Rainy day working needed a quick pick me up. Decided to go with build your own but just a half dozen. Picked up an Easter donut for a friend as well as the apple fritter, a chocolate custard a.k.a. Boston cream, original, and a raspberry cheesecake, etc. Price was $18 (less than competitors' donuts). What impressed me was how clean the store was, especially the bathrooms had a great fresh smell which is always appreciated. Also got to watch the staff wash down the grills that help the icing drip through. Have to call out Martha who was serving me and I didn't get the name of the younger woman working with her... But they were swift and friendly and efficient. There was a line and a lovely thing that Martha did was to offer the guy behind me, who had waited while the person in front of me with was served and had to wait for me until his turn, a complementary doughnut, and he was so appreciative... wound up taking two dozen home! Halloween night, we came 20 minutes before close and were actually given our donuts for free at the register then even asked if we wanted a box of a dozen donuts for free as well...as they had leftovers that have to be tossed at the end of the shift. We just took our 4 as that's all we needed and wanted but how kind! We saw some teenage/college age kids take the offer for the free dozen donuts! Friendly staff and good donuts. Location has plenty of free parking in front of the store with a drive thru option as well. Large store with booth, table, and window seating. I don't know what it is about this location, but whoever is in charge of filing the cream filled donuts is sleeping at the wheel. This is the 3rd time I've ordered from this location, the day before yesterday we walked in, and I ordered a half dozen of the shell cream filled, the cream filled round ones and the basketball donut. I swear they only held about 2 teaspoons of cream in them. Now those cream filled donuts are really the only reason I go to Krispy Kreme. They used to be scrumptious. Now they are dry chunks of fried dough with a tiny bit of cream in the middle. So no I wasn't happy with my order. Most of the donuts had so little cream in them, they didn't survive overnight, they were almost totally dry inside the next day, as if whatever cream that had been in there was absorbed. On the other hand, I've had online pickup orders that were perfectly fine, oozing that delicious creamer. Which is the whole reason we come to this store in the first place. When the wind is blowing trees across the road and its freezing outside, it's nice to step into a donut shop with a retro vibe like Krispy Kreme has. I first learned about it when it was still only serving one kind of donut (if I am not wrong on that) and still put the light on when the fresh donuts were up (maybe that caused too many accidents so they stopped; my friends were swerving off the road to get inside when that used to happen!). So when I found out there was one in Seattle, it deserved a stop in. They've expanded their donut output now; although many will say it's all variations on the same theme. It's a good theme though! For some they are probably the best possible donuts, if you like glazed and fluffy. I saw an ad that they were coming out with the Biscoff variety rn so I stopped in while coming home from downtown. It's an easy turn off first avenue in a very uncrowded spot and there is always parking available for free. It's a funny favorite to have - "yeah you know those biscuits they serve on planes? yeah those. those are my favorite" lol. But I'm in that fan club. They have 3 Biscoff donuts and all are amazingly yummy: one with a swirl of frosting on top, one that I'm guessing has filling inside; and one that is icing only. Go for it! It's yummy! It was 10:02 and they close at 10pm, so the person in front of me, that still hadn't even payed, was their last customer. What successful business model entails turning away a customer that wants to pay for already-made donuts, in a transaction that will take less 1 minute, rather than throw away, and take the loss, on the soon-to-be old donuts? Krispy Kreme... Got your mouth watering? Lol. Ours too. Unless one lives close to one of their locations, like us, Krispy Kreme is a treat. Their airy doughnuts cannot be met by any others. And yet, eating a pillow of air is so satisfying. Wait... Did I say "a?" I meant eating a few pillows of air is so satisfying. Who can just eat one? Their other doughnuts are yummy too. I especially like the apple fitters. I wish they'd come back with the blueberry fritters as those were yummy too. Their creme filled and fruit filled doughnuts are delish too. And if they have over estimated how many they've made for the day then usually an hour or two before they close they'll offer a dozen for like $2 or sometimes even a $1. We have been to their Bellingham, Northgate and Seattle on 1st Ave (attached pics) and they're all pretty standard. We've also tried the coffee which is OK, but I still like Starbucks overall. I'm not a big sweets person. In fact, they kind of gross me out. So why the hell did a Reese's Peanut Butter Stuffed Original Glazed Donut call my name? So much so, I went and tried them the DAY they were available. We swung through the drive through on the way home from the Seattle Aquarium. This location is convenient in the sense that it's just far enough out of downtown that the surrounding streets are too traffic-ridden. The drive through is super convenient, but they do have a private parking lot as well if you wanted to go inside.
