The Bend Oregon location is not trying very hard and their employees have no Reserve when telling the customers how this place makes them want to die LOL which is very sad to hear while you're shopping.. they say that they're hiring but after a recent Facebook post I found six applicants that just never got a call back or anything. I was one of those applicants and spent the last 3 weeks talking to the managers in the aisle of the store they seemed excited for my hire but little did I know HR had already thrown my application away all the way back on the 3rd so apparently they don't communicate amongst each other either. I found this store to be almost too big. But the good news is that I was able to buy my trailer stuff, clothes and food all at one place.

This is the worst store in central Oregon? I vehemently recommend no one shop here if you don't wanna waste your time! I went here on 8/26/18 to shop for school for my son along with my wife and diabetic mother. Being such a big store, we were there for OVER THREE HOURS!!! Upon shopping I had a virtual card that I use with all other online purchases as well as an option in my wallet to use it in store. First of all, everyone knows that Apple Pay is the number 1 method of payment for retailers on the country! After spending half an hour in line and ringing everything up, I was told they do not accept Apple Pay! WHHHAAAATTT?!?!! What kind of corporate store as big as Fred Meyers does not accept Apple Pay?!? Needless to say, I still had the virtual card in my Apple Wallet, complete with 16 digit card number, expiration date, and three digit CVV code. The app even said that if Apple Pay was not available, to show the virtual card to the cashier and allow them to use it to enter the card details manually! To make matters worse, I was able to test the virtual card at Fred Meyers website to order something online and it went through immediately. Now to the part that really pissed me off!!! When I told the cashier to run the card manually, as it said, they told me that they weren't allowed to do that. WAIT WHHAATT?!?! How is it that you cannot run a card manually?? What if someone had a chip or mag stripe that didn't work? Would someone else have to just cancel their purchase??? What a crock of shit!!!! I asked a clerk manger why this was and was informed that there is no Apple Pay and that there isn't a way to enter the details manually due to fraud?!?! I'm sorry if I have a MasterCard, that has an amount on it, that has all the info including the card number, expiration, CVV code, and all my billing info, then obviously there is a way to enter the details manually and verify my info, especially considering I had my drivers license on me to verify the info!! So after THREE AND A HOUR HOURS AND ALMOST 450 dollars in clothes and supplies, I was told that I simply had to leave everything behind and could not complete my purchase! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?! Three and a half hours of my life wasted because you won't enter details manually? Because you don't accept Apple Pay? What a fucking joke! It was then I spoke to Renee Staten, the manager on duty, who again informed me that they do not accept Apple Pay, again the single most used method of payment of retailers in the country, and that due to fraudulent activity or something that they weren't allowed to enter the details manually, as anyone can anywhere else, such as when a mag stripe or chip is t working, or when using the virtual card online. I even informed her that I used the card to order something online just to test it and showed her that it immediately went through. I also asked her what does happen when another customer has a card that doesn't traditionally work. She informed me that they have to "call corporate" to manually verify the info and the funds. So let me get this straight, I have a card that has all sixteen digits, the expiration date, the CVV code, the billing information that matches my drivers license information, and you can "call corporate" to verify the billing info as well as the funds? She then tells me that it still wouldn't work, because I don't have THE PHYSICAL CARD?!?!? Are you fucking serious??!??!? What the fuck is the difference?!?!? ALL THE SAME FUCKING VERIFIABLE INFORMATION IS THERE AND THE FUNDS CAN BE VERIFIED UNDER MY NAME AMD BILLING ADDRESS FOUND ON MY DRIVERS LICENSE?!?? AND I HAVE JUST PROVEN THAT I CAN USE THE SAME CARD ON THEIR WEBSITE TO MAKE A PURCHASE?!?! WTF?!?!? I guess at this time there is nothing left to do but to leave this review and trust me I will be calling corporate and leaving a long nasty call to them. Perhaps I might even seek legal compensation for wasting my fucking time!!!! My fiance and I walked into the Bend, Oregon store this afternoon. We both look a little young but we are in our mid 20's and have been engaged for 3 years. My fiance got my engagement ring fixed up at this jeweler so we thought we would look for my wedding ring there as well. We walked into the Fred Meyer jeweler and a woman behind the counter looked up and said shortly "looking for some big diamonds today?". I almost turned back and asked "what's that supposed to mean?" But I didn't want to start anything. My fiance instead replied "just looking thank you". She went back to what she was doing and none of the employees offered to help us or answer any questions we had even though there was no one else in the shop. What happens when you put something huge (like Walmart) and combine it with something slightly better (Target) and add in a gas station and groceries (Costco). This is the result. Plenty of clothes to choose from. Lots of fresh produce, bakery, deli, meat and frozen goodies. They also have a gun section, fishing section, and home and furnishings section. I gave it one star for the selection they have and for a few and I repeat, a FEW, of the caring workers. I have never experienced this at a grocery store anywhere else except Bend, OR Fred Meyer. The people who work here at this location must have the worst management for hiring people of any worth. Most workers are completely rude, make fun of customers- in front of them, are the most disingenuous people I have ever come across. They are entitled people with huge egos and nothing to have an ego about. You are in a customer service position- I have to tell you this because it is clear now that you are not aware of this fact. Might be a good idea to quit this customer service job drive off a cliff because you're not helping society one bit. I have heard this from other grocery store clerks around town - the (true) rumor that most of the people who work at your location are AWFUL people. If you are wanting to go to Fred Meyer- which it is a mediocre grocery store at best- I recommend using the gas and driving to Redmond. I don't usually write reviews about grocery stores but I had the nicest experience the other day. I was looking at a huge display of specialty crackers (near the fancy cheese & olive bar) when an employee asked to help me. She pointed out several gluten free crackers there and then took me to the gluten free aisle and pointed out all the crackers there too! The butcher shop area had a very pleasant worker. Then at check out the clerk was extremely nice and actually asked me how I wanted some of my items bagged! I really appreciated the extra efforts and smiles by all! Fred Meyer is great for picking up all the little things you might need as well as taking a peek at some shoes;) Love the olive bar, reasonable priced organic veggies and you earn points to make gas cheaper. I am revisiting the review to upgrade them to 5 stars because of their very smart idea of selling less than $5 small chunks of gourmet cheese. Allow me to begin by saying that I have been working in the healthcare industry for over ten years and deal with both local and nation wide pharmacies each and every day. I can confidently say both as a medical professional as well as a patient myself that the Fred Meyer Pharmacy here in Bend Oregon is one of the most inefficient and poor customer oriented pharmacies I've worked with. Not only have they made errors in my prescriptions in regards to dosage quantity and billing; they have also failed to spell my name correctly despite my calls for corrections. A misspelled name may not be such a high priority in some fields. However, when we are dealing with prescriptions of all different shapes, colors and sizes, the difference between an "S" here and a "T" there can be detrimental. Having that said, I understand the work of a pharmacist. It is a VERY BUSY industry to say the least. Phones ringing off the hook, patients at both ends at the counter, insurance companies to call, doctors and nurses to order to. It is a juggling act in every sense. Mistakes are bound to happen, it can happen to any of us. With an honest mistake admitted and proper customer service delivered, these types of mistakes and/or issues can be overlooked if corrected and accounted for. This has not been my experience at this pharmacy. I have found not only the pharmacy technicians to be cold, unprofessional and blatantly rude; but sadly, the pharmacists themselves behave the same way, almost to a further degree. I miss the times when your pharmacist was a trusted friend who knew you by name and was legitimately concerned with your health and well being. Sad that I can say this as a 28 year old young woman but unfortunately, it is true. I remember when times were different. I realize that there may be no going back to that type of specified care, in this high tech day and age. However, is it asking too much for us, our families and our patients alike to be treated with common decency and respect? I think not. I give Fred Meyer Pharmacy in Bend Oregon my lowest recommendation for your pharmaceutical and overall healthcare needs. read more

I am in Bend Oregon. Someone fraudulently used my debit card number and made over $300.00 worth of purchases at 7:14.41am in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood Fred Meyer Store. I called their Corporate Customer Service number, and got this person named "Jill" who could not have been more rude and unhelpful. She basically accused me of making the transaction myself then calling in to file a fraudulent claim. I, once again told her I was in Bend Oregon, where she then ask " isn't Washington close to Oregon", I said excuse me! That Fred Meyer is 6 1/2 hours north of me. So this female actually said "so it is possible you could have made the charges" I asked her are you f***ing kidding me. She wanted to know when last I shopped at that location. I told her 15-16 year's ago when I lived in that area. She would not connect me to or, even give me the phone number to the Ballard location. She kept asking me all throughout this laborious conversation if I had a Fred Meyer card, I told her no, but I have a QFC card, and she said "well that is not the same now is it!" so, it came as a surprise when she asked me the same question five more time. Each time the answer did not change. I asked why she is being so rude, she said she was not but that I was and was preparing to hang up on me when I said that I certainly hope this conversation was recorded. I would welcome a call from Fred Meyer, because in addition to this person being rude to me the supervisor (who did not give me his name) at the Ballard location hung up on me after I gave him the transaction number that I got from my bank and the time and date. I asked him if they could pull the video being that everything is recorded and I was told that "they" would not be releasing any security film footage and he hung up on me. I love this store and have shopped here for years but the past 3 times I have gone there the floors are DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY and there is a chemical smell throughout the store, especially near the health food section. To me it looked like whoever was hired to do the floors stopped mid job and left leaving dirty floors and a gross chemical smell that carries throughout the store. I too have had pricing errors and charges that didn't reflect what I bought, as well as produce that I would have never have picked for myself. BUT, this virus time is unprecedented and it's time for us to give others (including Fred Meyer) a break! Kroger is trying to give good service and if there is a charging error you can call 1-800-576-4377, and they will fix it. And remember they do your shopping just before you are scheduled to be at the pick up slot. So you may not get everything you ordered 2 days before. Please exhibit a little grace and be thankful you have food on your table! Many people do not, and their kids go to bed hungry. Big, clean store. Quality of produce is good, but there's nothing unique--really standard stuff. The bakery is okay. French and Italian breads are good, but the patisserie area is to die for: great tarts, Napoleans, and other delicacies. The big "health food" area has lots of vegetarian options and homeopathic products. Grocery prices go up and down: more tourists, more dollars. Waits in line are generally long, both in the store and at the gas pumps, but you can't beat the inexpensive gas. read more

Very upset about Fred Meyer's pharmacy policy of only allowing one Good RX coupon to be used for an account (not individual coupons per prescription) and for not allowing any updates to that coupon. This policy has caused me to have to pay DOUBLE what an updated coupon would have had me pay!! It's like Fred Meyer rounded up the rudest people in the town of Bend and asked them all to work at Fred Meyer gas station. They're incompetent, never make eye contact, slow, and even mean at times. The store itself is great. They have everything! However I work near Fred Myer and occasionally I will buy lunch over there. The deli is the worst deli I've ever been to. Their fried food is questionable. I ate some fried chicken there not too long ago and found a flappy gummy grey thing on it. I instantly through it away. There stuff in the case always looks burnt and disgusting. I also HATE that they serve hot food in plastic bags and containers. The food totally melts the containers and then I feel like I'm eating plastic. Today I grabbed a soup container for the employee to put my mac and cheese in. No big deal right? Well she grabbed the container and slammed it down on the counter and had a big deal about it. The employees in the deli are so rude and lazy and half the time I get ignored when I walk up to the counter. There is one young man that works in the deli who does an excellent job and the poor boy gets bossed around by all the old miserable ladies that work there. I believe his name is alex I could be wrong, but he is usually really nice and helpful. Every other employee there is just in a bad mood and cant even make eye contact or ask how your day is going. Excellent department store! I have been shopping here for years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The produce and meat are consistently great in quality. They have a wide range of packaged foods, and their pricing is competitive. The clothing they carry is high quality but more expensive. Their selection of housewares is impressive. The sporting good's section is limited. Overall, this store has what I need and is my number one go to spot when I am in need of a departments store! read more

Right now they are remodeling and Fred Meyers is beginning to look a lot like Walmart. I don't know what their end plan is but it is confusing. The floors always looked like they had seen better days, the outside of the store needs a thorough pressure washing, I can't find what I need inside as everything has moved and I just don't know where. The clothing section is one big warehouse with no signs to indicate what is where, the aisle to leave the store is now the shoe store, and the worst part are their bathrooms (try not to ever use them). They stink and they are filthy. The one good thing? Their prices beat out everyone and they have an organic produce section. BUT, they removed the bins permanently so all I can get that isn't boxed is oatmeal. Please Freddie's, make this a nice story, not just another big box warehouse. Fred Meyer Bend customer service was terrible. Saturday I went in looking for a specific item. I couldn't find it. I asked the stock clerk working in the baking aisle, where I was searching, for assistance. He said he couldn't check to see if they carried the specific product. I asked, "Who can?" He responded he didn't know. So I walked to Customer Service. The young woman there told me no one does stock checks and didn't know who could help me. Crowds, long lines, overcharging. I get that the long lines are due to the slow service, but I don't understand why this store is so crowded in the first place. The layout makes it very difficult to find what you need and the employees just stand around and gab rather than assist with anything. Except for the lady behind the fish counter, who was actually doing her job when she finally got back there. Now that I'm home I see that none of the discounts they advertised on the shelves were actually applied to my bill. Plus two separate charges for an item that didn't have it's tag properly affixed. I needed to return a ring that was beyond the 90 day return policy. Jerry under stood my situation and was able to pull some strings and let me exchange a promise ring that was never worn for a couple really nice watched for myself!! Not a bad store but plenty of room for improvement. The produce selection is of better quality and selection over Albertson. The store is usually clean but almost always hard to navigate through. The front end could use some help in customer service and friendliness , and training on how to process a check from their corporate offices. I get a promotional check every so often from the credit card issued under the Kroger name and it is always a problem to use. I can not take it any where else because it is made out to that store. I love this Fred Meyer. Maybe it's because it's the first Fred Meyer I'd spent a lot of time shopping at or maybe it's the bulk bins. The produce is fresh, they carry lots of natural and organic items and the gas is 10 cents off if you spend 100 dollars. I'm a food snob and they carried a lot of the obscure food I tend to eat. If you're a vegetarian you're in luck- lots of faux meat and tofu products. And man, I know I mentioned them already but I love those bulk bins. My only complaints? Sometimes the layout is confusing and I really hate waiting in the gas line. read more
