I went in to shop for some accessories for camping, black hole bag, tote bags and such. ... As I looked around the reorganized store for the items, I was ignored for the sales-woman who were too busy complaining how the men in their lives were stupid and did no actual work. After listening to complaints about HVAC pricing estimates and dumb men for 10 minutes, I had enough. The negativity, the vitriol and group caddy comments was not something I signed up. This is one of two independent Patagonia stores, we are fortunate to have a Patagonia store in our town, independent, or not. Patagonia is one of the required uniform items in Bend. A staple. I've been a Patagonia shopper for twenty five years, starting back in the Bay Area when I worked for a company that offered a reciprocal discount. Gone is my 40% off, but what has definitely endured is the top quality merchandise offered by Patagonia. This store is a good one. Located in the downtown area of Bend, large footprint, packed full of Patagonia wear and gear. Great selection and the staff is happy to order you something if they don't have what you want you're looking for in stock. Quick turn around for orders that can come to your house, or to the store. The workers in this store seemed pretty friendly. I bought in two backpacks for repair. Unfortunately they didn't have any of the buckles that had broken on my bags, but the girl at working the register told me the necessary steps I needed to take to send my gear in and make sure that my backpacks were taken care of. Hector helped me with a jacket selection that I purchased on-line for store pick-up. When I picked it up I realized it wasn't the weight I needed. This is the first time I'd been to a Patagonia store. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable but not in your way. Meaning, if you'd like help with something, they're happy to help guide you towards what might make the most sense, but they're not trying to sell you something that you don't want or need. The atmosphere and decor was great as well. The reason for 4 stars is that I let them know this was my first time shopping there and they didn't mention how amazing their guarantee is on their products. I had to ask to find out. But either way, would certainly be up for shopping here again. read more

I love this store. They have a great selection and I want to shop local. I love to touch the clothes and try them on for size. But it always feels like I'm being watched so closely when I'm just shopping. The staff is helpful but just not friendly. Maybe they have issues with shoplifting but a little kindness would go a long way. read more

Good enough product made in China and Vietnam for (of course) fairly premium price tags. Unfortunately, a given in today's culture. My problem is that I was the only customer in the store (along w my husband) but, the salesgirls were too busy rattling hangers rather than help me in the dressing room. So, nothing fit. It seems like I've been trying to find the right trail running shorts for ages. Stopped by Patagonia the other day to try on the Strider Pros, didn't plan on buying them at the time, but somehow ended up with two pairs, the 5" black and 7" navy. While I absolutely love the 5" length, the 7" were just too long for my liking. Thought it would be a long shot to exchange the 7" pair, having already run in them a few times, but the store was completely on board with making sure that I was satisfied with the purchase. It was truly a hassle free process. Glad to finally find some shorts that I love at a store that does right by its customers. Kudos! read more

I was in the Patagonia @ Bend store today and had a very poor customer service experience. I am a huge fan of Patagonia and have been for a long time, not just their clothing line, but also their overall mission to reduce impact on the environment. Big fan of worn wear. I have both purchased and sold thousands of dollars of their product in support of the company, as I worked for about 10 years in the outdoor retail industry at a large outfitter in the southeast. I am now a Physician Assistant in the Seattle area and happen to also be a thruhiker, having completed the AT in 2003. I say these things not to brag, because really, who cares, but because my credibility was called into question by the staff. My wife and I are in town skiing at Mt. Bachelor for the week and we popped in on Monday afternoon for me to grab a couple small things for skiing, as well as a pair of windshield liner gloves. They were an older version of the glove, but I did not know this. Unfortunately, when I tried to wear them today for the first time, only 2 days after buying them, I noticed there was a hole in the left hand glove, the one I did not try on in the store. I attempted to return them this afternoon after skiing, not having worn them. I had both my receipt as well as the store tag that was on them with me. I was immediately met with suspicion by both the male store clerk, whose name I did not get, as well as the store supervisor, Daniel. Both of them were unwilling to do anything for me in the form of a store credit or a refund and behaved as if I was trying to steal from them because the gloves were an older model of which they only had that pair and they didn't have another in that size in stock. They suggested that I contact Patagonia for possible repairs. W0hile I understand that there may have been people in the past that have unfortunately tried to pass off old product for money or store credit, the only people who are at fault for this kind of action are those same people. Approaching honest people from a place of suspicion when you clearly don't know your own inventory is inappropriate at best and disrespectful at worst. Having my integrity called into question over a menial pair of gloves makes me furious. It was only when I started to make a stink about the unfairness of the situation that the manager Daniel agreed to at least do an exchange for another item I needed and refunded the difference. I don't usually post reviews, so it takes a lot to get me to do so. The way I was treated is simply unacceptable. My only goal in posting this is for other people to not be treated the same way I was. While I will continue to support Patagonia as a company, I will go out of my way not to patronize this store. read more

Great selection, and the crew there knows their gear -including the owners, who at this point know me by name! Helpful staff that's not overbearing and never an issue with returns.
