, and I reckon that's what I'm doing from now on. I had a fairly good experience at Chopt. Overall, I would recommend it if you are looking for a convenient and healthy option. The inside was very clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I chose the "craft your own" bowl option, which allows you to pick a base, 4 toppings, and a dressing. Additional toppings cost extra, so I made a very simple salad and I enjoyed the meal. However, the salad was definitely not as good or as sustaining as salads I have had from similar establishments like Chop N Fresh. They do have a great drink selection though, including Spindrifts which can be a healthier alternative to soda. Also, I noticed that the ingredients behind the counter had gotten a bit mixed into each other. I'm sure this is very hard for employees to avoid, and it wasn't a big deal to me personally, but if you have specific allergies this would be something to consider! read more

My wife has been raving about Chopt for a while now, so we were definitely going to be coming out here once it opened. I ended up getting one of the warm cauliflower rice bowls, and it was very good. I would get it or another bowl again any time. My wife had a spicy salad and was very disappointed in it. It was hardly chopped at all and had huge pieces of jalapeno in it, which was definitely not good and led to some extremely spicy bites. I love spice, and it was a lot even for me when I tried her salad, and basically swapped plates due to her being unable to finish her meal. Overall, my experience was good, but my wife's was not - which means neither of us are happy with the experience - happy wife, happy life and all, right? We may try it again in the future, but it may be some time. Hopefully the issue was due to it being rush hour and it just having opened. read more

So happy to find another great salad place in Birmingham! Sometimes you're just in the mood to scrape the plaque off your arteries, right? I was a little overwhelmed when I came in due to the amount of options, so even though building your own salad is a possibility, I went with one of the existing salads, the Kale Caesar (I added grilled chicken)! This was a blend of classic romaine, kale, chicken, Parm, croutons, and creame Caesar dressing. All the calorie counts are present on the menu boards, so this place is definitely diet friendly! The salad creator who helped me was very sweet and friendly! They serve up your salad in a bowl, and then combine it with dressing (there is an extra, regular, and lite dressing option - regular was PLENTY, so I might go with lite next time!!) in a large bowl so it is optimally blended. A very cool idea, because there's nothing worse than a bite of salad without any dressing. You don't have that problem at Chopt! Other things I appreciated - they serve baby lettuce chopped small so its very easy to take a bite. This sounds silly maybe, but for me, one of my issues with salad is that it can be hard to eat. The Chopt method makes it very easy. In addition to being perfectly blended so you can get a bit of each element in every bite, the salad was very filling! I wouldn't have believed it. If I hadn't had errands to run after, I would have saved half for later, but I wolfed it down instead because I didn't want it to go to waste. Doing the build your own gets really expensive, really quick. I started adding things that I like and it got up to around $16. When I got my food and started mixing, I was thinking that maybe the add ons in the salad were more significant than the ones one the side. But it wasn't. I got some of their chicken and there probably wasn't a half of a breast worth in there. Walnuts were skimp along with everything else. The flavor was fine. But there was just SO MUCH MIXED GREENS, you couldn't taste anything else. Once I hit a bite with toppings, it was really good. But without, my mouth got tired of chewing blandness. So much potential. But at that price, the disappointment meter was x2 on this meal. I will give them another shot with one of their already selected salads. Pretty good salads!! I've only had one salad from here, the Santa Fe salad. It was super nice! I enjoyed the size of it, as the toppings were also plentiful. I would have liked extra dressing, however, over all, it's a very filling meal as well as super tasty. My sister also had the Mexican Caesar Salad and she orders this one regularly. A go to for me. The chicken tinga grain bowl is something I crave. I eat here 1-2x a month, more often when my husband is traveling for work. My girlfriends and I love ordering from here for a cozy girls night in. So many offerings on the menu are wonderful. The dressings really elevate the entire concept. A couple of tips, I highly recommend ordering off the menu over building your own, and substituting or adding a topping or two if you like. They are experts and already have great options on the menu. A lot of people make mistakes with items they like in a build your own, but that aren't very good together. Another pro tip, ask them to try a dressing before dousing your salad in it to make sure you love it! The chimichurri ranch is so good I could drink it. The place has been clean in my experience and service has been great, sometimes they have new employees that aren't as quick but they are always so kind. I love that they support local businesses as much as possible, and enjoy the local sourdough from Birmingham bread works. I've been loving chopt for many years (since long before they came to Birmingham), and somehow never tried the soups until recently?! The tomato soup is completely homemade and outstanding. If you didn't like your salad, you probably ordered the wrong thing! Try something new on your next visit. You can't beat the quality and freshness. I really enjoyed my visit to Chopt Creative Salad. I met some friends here for quick lunch. I had previously received a tip to look at the menu and get an idea of what I wanted in case it was crowded around lunch time. It was only a small crowd when I went a little after 11. After changing my mind about 50 million times while I was in line, I finally settled on the Chopped Cobb Salad. The customer service was great and the line moved by really quickly. I really enjoyed my salad, along with the bread that they give you (which is optional). They provide a wide range of toppings, but I didn't feel too overwhelmed to pick something. You can also easily customize menu options and tell them what you don't want on your salad. They also have rice bowls, soups and can make anything into a wrap. So I may do that on my next visit. The salad was fresh and it doesn't seem like the bowl is that huge. But once I started eating, I got full quickly. I went with the: MEXICAN CAESAR SALAD Cotija cheese, jalapeno peppers, tortilla chips, romaine and had the SWEET & SMOKY CHIPOTLE VINAIGRETTE (on the side) and MEXICAN GODDESS (on the side as well). Both dressings were really good in their own way and I swapped back and forth between the two. Portions are large and the price point is on par with what you would pay if you go to a sit down restaurant and ordered a salad. I had been dying to try chopt and when my friends wanted somewhere we "could get a salad," I suggested we al try this. It was a Sunday and was super busy with post church traffic. I didn't know I could order ahead but next time, if it's during peak hours, I will do that. The restaurant was very clean as were the bathrooms. They also have the cutest Vulcan themed wallpaper that I obsessed over for a good 20 minutes. There were so many options on what to do with salad. You could of course build your own. They had several types of lettuce/spinach/ and blends so it was nice to know we weren't getting iceberg grossness. All the ingredients were fresh and some even came from local farms. They have several menu salads that all sounded so good. I had the kebab cobb with chicken, but you could also add shawarma chicken. It was basically a Greek salad but better. The dressing was a taziki yogurt based dressing and it fit the salad ingredients perfectly. I liked that the lettuce was chopped up and not chunky, because it made it easier to eat. The salads are also HUGE. I didn't have a warm bowl but two other people in my group did and they looked awesome.
