Decided to try a new Doughnut shop. Upon walking in I was instantly disappointed due to the fact there were little to no Doughnuts. The Cashier told me that once they sell out that's it for the day. She was very nice considering I didn't purchase anything. They sell a variety of other foods and drinks but I wanted a . The store itself was very clean and there is ample seating. Parking is ok, there are other Businesses around plus it's located at The Landing so if you don't mind walking you can park further away from the shop. I wanted to try Top Pot Doughnuts while in Seattle and found their Renton location to be convenient. This facility is in the large and excellent The Landing shopping center with lots of great food and retail options. It is right off I-405 and close to Sea-Tac. Parking is abundant and free. The facility is modern and spacious with a high ceiling and lots of windows. There is a display case showing the doughnuts, but most of the supply is pulled off a cart behind the counter. I am not a big fan of locking restrooms these days, but I appreciate that this location still has them open to customers. Seating seems a little limited given the size of the space, but I bet most of their business is to go. I got a raspberry donut and a lemon old fashioned with an espresso. First was the raspberry which was large and generous, but not amazing. The old fashioned was eaten later, but it was far more delicious with great flavor and texture. Looking at the photos, I am guessing they do not fry the product on site and ship them to stores from a central kitchen. This would make raised donuts less attractive compared to cake which likely explains my experience. If you want gourmet cake donuts, Top Pot Doughnuts in Renton is great. It would be a great stop to grab a dozen before your flight. However given the presence of Boeing, Kenworth, and Sea-Tac in the area, there are probably amazing 24/7 traditional donut shops in the area that may be a better option. read more

I'm not a huge sweets person, but when I heard about blueberry fritters I had to have one! A summer treat, they said. Kinda would imply that they use fresh, local picked blueberries, right? Last weekend was the day, I got up early and made my way down to The Landing to get a fresh fritter. Nice atmosphere in general and there was a great selection of doughnuts, including my coveted fritter. I also got a mocha with oat milk. Service was awesome all around, my mocha was quite good. The fritter? Meh!! I don't like to stick large food items in my mouth, I break them into pieces with my hands first, so I got a very, very good look inside the fritter. Lots of purple/blurple which is a great sign of blueberries, but I only actually saw one. It was 100% most definitely not fresh....why would someone wait for blueberry season and not use fresh blueberries!? The fritter itself was pretty good. I'd eat another one if someone offered me one free of charge, but this isn't something I'm going to seek out. They are substantial and even offer seasonal flavors like pumpkin and blueberry. The Apple fritters feed 2 people and the donut holes are nearly the size of those little packaged donuts at the grocery or gas station! Amazing! Stupendous! The light of my life; the fire of my loins. This location is great. They always have great customer service and make sure my fiancé and I get what we need. We have visited the location in person before, and the people are always super kind and chill. I ordered from DoorDash last Friday, and they don't give you the option to select donuts. If you order a dozen or half dozen, the only selection is to do "the most popular" or what the employee on duty chooses. Well, I called to see if I could get my fiancé a maple bar and apple fritter in the order, and a strawberry donut for me. The lady on the phone mentioned they can't guarantee that the DoorDash delivery driver would visit their specific location, but she offered to take my order completely just in case. We managed to get all 6 donuts we asked her for! That was incredibly nice of her. I don't know her name but she explained to us the donuts she had and took my order over the phone. She (and their yummy donuts of course) are the reason we will be coming back. The donuts are always soft and sweet and fill you with warmth and goodness. I'm a huge chocolate cake with chocolate frosting donut fan. Unfortunately their version was just not tasty enough. I like Dunkin Donut's version better and they are a fraction of the cost compared to Top Pot. Their pricing is also weird. We didn't want 12 donuts ($20) so we decided on 8. Because their pricing is all over the place based on type of donut, our 8 donuts came out to around $19.70. Umm, I suppose we should add 4 donuts for 30 cents? After 3 days we still had 4 donuts left which were thrown out. Any donuts still around in our house after that amount of time is very unusual. In my two most recent trips to Seattle, this location is our last stop before heading to the airport to go home. A trip to Seattle is not complete without a Top Pot donut and I need to bring some home with me when I start to miss Seattle. This location is always clean and staff are so attentive and sweet. On my last visit, I discovered what great cold brew is supposed to taste like and I've been addicted ever since. I've tried many cold brews from a large variety of coffee places, but nothing even comes close to Top Pot. I don't think these guys get enough credit... TPD may have the look and feel of a chain - but they are privately owned and local as local gets! If I recall they opened up shop in the early 2000s right here in Seattle's own Capitol Hill. Since then they've expanded their footprint to have many locations throughout the greater Seattle area and the one thing I respect is their consistency of service and quality of their products. Best doughnuts ever? debatable as it's all a matter of personal preference but most consistent? I wouldn't hesitate to say yes. My personal favorites of theirs is the old fashion doughnut, not sure why but each donut shop typically has one type that's great, specific to them. And TPD's old fashion is where it's at.
