The old Mill mall has an old mill

Like any eclectic outdoor mall these days it's got its own feeling vibe and we're stopping in to see what stores and offerings they have.

What a Charming mall. The Historic Old Mill District in Bend, Oregon, and exudes a welcoming and classy ambiance-so festive too. We flew in from wine country to spend time with family and this was one of the first stops before venturing off to tour more of the city. The district's beautifully designed spaces, lined with unique shops and stunning river views, created a picturesque backdrop for our day. Each storefront had its own character, and each store featured after Christmas after Christmas value and sales. . After we picked up a few gifts, lights lined the street and we were enchanted by the winter decorations that added a festive spirit to the scenery. Such a nice mall. Staff: every store we entered was welcoming.

Love the vibes here and it has a little bit of everything. Came for a jog and ended up shopping

Great area for walking along the river, shopping, eating or just hanging out at the coffee shops. This was a great experience.

When deciding whether to visit downtown or the Old Mill District, while in Bend for the day, Old Mill District is great. There is so much to see and do while in town. It is so pretty and easy to get around. There are plenty of free parking spaces, bike rentals, and definitely so many trails to walk to get out and enjoy nature. The amphitheater has so many musical events, and if you are eating at one of the restaurants, the music can be enjoyed from the outside dining tables. The Deschutes River is great for taking a stroll on one of the walking paths, and during the summertime, plenty of people are paddleboarding or canoeing on the river. I even saw people in wet suits on wake boards traversing the small rapids by the bridge. Though I didn't see any fish in the river, it was clean, and there were some large crayfish around the shallow rocks. The landscape is beautiful with so many flowering plans and shrubs with different colored berries on many of them. Shopping is plentiful in the Old Mill District. Everything from boutique clothing to athletic gear for the outdoors. There are so many places to enjoy a meal though everywhere we ate, the food was good but the service was average at best. I enjoyed this area of Bend as it is more upscale and very family friendly.

This shopping, eating, and music oasis is situated along the Deschutes River. Plenty of stores and restaurants to please everyone. There is also an outdoor amphitheater. The landscape was absolutely fabulous. It was only a 5 minutes walk from our hotel. The family had a wonderful time window shopping, eating dinner, and a post dinner leisure walk along the river.

Lovely setting for a walk

Fun place to enjoy nature, food, and shops! Several choices for non-chain restaurants.

Looks like an old moll was on e here. A very nice shopping & dining district with a hotel & some housing. A lot of active sportswear shops which was wonderful. Quiet Saturday morning here, a beautiful sunny day to be up & about.

Cool little shopping area here. Very pretty on the river where you can watch the tubers float down all day long when it's warm out. As for shopping, it's much like any other shopping mall. Victoria secret, American eaglet and so on. There were a couple eateries and coffee shop. Nice place and clean. This entire town has a very uppity vibe to it and everywhere I've been is quite the same as far as that goes

Really nice open and spread out. Theres a variety of shops. Quite a few restaraunts too. Some are located on the Deschutes River which is nice for views. Lots of parking here no worries. Nice easy walking through the center. REI owns the 3 pipes that are from the old mill. Definitely a nice stop and shop and see what's going on...and you can watch the floaters go down the Deschutes River.

We fell in love with the Old Mill District! We stayed at a hotel across the river and just loving having the shops, restaurants and amphitheater all close by. It's such a beautiful area, the boardwalk along the river is quite accesible and easy to maneuver for disabled folks as well. Lots of fun restaurants, shops, coffee, movies etc, you could easily spend an entire day here. Parking is also easy although we just walked over from the hotel. Great for people watching in the summer watching the floaters go down the river !

A fun place to explore. We had some time and were able to browse through multiple stores. Found a tasty cardamom roll too.

Bend Shoe Eastside

We were referred to Bend Shoe Eastside by their downtown store. I was looking for a specific…read morerunning shoe. Unfortunately, they do not stock that shoe; but, pointed me in the right direction to get the shoe that I want. That is custom service above a beyond my expectations.

This Eastside Bend offshoot of the long time Bend shoe business named Birkenstock - Bend Shoe Co…read more(located downtown on Wall Street) opened a couple of years ago in the Forum Shopping Center (the one that also hosts Whole Foods, Barnes & Noble, Wild Birds Unltd. and Nothing Bundt Cakes) in the space that used to be a Hallmark store. Shopping here recently was a top notch experience for excellent service from the people who work there and quality brands in a range of styles of shoes, sandals and boots in many sizes, including narrow and wide widths, for women and men. On a busy Wednesday afternoon every customer was promptly greeted and seemed to get the same quality care and attention from the knowledgeable staff who could make recommendations as well as help customers try on their choices from the many casual - comfort brands that included Hoka, Josef Siebel, Born, Taos, Ecco, Keen, SAS (San Antonio Shoemaker), Dansko and others. . When some customers needed a different size or color than what was available in this location's inventory, I could hear the staff offer to have it brought in from the downtown store or arrange for the shoe to be held at the downtown location if trying it there was what the customer wanted to do. My husband and I walked in expecting to spend a few minutes to get my feet measured and see if I could find a pair of shoes and we were both surprised to find such a large, well displayed inventory in the larger than expected light and bright space. We walked out more than an hour later with five pairs of shoes, three mine and two his, that are both comfortable and fun to wear. STELLAR SERVICE: Store manager Stephanie was professional and patient as she assisted me to try on probably a dozen pairs of shoes (in most places I am lucky if I can find one that will work for me) and another woman and a man who were also working on a busy Wednesday afternoon helped my husband. Everyone was knowledgeable about brands, fit and styles to make recommendations for both of us. That is particularly valued by me as I have hard to fit feet and also have had multiple sclerosis since my college years which makes balance and gait a problem so the right shoes are key. This was like shopping in Nordstrom for shoes in the day when I lived near those stores for skilled sales professionals who knew their product lines and understand feet too. This kind of skill and service is how customer loyalty is grown. CONVENIENT PARKING LOT: We lived in Bend for almost 20 years and shopped the downtown Birkenstock store from time to time but popping into this store on a recent visit to Bend was our first time at this location which we chose because downtown parking is miserable and this store location offers a convenient to use parking lot. Next time we are in town we will have shopping at this Eastside location on our "to do" list again. We recommend the store. ACCESSIBILITY: Accessible parking is in the lot right outside the door. All on one floor with ample clear floor space to navigate to displays and seating to try on. HOW TO FIND IT: Map and contact info to confirm this location can be found here: www.bendshoeco.com/locations/eastside-forum-shopping-center/
