To save a little extra money, the kid's pita meal is often plenty of food. You get a pita filled with protein of your choice, along with grains and a few toppings. As for me, I got a bowl with falafel, greens, cucumber, corn, feta cheese, and with red pepper and regular hummus to dip. This is my go-to order and it hasn't let me down yet. I'd also recommend getting the pita chips if you'd like; they're perfectly crunchy with addictive seasoning sprinkled on top. This location (downtown Birmingham) is clean and the workers are quick. Never had a bowl so minimally filled before. For $20 i would expect to get the amount of toppings i ordered. Everything was cold the 1/2 cup of rice at the bottom was hard and inedible. This place gives me a lot of mixed feelings. I love that it's a healthier option and it doesn't make you feel stuffed after eating but the portion sizes are so small. Especially if you order delivery like DoorDash. I can't tell you how many times they have forgotten things. The chicken & salmon taste good but you just need more. The greens are usually fresh. My bestie and I visited here on our way to an event. I've been hooked ever since. I love the different healthy options available and that you can fully customize your experience. It would help to browse the menu before going so you don't hold up the line during busier times. I think in this day I opted for a veggie bowl. This CAVA is located at Midtown in Birmingham, and as someone who has tried every single CAVA in the area, I can attest that the Midtown one is the best (yes, they're all different). My bowl consists of saffron rice, half grilled chicken, half harissa honey chicken with broccoli, roasted corn, pita crisps, and topped with either garlic dressing or skhug. I have been to this location many times. It is conveniently located not far from campus and the food fills you up but does not make you feel icky after. I usually get a rice and spinach bowl with a lot a veggies and some hummus. When I am not feeling like eating any meats, the veggies still fill me up and is equally delicious. It is not too pricey to get a bowl, and the service is always great. I have never felt rushed by the employees, even when it is very busy. This location has indoor and outdoor seating which are both great to eat at. I prefer to eat outside when the weather is good, but the inside of the resturant is great and is not a bad option. Tried Cava for the first time! The staff was very helpful. They answered all of my questions. There is one Chef Recipe vegetarian bowl, Lentil Avacado. Everything tastes fresh. The flavors mix well. If the ingredients in the chef recipes don't sound amazing to you, you can make your own bowl. Think Chipotle but Mediterranean. You can also build a pita instead of a bowl. I am neither vegan nor vegetarian, so I always get a Cava bowl with braised lamb or chicken. Also, if you want to add more protein without eating meat, you can ask for a base of lentils instead of rice which tastes great. I have to say my favorite part is the fried pita chips. They pair with the bowl so well. Every time I go, even if there is a line, the workers always move fast and get you in and out. If you want to save a little money, you can always get the kid's pita meal as well. I sometimes get that if I am trying to keep my calories on the meal low. On my recent stop at CAVA, I got a brown rice and lentil grain bowl with tatziki, harissa, chicken, tons of veggies, and yogurt dill sauce. My favorite thing was that I could ask for extra vegetables at no extra charge. And the bowl was also so large that it lasted for 2 meals. It's nice that fast casual spots like CAVA make healthy eating super convenient! My only complaint is that bowls can be really salty, but the veggies and all the fiber kind of balance it out in my opinion. The location of this CAVA location is also very convenient, as it is very close to a number of apartment complexes and UAB facilities. They had several pick up times you could choose from and all the nearby locations. I got a build your own bowl with super greens as a base and I did have a little of the wild brown rice added. The hot and spicy dip was delicious. I ordered the vegan option of the falafel crunch bowl and a blueberry lavender lemonade. The meal was very good and the lemonade is one of my new favorites! The only thing I feel like could be improved is more falafel in the bowl, but I understand this differs from location to location. I will definitely repeat this order in the near future. I've visited the downtown location, 280 location and the Homewood one. I enjoy the downtown and 280 the best, the Homewood one was honestly kind of dirty and it took away from the experience.
