Here's the bottom line up front: Based on the name and some quick Googled bits (apparently TOO quick), my wife and I headed to Old Mill District during a family trip in search of, well, something old and historic and cool. Those of you have been here... it's not that. I feel like maybe it was once the site of something old and historic, but now it's mostly just a modern series of fairly common brand shops and such, with some local flavor dropped in. Our main destination was Sisters Coffee, and that experience was great. Parking and navigation is tricky because the lots are spaced out and small, and some have only one way to get in and out. It's great if you want to walk, not so great driving. Bottom line, if you want history, look elsewhere. If you want to shop 'till you drop, this is the place. read more

The Old Mill District is a must visit if you are in Bend! I walked around here with my friend and our dogs and had such a great time. There are lots of stores and restaurants to explore, and it is located right along the beautiful Deschutes River. The whole area is very clean, well maintained, and super dog friendly, which we loved. It is also close to Riverbend Park, so you can easily make it part of a longer walk or hike. We walked from the park to the Old Mill District and enjoyed the river views the entire way. Between the shopping, dining, and incredible scenery, this is one of the highlights of Bend. The views are amazing and it is a perfect spot to spend an afternoon. The selection of stores and restaurants is top notch. Highly recommend! read more

What a Charming mall. The Historic Old Mill District in Bend, Oregon, and exudes a welcoming and classy ambiance-so festive too. We flew in from wine country to spend time with family and this was one of the first stops before venturing off to tour more of the city. The district's beautifully designed spaces, lined with unique shops and stunning river views, created a picturesque backdrop for our day. Each storefront had its own character, and each store featured after Christmas after Christmas value and sales. . After we picked up a few gifts, lights lined the street and we were enchanted by the winter decorations that added a festive spirit to the scenery. Such a nice mall. When deciding whether to visit downtown or the Old Mill District, while in Bend for the day, Old Mill District is great. There is so much to see and do while in town. It is so pretty and easy to get around. There are plenty of free parking spaces, bike rentals, and definitely so many trails to walk to get out and enjoy nature. The amphitheater has so many musical events, and if you are eating at one of the restaurants, the music can be enjoyed from the outside dining tables. The Deschutes River is great for taking a stroll on one of the walking paths, and during the summertime, plenty of people are paddleboarding or canoeing on the river. I even saw people in wet suits on wake boards traversing the small rapids by the bridge. Though I didn't see any fish in the river, it was clean, and there were some large crayfish around the shallow rocks. The landscape is beautiful with so many flowering plans and shrubs with different colored berries on many of them. Shopping is plentiful in the Old Mill District. Everything from boutique clothing to athletic gear for the outdoors. There are so many places to enjoy a meal though everywhere we ate, the food was good but the service was average at best. I enjoyed this area of Bend as it is more upscale and very family friendly. read more

The landscape was absolutely fabulous. It was only a 5 minutes walk from our hotel. Old Mill District - Lovely setting for a walk - Shopping Centers Near Me - Bend, Oregon

This is the best place to bring out of town visitors, but also a place we go to often for our own needs. It has the Regal theater, our favorite eateries Big Kona plates, Pastini.. And favorite stores REI. There are also workout sguduis: Cycle Bar, Orange Theory Fitness, and Free Spirit yoga and play. It is also the prime location to just hang out by the river or before a concert at the amphitheater. Parking can get full but you just have to be patient. There is something for almost everyone. Most the stores are high end/above average. read more

Cool little shopping area here. Very pretty on the river where you can watch the tubers float down all day long when it's warm out. As for shopping, it's much like any other shopping mall. Victoria secret, American eaglet and so on. There were a couple eateries and coffee shop. Nice place and clean. We fell in love with the Old Mill District! We stayed at a hotel across the river and just loving having the shops, restaurants and amphitheater all close by. It's such a beautiful area, the boardwalk along the river is quite accesible and easy to maneuver for disabled folks as well. Lots of fun restaurants, shops, coffee, movies etc, you could easily spend an entire day here. Parking is also easy although we just walked over from the hotel. Great for people watching in the summer watching the floaters go down the river ! read more

Glad we found this place in Bend OR Very nice outdoor shopping and dining area that's right along the Deschutes River. We strolled from shop to shop looking, window shopping, but mostly we came here looking for a dining experience. They had some very good restaurants to choose from. I had my eye at Anthony's Seafood and Greg's Grill but ultimately settled with Mio Sushi. Found out later that Anthony's and Greg's Grill had riverside dining. Dang it. Saturday evening was busy at the Old Mill District but not too bad that we couldn't find a parking spot. When I saw the REI building it had 3 smokestacks and looked like it occupied a historic building. Interesting. I read up on its history and found out that the Old Mill District formerly housed two competing lumber mills. Well, that explains the smokestacks. This place is a one stop shop for shopping, dining, and entertainment and because it is situated by the river other possibilities of entertainment such as kayaking and standup paddle boarding are other choices for some fun activities. After dinner, and before heading back to Klamath Falls, we stopped by Sweet Tooth Candy Shoppe for some yummy chocolates for the road. Review #1122 read more

If I was taking my SATs again, I would answer C. The Old Mill District is to Bend as the The Pearl District is to Portland. This is a high end shopping district with boutiques, shops, restaurants and a 16-screen movie theatre along the Deschutes River. You can even catch a concert at the Les Schwab Amphitheater. The place is gorgeous if you like this kind of thing. Since Bend is known for its anti-development stance, I am sure many locals absolutely hate it. Parking can be a total nightmare on a busy weekend since this is a major draw for tourists. It is also relatively easy to find, even for newbies, since you can see the three tall towers from miles away. It is a pretty cool space with nice walkways, public art displays, and benches along the river. You can always find lots of people strolling and enjoying the views of the mountains and watching kayaks and canoes float down the river. Some boats even drop anchor and listen to the concerts on the water... very cool! read more

I don't get the hype. This place is just a mall and nothing special aside from the fact that it backs up to the river and has smokestacks ooOOo. The parking lots were full but the shopping center was dead before 8pm on a Friday night. (Clearly the movie theater does great business.) If you're visiting from out of town, like we were, I suggest saving some time and checking out what else Bend had to offer in terms of "local flavor." Wow just found out I am getting kicked out of The Old Mill on nights when they have outdoor concerts. I don't go to concerts but enjoy being down there with friends with all the other people. Estimated 3000 are getting kick out because they did not pay for tickets most of which would never ever go to the concert so they are just kicking out Old Mill shop customers. I remember growing up here when it actually was a mill. While it's nice and I will continue to patronize the businesses. I will probably always lament the changes to the town. However, that said it's the shopping I always wanted as a younger person in Bend. We had to (before the internet) order most items from catalogs and/or make that trip to Portland or Eugene. I think it's well laid out and bit of everything. They even have an amphitheater for the latest concerts. I'll be back again. read more

This is right a long the river and it is fun to just watch all the people floating down the river. There is a great coffee shop and icecream store too. WARNING - OLD MILL WILL HAVE YOUR CAR TOWED IN THE SURROUNDING AREA AND THERE'S POOR STREET SIGNAGE. I parked on SW Shevlin Hixon Drive (and SW Columbia Street) amid a row of parked cars on the west side of the street on July 2nd. From my location, no parking signs were visible to either myself or my three passengers. We left the car around 1:15 pm, dropped off our belongings a couple hours later, and when we got back at 4:45 pm, the car was gone. It took some time to figure out that my car had been towed to the Bend Towing lot just 15 minutes earlier. When we arrived at the lot, we had to wait and they charged $307 cash only (including $45 for one day storage). With better street signage, I would not have parked in this location (and incurred such an excessive fee) and I would have been more understanding of a parking ticket. I regularly visit family in Bend and shop/dine in the Old Mill District, and unfortunately, this soured my experience. The City of Bend informed me this is private property of the Old Mill District. read more

Nice plaza to walk around and pick up a few things. Aside from the basics - the Gap, Banana Republic, etc., they also have some interesting and unique local Oregon shops to browse through. Not to mention a ton of restaurants and a couple wine tasting bars. Very convenient walk to the Hampton Inn across the bridge (a five minute walk). SO beautiful. SO clean. SO well taken care of. Looks brand spankin new. Lots of stores, Victorias Secret, White House/Black Market, Buckle, Banana Republic, Zumiez, PacSun, and the list goes on and on. This is river front and you can see paddle boarders and rafters going down stream enjoying the sunshine. This is a gorgeous setting with well kept stores (and restrooms!) I would have loved spending more time but my toddlers were pulling at me. I hit some of the stores and I'm glad I did. Recommended, would return read more

You could easily spend the entire day at the Old Mill District. There's shopping, food, entertainment, and walking trails. I enjoy walking around with my camera and sampling the food at the restaurants. Oh! They just added a Zumiez too! I love their hoodies and winter jackets. I love the Old Mill District. The shops are great and the employees are friendly. The patrons on the other hand can be snobby. But, don't let that stop you. Get out there and enjoy!
