I was recommended this store by a friend of mine since it was my first time in Bend. It reminded me of a boutique I used to work at, which carries the same kind of brands we had, too, such as Free People, Amuse Society, Tom's, Wranglers, Volcom, etc. Everything was full price besides the sale items; I'd rather shop at the actual Free People store than buy that brand here. After letting 2 associates know that I didn't help, I decided to look at the sale section, which had pretty decent prices. While my boyfriend and I were just looking, we got told a total of four times in the span of 15 minutes that the sale was 50% off the lowest marked price. I couldn't take it anymore and just left. Here's a suggestion: since you guys are a smaller store, work on communicating with your coworkers to see if customers have been talked to. I know you guys were just trying to help but there comes a point where it becomes overbearing and annoying. Try to read your customers. After reading the recent views, I was skeptical. They won best of bend, so I thought ok maybe there was a turn around. My co worker & sister in-law love this place, so I went. Service was ok. I picked up a pair of leggings. There was more I wanted to buy, but because of the views..........washed before wearing them no problem good fit. Wore them 2nd time yesterday, and from ankle to knee stiching came undone while at work. I called, they said "because they were worn and washed we can't do anything. Worst customer service I've ever received. I seriously wish I could give this place zero stars. I dealt with the owner which makes this even worse. I received a sweater for my birthday and went to return it WITH the gift receipt. I was told that because it was "not within a month of the purchase date and it's out of season now" that they couldn't return it. I literally just received this gift a week ago so there is nothing that I could do sooner but I understood they could not give me a return, so I asked if I could just do a store exchange for something that fit me. She said "well sometimes we make exceptions but not this time - there is nothing we can do". What.. Sometimes?! Like if you feel like it?! Give me a break. This was an $85 dollar sweater. Your customer service sucks and as the owner of a small business I would be ashamed of that. Very unprofessional and unhelpful staff. Deceiving return policy. Most recently, let us know that that sales items could be returned for 'store credit.' When we actually tried to make a return, it was suggested that we were liars, that "they would of never said that." There are other places to shop in town, try those! read more

I wish I could make this a zero star review. Purchased overpriced jeans, two pair on Sunday, different brands and was in a rush so I only tried one pair on. Girl assured me it was no problem if the other pair didn't fit. Brought back one pair the NEXT DAY, tags still on the jeans and sure, there was "no problem" for them, they keep my money and are "happy" to give me store credit. TAGS STILL ON THE JEANS, BOUGHT THEM YESTERDAY. HELLO!?! Well, they didn't have another brand that FIT me, so ya, that's a problem for ME, the CUSTOMER. I was only so so on the brand that did, so why would I want two pair of them? To top that, the little girls that work here are snobbish and make it clear they couldn't care less about your satisfaction. I won't shop here again. Ever. I have been shopping at Vanilla (inconsistantly) for 4 years, mostly because of the prices (the economy totally sucks). In the past, they have had some decent items like a jacket that I may have picked up here and there. Upon my last visit, I was blown away! They really have expanded the men's selection and have presented a more urban vibe. I have been digging their Kasil jeans which are durable, moderately affordable and just freaking sweet. Vanilla is a great boutique if your style leans anywhere from beach bum to mountain chic. There are brands you cannot find anywhere in Bend and it's a clean, appealing store with a cozy interior design. However, I feel so uncomfortable shopping here. The associates are very standoffish and for the most part avoid you at all costs. If they're not chatting in groups at the register, they're rearranging the same stock over and over, but for some reason they don't reach out to help you. You will have to reach out to them. I understand that retail is rough, especially on busy days, but people also shop on their own rough days and you're not helping by being blatantly rude when asked about a sweater. Need a dressing room? Ask an associate and they'll take you right to one without saying a word. I live in Bend and come in often because I really do like their clothes, but my experience is always the same. I get looked up and down and (from my standpoint) judged the second I walk in until I leave. This is not the Bend vibe we want to send to travelers. I learned about this store from Erin at Olympia's Sweetlife --now at Salty in Long Beach, and so it was a must-see when I recently visited Bend. It is a huge space and carries many great brands --Free People, Tom's, Cosabella, etc. But the clothes are smushed together and hard to pull out to see. I think this store has the right elements for success but could benefit with someone like Erin's ability to display the product in a way that gives them space so that you can see them more clearly and appreciate the shopping experience to a greater degree. read more

July 2013 - Very disappointing experience. Bought full price non sale item and was told no refunds when I returned it a day later. To many other cool places to spend my money to have non customer friendly policies such as this....... Feb 2014 - Received a xmas gift from Vanilla Urban Threads that I tried to return. I was told I missed the "return window" for xmas gifts. Ha! First time I have ever heard such a thing. I left them with the shirt and went downtown and spent $350 on other things that I needed to get. Local Joe's has a fair return policy and I am way more comfortable spending my money there. VUT, you have a lot to learn about customer retention. I will make it a point to relate my two miserable experiences that I have had with your store at every given chance. read more

This place rocks. The clothes here are trendy, but not over the top. Prices are comparable to other stores that carry brands such as Ella Moss and Splendid. However, they also carry some cool brands I have never heard of that have proven to be of good quality. Sat by the shoes with my two granddaughters looking at shoes. Wanted to try some. 3 or 4 sales girls were at the register chatting. Only a couple people in the whole store. Never offered any help. One even came up to me and asked if I was trying on the shoes that were left on the floor behind me by another customer who never received any help either. After she retrieved the shoes behind me on the floor she walked away never asking me if we wanted help or to try on any shoes. A missed opportunity for sure. read more

Totally rad spot, owned and operated by a totally rad and awesome lady. The staff has always been very friendly to me upon each visit. The clothing selection is great for both men and women, although certainly catering towards a younger demographic. Their prices are completely reasonable and just what you'd expect with this kind of clothing spot. Hmm... writing this review just makes me want to head down there soon and check out new digs (as it's been a while since I've been here - not since their new remodel). How could you not love Vanilla? This place is great. The employees are super helpful and so friendly, but they're never pushy. They have a truly awesome selection of clothes. I seriously find something I love every time I go there - and their shoes are killer too! I've gone there before and had Kiana help me pick out the perfect thing to wear to different events (weddings, parties, etc.) and every time she is spot on and I feel amazing in the outfit she helped me put together. I've just started making it a habit to go there whenever I need something cute to wear because she has such good taste - all the girls there do! Stopped in today before dinner for the first time and I was impressed at how cute the clothes and shoes were. They had pretty spendy pieces, and well priced pieces also. Mostly, everything I looked at (dresses) were sizes small and medium. Not sure if the Larges sell out quick, or if XL is available, but I hope the store reads the reviews here and sees what would be helpful to their customers. Even though I walked out without buying anything today because of the lack of size Large or XL, I will definately be back because I admired a bikini on the rack by Volcam that my husband and I instantly loved but the top was only in a small, and the bottom a M. The woman who helped me wrote down the brand/style in hopes I could find it online since she wouldn't be getting more in. Tonight I bought the bikini thanks to here help on a website I found. Given my big bust and big hips and butt, I'm going to have to try my luck at finding those sizes Large/XL next time I'm in. I'll keep trying :-) read more

The staff is amazing in helping pick out items I would never think about trying on and the clothing is beautiful. I never leave without a new pair of jeans because they are the best.
