This review is specifically for the catered/box lunches we recently enjoyed from Tasty Town. Each lunch was boxed separately and included the silverware packet. That's a huge plus; the number of times I've seen referees having to pass on the side because they didn't have utensils! The entree was a chicken pita. It did have a few fresh onions, but I enjoyed them since I didn't have to be the one dragon breathing around the field all day. We did have a choice of roasted potatoes or basmati rice. The potatoes went much quicker than the rice; I had the potatoes and they were fantastic. There was also a tray of chocolate chip cookies provided. I don't think they were frash made; they looked similar to other restaurants generic chocolate chip cookies. They were a nice addition to the lunch, though. Recently had Tasty Town as a catered lunch for a sporting event. Our lunch was a chicken pita (wrapped like taco of sorts) and I got roasted potatoes as my side. They also brought a large side box of chocolate chip cookies that were individually wrapped. Everyone loved the wraps, though the fresh onions were a little rough on some of us. Have come here several times! It's a seemingly odd location for a restaurant, but the food is pretty solidly delicious. It is essentially an elevated Taziki's I came most recently and sat on the patio outside, which can definitely get pretty loud with cars driving by, but has a great view of Railroad Park. I tasted both the beans and the potatoes and, while they were very flavorful...both would have been even better had they been at the least warm. He told our server, and he received a fresh bowl of potatoes that were piping hot. This made them even better. He said his food was good overall after this correction was made. My pastichio did not live up to my expectations. I've eaten pastichio every year from the Greek Festival and they have me spoiled. While this version was tasty, it lacked what I have come to expect when I order this dish. It was basically noodles with a little meat sauce and a little cheese on top. I would not order this again. The server took too long in between checking on us. We sat waiting on him for refills and our check way too long. There's a fine art when it comes to this, and he did not master this. He was nice though so that helped. Overall, the experience was just okay for me. While the food was tasty and the aesthetic was fun and trendy, I think my expectations were too high. I really enjoy going to Tasty Town for lunch. I normally get the catfish lunch meal with the Village Salad and their French fries, and it's always exactly what I'm craving. I usually pair it with their French fries because I can't resist the crispy, golden texture. Excellent service and dining experience. Great spot for business dinners or lunch with friends. We arrived at 5pm and from the time we arrived we were received with a warm welcome and just loved the atmosphere and vibe. Update: did another pick-up order and was so disappointed. Giving them some grace and giving 3 stars. I walked in and had to wait quite a while to finally got acknowledged. It was kind of uncomfortable. No one was at the front hostess area. People made eye contact but did not offer to help. Finally someone helped, and I told them I was picking up a to-go order. She was perky and sweet. I checked my bag when I got to the car and realized I had no utensils. I went back in and asked, and they questioned it, as if I was not looking carefully enough. No...please, give me some utensils so I can eat this? They did. Once I finally opened the food, I realized it looked different compared to before. I have been here several times with others and to sit at the bar to try some appetizers and always leave regretting that I chose to come and dine. But my god...think about the portion size that you would expect to receive after viewing the price point then decrease that by at least 1/3 of the size. ESPECIALLY the drinks. First time for a meal here and it was a very nice experience. Ali was a wonderful server and very friendly. The braised lamb pita with the lemon potatoes was very good. The chicken pita for my wife was also good. The small Greek salad was excellent. We finished off the meal with piece of chocolate cake. The cake was moist and delicious. I have tried tasty town on several occasions now. It is very close to my job so I pop in for lunch on my break or to grab dinner on my way home. During lunch hour the restaurant is sometimes busy but for super fast service I sit at the bar. I always see new people in there when I go. I'm predicting that staff turn over isn't that great. New bartenders and servers always. I've only tried a few things off the menu. The side salads are super good and flavorful, I tried the 1/2 baked chicken but didn't realize it was chicken on the bone, the fried and sautéed shrimp is good as well. I've been here dozens of times but never have did a review. This time I was there with a group and Bella served us. She could be an ambassador for the place and was super friendly and helpful. We were there earlier around five or so and there were few customers which was nice because we could all talk easily while we had salads, hummus and taziki. we all ordered different things for our entree and everyone's was perfect and arrived quickly. This was a new and quick option that I selected to DoorDash my mama. I have not been to the restaurant yet so I cannot speak to the vibe of the location. However, because of my mama's review, I will have to stop by. She told me that the food came packed very well. She received the 1/4 chicken with the lemon potatoes and the green beans (in red sauce), and the chicken pita with seasoned rice. Each of the sides had their own container, which she liked. Her chicken was flavorful and really good, and she truly enjoyed the lemon potatoes. In her words, they were "bright and delicious". The chicken pita was good with the same flavorful chicken that she ate on the "meat and two" plate, and the seasoned rice was good too. She said the only thing she did not really care for was the green beans in the red sauce. She said it was good, but it was very salty. Since she eats a low sodium diet, the salt in the green beans overpowered her taste buds. Other than that, she would recommend this restaurant and she would want me to bring food from here again. We've had this place on our radar for a while now, but haven't made it over here to give it a try until last night. We walked in and were immediately greeted. After being seated, we decided to get the zucchini fritters for an appetizer. They came out with a tahini butter and had a honey dripping on them and were very good. For our food, I got the half chicken with the lemon potatoes and their take on mac and cheese. The chicken was delicious, as were the potatoes. This really lived up to the hype for me! The grilled chicken pita was SO delicious. Chicken tasted chargrilled, pita was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - better than usual pita. You can tell it's homemade. The olive oil they drizzled on it added such a great flavor too. Found this gem on Yelp and it did not disappoint. The flavor of the food was amazing. Let me start by sharing the previous night I had Taziki's and the chicken wasn't good- in fact, it was rubbery. Tasty Town owns up to its name. The chicken was "Tasty". I literally could taste the grill flavor. The fries were surprisingly great and didn't require ketchup. Lastly, the freaking chocolate cake was sooo moist and fresh. I couldn't eat all of it in one setting. I appreciate the friendliness of this place and the freshness the food offered. I've worked in a restaurant and understand that mistakes happen. No big deal, recover from it and move on. But when a waiter has to be reminded when entrees hit the table that they never brought a beverage, there should be some urgency to fix the problem. Don't check on two other tables, then walk to the back to grab the drink and stop by another table before coming back. A quick mia culpa and moving like you value the customer experience would have erased the problem and preserved a 20% gratuity. The food is great and previous trips have had perfect service.
