All for $5 Choose 4 items for $5 . On the way out the cashier said I can pick free item from the basket. I love this place! What a hidden gem!

You call yourself a bargain hunter? You're no bargain hunter if you've never been to the Franz Bakery Outlet Store. With *only $20 in my pocket* I can fill a bag or two of delicious baked goods and feed a whole mess of people. Having people over? Stop in and get 2 dozen doughnuts for under $5 - how can you beat that? Having a brunch? Stop in and get cinnamon bread to make a big batch of french toast! Is it perfect? No, sometimes things are "best buy" the next day, and, I can never tell how much things cost. Is something that is 6 for $5 cheaper or more expensive than something that is 4 for $3? And if you only want one it's... how much? I'm lost. Sorry, my math teacher was right, I was going to need this some day. I also think that they, the workers or the store itself, are a bit disorganized. One example, last week they had a shopping cart full of donuts without any price on it. I asked the worker and she said "I'm not sure I have to check" and then came back with "I think they're a dollar each." I bought two, she rings them up, just typing in 2.00, and as I walked out, I saw a different worker putting an 89 cent sign on the cart. In the long run, they literally give away free loaves of bread with your purchase, so I can't complain about the 22 cents. If you're doing the gluten-free there isn't a lot here for you, as you might guess. That said, I do like some of the non-bread products they sell. For example, they have this mustard called Koops' Arizona Heat, that I love on my sandwiches and is hard to find anywhere else. They sometimes have a couple other condiments, chocolate milk, things like that. I'm so pumped about some bread from the thrift shop!

    Been around awhile.

Yes, as a bakery outlet, they always have specials on. Whether it's shaving a couple cents or things like 3 for $5, etc. If you currently commute on the buses using the SoDo busway, like myself, take advantage of stopping by here. :) I stay away from the really unhealthy stuff. You also may find some "oldie" candies here (the kind not in your local grocery/dept store). I no like, but hey, cool. Friendly staff. Something about walking around in a charming old building. Gotta vending machine with some cheap Vitamin Water. :D I got me some cinnamon swirl bread. Yummy. Just make sure you check the date tag (like any store); on the rare occasion (I happened to see one on my visit), they'll forget/overlook to pull some items with old "Sell by" dates on them. There's a small card fee if used. **Warning continue at risk** On a super side note: SDOT and/or WSDOT PLEASE FIX THIS RIDICULOUS ROAD. -_-" omg it is horrible on the bus.

Lots of options that you don't see in grocery stores. It's not just franz bread but other types as well. They also sell candy and other groceries. I thought the prices might be a bit lower. I guess you should visit if you are looking for a wide selection of items, not neccessarily because it's cheaper.

Raisin, sourdough, reg English muffins, strawberry banana loaves, gluten-free 7 grain loaves, and a sourdough loaf: $14.99!!

I love discount groceries. My tombstone will probably read something like, "Here lies CP. She loved cheap groceries and puns. May she arrive in discount shopping heaven with a bottomless cart sans a squeaky wheel." Because my guy doesn't care for bread that you can see the ingredients in, I often purchase Franz's white bread that is made from whole wheat. He can't tell the difference between it and regular white bread ^_^ I used to shop a lot here when I ate more bread products, but have since dropped off over the years. If you are responsible for bringing in treats to work/need BBQ fixings/lunchbox items, then you should come here! I freeze whatever I won't use right away; don't be afraid to stock up. Being the outlet, everything is mad cheap. Because I bought x amount of English muffins, bread, etc. they let you pick 3 free items on the discount rack (a discount rack within a discount store?! My heart was beating so fast.) So I walked out with fresh sourdough, 3 kinds of English muffins, 3 loaves of strawberry-banana bread, 2 loaves of gluten-free bread for $14.99 today. They have their own parking lot which makes the bread hauling easy. You can't beat the 2/$6 gluten-free bread deal here, so I'll become a regular (again!)

    Thats the place!

Mega cost savings on bread! Great Franz quality. Best kept secret in bread. The employees are always very nice and helpful. Most loafs are 50% off or more. Definitely worth a trip to SODO to stop in.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! Buttery flaky layers of dough with a strong earthy mushroom flavor and savory cheese - an absolute umami bomb. We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. Definitely coming back for the mushroom and Gruyère pastry and to try their other delicious flavors. Their supreme croissant flavor switches often and we can't wait to try the next one! One of the best bakeries I've been to in Seattle so far.

If you can find parking in the Cap Hill area I would definitely consider this as an option for a sweet treat. I think the prices are really reasonable considering some of the other options. Staff: 5/5 (nice) Sanitation: 5/5 (clean) Soft serve w/syrups (5/5) I've had most of the syrups that they offer with their vanilla soft serve. The soft serve itself is a really creamy and rich vanilla milk flavor. I would say it's closer to that Asian milk flavor if you know what I mean. I think the hojicha syrup is my favorite out of all the ones I've tried so far. It has a really nice roasty flavor and not something you can find at most other places. The matcha I would say is my second favorite. The flavor of the matcha syrup is definitely lighter compared to the hojicha but still is a nice compliment to the soft serve. The black sesame would be the lowest on my list out of the, all since I felt like the flavor was too nutty like it was a blend of sesame and potentially a nut. Overall I would definitely go back for the hojicha but if you're not into that there's definitely solid options for other flavors.

I have so many things that I need to go back and try, most likely with a group, so I can try lots of things. They do lots of specialty items, depending on the day which is a fun way to spice up their menu. I ended up going with the burrata focaccia sandwich which came with burrata, roasted bing cherries, pistachio butter, balsamic, arugula, and sea salt focaccia. SOOOO yummy. Great sandwich, and I am so glad that they did lunch items early in the AM. The cherries were such a unique addition to the sandwich but worked well, and they were also representative of the local area (Rainier Cherries). I wish that there was flaky salt on the bread. I didn't get much salt flavor wise, even though is says sea salt focaccia. The focaccia bread was soft which is my preference for focaccia. Overall, I'd say their pastries were generally good not great and were significantly sogged up by 12:30 PM when I grabbed em. Their patisserie is stronger than the pastries IMO and while I wouldn't wait in a crazy line, it's still lovely neighborhood spot and perhaps the pastries are a better texture earlier in the day. Highlights: - Miso Roasted White Chocolate Cronut: My favorite item in their current rotation. The cronut was a tad soggy, but the buttery texture inside is still satisfying and the miso white chocolate filling is lusciously smooth and perfectly balanced between savory and sweet. - Blackberry Corn Mousse Cake: Blueberry mousse is the perfect fluffy texture and the corn is very subtle. The sponge cake is light and perfectly contrasts against the bottom layer of crunchies to add a bit of variety. - Blueberry Corn Croissant: Pastry also held up quite well on this one with the outside still being quite crisp. The inner cream unlike the mousse cake is very corn forward with a bit of blueberry jam to balance it out. Skip: - Black Forest Cake: Found the cake to be a bit too firm with the cream filling to be a little bland and too firm as well. Just wanted this to be better than it was. Also, it looks totally different from the photo on their website heads up. - Tomato Basil Croissant: Just found this to be off ratio wise. The only tomato is the 3 small quarters of cherry tomato at the top and a light smear of basil cream. I can see this being very good, but current form factor isn't doing it any favors.
