I like shopping in Columbia (which has really great deals), Eddie Bauer, Rack Room Shoes, Kitchen Collection and some others. Nike, too. The parking lot is huge. This is not a mall where you shop, eat lunch, shop some more. There's not much in the way of food, with the notable exception of Wild Oregon Foods.

But, there is absolutely no fluff. This is a member based store, but non-members are allowed. I do not have a membership, not sure what you get with it, but it only costs $5. Full service with a pharmacy. Great selection of small appliances and local beer. (That is an indicator right there of what my focus is). Prices are good, as good as any other in town. The store itself has zero sparkle, looks a little tired, but a solid selection. Always plenty of parking, the staff working the store are very nice.

I've bought several nice pieces of art there too, and by art I mean custom made pieces like my farm style table made out of pine, with a long bench in one side, and two chairs on the other sideboard made with Sheshem wood by a local artists. There's plenty of other custom made pieces also made by local builders there, so you will most likely find something original for your home there too!

Not sure how to respond to the owner's comments but I tried to return a gift and they only offered to return the money to the persons card that purchased me the gift. So technically yes you'd allow a return. But as the recipient of the gift I don't walk out with anything. And the person knows I returned their gift. I'd have been happy with store credit as there are very nice items in the store, but that isnt offered. I was told a small boutique store like yours doesn't do store credit. So I get the technicality of you taking returns, but was told the refund would go to the person who purchased me the gift meaning I leave with nothing. Is that not correct?

The manager of the store Ron helped us and he was very helpful explaining that there was a 4-8 week wait for the couch. A week later I got a call from the manager of the furniture dept. telling me that the order time would now be about 12 weeks but if I wanted to purchase the floor model they would discount it. I picked up the furniture last night and 2 young women who worked there actually loaded into my truck. I am now a huge fan of Big Lots. It looks like they have changed the entire store around and offer a wide variety of goods that just seem so much better than what they previously had. More importantly it is very clear to me that there is an emphasis on customer service and who ever is teaching them how to interact with their customers is doing a fabulous job. Needed a usb today, $130 purchase would have been. My significant other went in for me and said 3 secret shoppers followed him around but no employees around to help with anything in electronics! He left, we will never return to any Walmart ever. It's been a couple years of us deciding because it's always so chaotic and the easiest thing is difficult for them... and the secret shoppers are inhumane. This store locks up so much, they do not support the people. It's so dumb, can't pick up can't get it inside. Hire more people to watch people shop, no one to help in real life with a uniform on. Don't forget the frequency. I don't foresee Walmart being the way once boomers pass on.
