Have a seat - we aren't candy coating anything in this review. Comfortable shoes, even the pretty ones, often edge pretty but never quite make it. That's fine - if you are willing to sacrifice style. A lot of women are not willing to do that. I used to be one of those women. You can easily see the caliber of heels I adore wearing by spying my past photos. Price be damned - if they are designer and force me to teeter on thin stilettos, I have them. Having said that, I have leaned to also counterbalance this footwear torture act with conservative, sensible shoes that aren't plain. Sometimes you have to make tough choices in life. Don't laugh - this is a real thing. I usually get my sensible footwear from Comfortable Shoes in Burlingame or San Carlos. Sure, it isn't as fancy as Neiman Marcus but it does help me get through a day of work. Walking all day when I am on vacation. Not being restricted by what I can do or where I can go because of what I am wearing on my feet. This adorable boutique featured comfort shoes that I wouldn't guess were. They have a lot of stylish offerings that I've never seen in my usual comfy shoe haunts. The service I received was attentive, non-rushed, and really helpful. I love the sandals I bought. I logged my usual 10,000 steps a day when I was in Seattle immediately after buying those sandals because I was unencumbered by stylish heels that aren't meant for city walking. I felt comfortable walking in my sandals. My cute sandals garnered so many compliments. I looked pretty in my sandals whether I wore slacks or dresses. I still met my daily walk goal without blisters or corns. I love this shop. The service is great, my shoes are super cute, and the money was well spent. Go. Browse. Do yourself a favor - have cute comfy shoes that aren't sneakers to ensure you, too, can enjoy looking stylish while enjoying walks. Your body will thank you for it. Walking comfortably is good. My husband picked up a colorful pair of Hokas, and I bought some wool hiking socks that were marked 20% off. Based on inventory and product variety alone, I'd give this place 5 stars. Unfortunately, the customer service didn't match the quality of the merchandise. I'm giving this 3 stars because the two employees we interacted with came across as... fake friendly? Not sure if that's a real term, but that's how it felt. At checkout, the man helping us ran into issues with the receipt printer. It wasn't printing correctly, so he asked if we wanted a receipt. My husband said no, he wasn't concerned. As we walked out, I did a quick mental tally and realized we didn't seem to get the 20% discount on the socks. We were still near the entrance, so we turned around but he wasn't there so we asked the woman employee to help us. I explained that we didn't have a receipt because their printer wasn't working properly, but it should be the last transaction in their system. I also mentioned that there might be something in the trash can, but it didn't print correctly, per what her colleague said. Instead of being helpful in a nice way, she replied with a snippy, "Well, I thought you said there's no receipt." That tone rubbed me the wrong way. If I were in her shoes, I would've at least apologized for the missed discount and tried to help resolve the issue, rather than getting defensive. The socks had large 20% off stickers, so it was clearly a pricing oversight. We're talking about an $8 difference--not the end of the world, but it's the principle and how the situation was handled. I think she did not like that I bothered her with such thing. As the saying goes, people won't always remember what you said, but they'll remember how you made them feel. And honestly, the whole vibe just felt snooty. If my husband didn't need to try on the shoes, I don't think we'd have received any help at all. I don't plan on coming back to this specific store. Maybe it's just a Bend, OR thing and this is how they act at that place--who knows.

She told me to pick a method to receive my receipt on the credit card machine. So I chose the email option and was entering in my email when I hear the cashier's voice repeating that "it's JUST asking how you want the receipt." She seemed annoyed. Then asked if I wanted a bag, I said yes and made a comment that the lid of the shoe box may not hold (justifying why I wanted a bag). She then put the box in the bag without closing the lid so the shoes fell out. I felt like it was amateur hour. So I opened the bag on the counter and readjusted the shoes back into the box, closed the lid, then re-bagged it appropriately. Then as I made my way to the door, I hear her voice yelling "have a great day!" I know I can't be expecting too much. It's not like I walked into a Hermès, but I wasn't in a flea market in the ghetto either.

Compared to most factory outlet malls, which are giant mega-malls, Bend Factory Stores is quite…read moresmall. Yet it still has a lot going for it. I like shopping in Columbia (which has really great deals), Eddie Bauer, Rack Room Shoes, Kitchen Collection and some others. Nike, too. The parking lot is huge.
