I finally got to go to Boon Boona! I read much about in online and kept telling myself to take a road trip up from Oregon. After years, I finally took the drive up to Rento for the weekend. I ordered the berber mocha and I am glad I did. It was delicious, no overly strong taste. Expensive for cup but it was well worth it, in my opinion, it is a spacious place with plenty of seats. I purchased a Boon Boona Coffee hoodie too! Its a mid weight quality hoodie - perfect for a cool morning coffee run,

I thought this place was decent overall. It felt a bit messy, and the coffee was just okay. I didn't get a chance to try any of the pastries during my visit. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if I'm nearby and need a quick coffee, I'd consider stopping in.

I went to the counter and asked the barista if they make 12 ounce iced drinks. He assured me that they did and even showed me a 12 ounce cup. I ordered an iced 12 ounce latte and when they made the drink, it came out in a 16 ounce cup. I prefer the 12 ounce cup because if they use the 16 ounce cup it tastes too milky and not enough coffee taste. I asked the guy who handed me the coffee if this was a 12 ounce cup. He said yes it is. I said this looks like the 16 ounce cup. He said "well it's 12 ounces of milk and we just leave room for the ice and don't charge you for the ice." Wow, thanks for not charging me for ice after I already paid $10 for the drink. And, you're missing the point. I want a 12 ounce cup with milk and ice in it because that is a better ratio than a 16 ounce cup. If I'm paying $10 for a drink, I'd like to actually get what I like. Since I can't really taste the coffee I don't know if it's any good. And the barista made sure to know they were doing me a favor for giving me free ice. Not interested in that kind of customer service... won't be back.

Great local coffee spot. The place has lots of seating and is a great place to visit and catch up with friends and enjoy some great coffee. The baristas are friendly. And have a great knowledge of their menu and offerings. The beans are all from Africa and not only is Boon Boona cultivating community within the Seattle area, they are doing the same with African coffee growers. On my most recent visit, I went with the Berbere latte and was worried if the spice would overpower the coffee but it was smooth with a hint of spice. It was warm and delicious and I cannot wait to drink again.

I met a friend at Boon Boona Coffee the other afternoon, and what was supposed to be a quick catch up turned into a two hour business session because the space just invites you to linger. The ambience has this effortless blend of modern café energy and warm community vibes. You don't feel rushed, you feel welcomed, like you're meant to stay awhile. What stood out immediately wasn't just the drinks, but the way the staff carried the entire experience. I ordered an iced herbal tea to start, which was crisp and refreshing, brewed in a way that let every note come through cleanly. My friend went straight for americano; she said it wasn't bad! I had grabbed a bag of espresso beans, the Breke blend, per the baristas recommendation since I'm a newer home "barista". She walked me through all the beans they had and they all were roasted relatively recently. The barista took the time to talk through the beans, the roast, even told me how it was a flip flop (sour/bitter extraction) and then, as we were sitting there, even brought me a sample of what an under extracted shot tastes like. Who does that? It was this little masterclass tucked into a casual coffee stop, and I left not only caffeinated but a bit wiser. The espresso itself was everything you want in a specialty shop: bold, fragrant, and complex. The beans were clearly treated with respect, roasted and served at their peak. When I played around with timing at home later, I noticed how they held their character across that tricky balance point between the flip flop sour and bitter extraction. It's rare to find beans that can withstand that kind of flip flop without completely losing their integrity, but these did great. It made me feel like I wasn't just buying coffee, I was bringing home a little piece of craftsmanship. And that's really the heart of Boon Boona. The coffee is excellent, yes, but it's the way they connect you to it that makes the place memorable. You're not just served, you're educated, welcomed, and encouraged to experience coffee in a deeper way. That service alone set the bar far higher than I expected, and combined with the comfortable space and well chosen beans, it made for one of the best café visits I've had in a long time. If you're looking for a spot to work, talk, or just savor a great cup, Boon Boona is the kind of place where two hours slip by without you realizing it, and you leave not only satisfied, but already planning your return.

Great location in downtown Renton. Ended up meeting a co worker here before work to enjoy some coffee. The staff are super friendly and there was ample seating for me. The latte was very delicious. And the breakfast sandwich didn't last long as I wolfed it down so quick! Will definitely be back for future morning stops before work.

So, I've been daydreaming about visiting Boona Boona for a while now. Sure, I've had their coffee beans at home, but there's something about drinking coffee where it's brewed that just hits different. The vibe? Imagine if a coffee shop and an interior design magazine had a love child -- sleek, earthy tones, and a whole lot of "I could totally work here on a Monday." It was packed, but somehow still gave off a chill, "I'm here for the coffee, but also to soak in the decor" vibe. Bonus: There are a couple of curbside tables for when you want to sip and scroll with your dog (we all know that's a thing). Now, the menu... Oh boy. *This* is where it gets fun. I walked up to the counter and had the *brilliant* idea of trying to figure out what to order without a menu. (Spoiler alert: I'm an introvert who stares at the menu for way too long like it's a life-or-death decision.) There were no menus lying around, no signs hanging -- just the specials scribbled on the counter like it's some secret society you can't be part of unless you've been to Boona Boona before. I even tried to check their website... and guess what? Digital menu? Ghosted. I half-expected a treasure map to pop up instead. Despite the menu mystery, the staff were absolute gems. They weren't *just* patient, they were like coffee sages guiding me to my iced banana mocha latte -- and trust me, it was worth it. My friends loved their hot chocolate and strawberry matcha lattes, too. Everything was delicious. Honestly, I'll be back just to see what *other* caffeinated concoctions they come up with. But Boona Boona, for the love of caffeine, please, a sign. Or a website menu. Or maybe a coffee fortune teller in the corner. Just help a fellow introvert out.

My friend and I visited this charming spot on a Sunday afternoon. There was a bit of a line, but it moved fairly quickly. They have a great drink menu with some fun specials, like a banana matcha beverage. They also offer a selection of pastries and sandwiches, which are clearly popular, as the options were very limited by the time we got there. I tried the strawberry matcha, and I was pleasantly surprised--I really enjoyed it! My friend ordered the rose cardamom latte, but unfortunately, it wasn't quite to our taste. It had a slightly bitter note that didn't sit well with us. One of the highlights of our visit was getting to see their coffee ceremony. They even offered us a free sample of the featured coffee, which was a nice touch. Finding parking was a bit of a challenge since the area was packed, so be prepared to walk a few blocks if you aren't lucky with finding a spot nearby. Once inside, the service was great, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I managed to grab the last seat near an outlet, which was a bonus, but we didn't stay too long since the Wi-Fi was a bit slow. Overall, it was a lovely experience with lots of space! Hoping to be back to try some of their other beverages.

What a great spot! We went on a Friday late morning making our way out to Portland. There was a little of a line to get to the counter for service. The strawberry matcha was delightful and we ordered the breakfast sandwiches on ciabatta bread! They were amazing and oh so hot and gooey with the chipotle sauce. I like how they offered a beyond meat version which I really appreciate. The matcha green tea with strawberry was very refreshing and tasty. I can't wait to go back.

I will preface this review by saying that I am not a coffee drinker, but my cousin who was visiting from out of the country is and for a full week she tried tons of coffee from all over the Seattle area and Boon Boona was her absolute favorite. She drinks her coffee black and she got the drip coffee which was Bereka that day and she loved it. The cafe space is huge and super cute with lovely art on the walls. There's plenty of seating - bar seating by the large windows and big tables and smaller tables. The baristas/employees were so kind and helpful. The first barista we had answered all our questions. A different barista helped my cousin pick out beans to take back home with her and she said he was super nice and helpful. She ultimately went with this special roast done in collaboration with Blackfish Distillery in Auburn. The coffee cups are super cute. There is free wifi. The place is super clean. There are clean restrooms. They take BOTH card and cash. They also offer a variety of pastries and they had breakfast sandwiches including one that was a Beyond Meat patty, which is what we ordered and it was good! They have non-coffee options too and I got the iced matcha with almond milk. It was good but FYI it's not sweetened - in case that's your thing. My cousin loved the coffee and the ambiance and the friendliness. I also loved this place but I really appreciated the hospitality from the staff the most!! We felt so welcome here. I'll be back to pick up beans for my cousin for the next time I visit her! Thank you Boon Boona!

First of all, very hard to find parking spots. Then, as soon as you enter the door, it smells very bad. The cashier was inattentive and had a bad attitude. most important of all is that their coffee is very expensive!!! I ordered a 16oz latte it cost me more than $7!

12 oz chocolate hazelnut latte (on their specials menu this winter)!

Ask the Community - Boon Boona Coffee

Are you able to grind coffee for customers?

Yes we are happy to grind and coffee purchased at our cafes, we look forward to hanging you in!

The Yelp hours say open until 4pm on Sunday, but their website says 2pm. I called but the phone number doesn't work. What time do they close on Sunday?

Thank you for catching that! We will update to reflect the correct hours 8am - 4pm / 7 days a week

    Are you allowing dine in?

UPDATE - As of Dec 15, 2021 we offer limited seating!

Do you serve any food or pastry items?

Hi Nancy! Thank you for reaching out! Yes we do. We offer - paninis, breakfast sandwiches, vegetarian and vegan wraps, small salads, and several assortment of pastries. Look forward to having you in!

If street parking was the only type available, how long can you park at a time (given that this is downtown Renton) & is parking free? If not, is there a free parking area nearby for longer than 2 hours? Looking for a place I can work remotely?

Hi Tracy! Parking around downtown Renton is 2 hours in most parts and it’s free :). Hope to see you soon!

    Do they really allow dogs?

We went one of the first weekends they were open. We checked Yelp to make sure dogs allowed was listed and took our two leashed dogs in with us. The owner waited on us and even made a foam portrait of one of our pups on my latte.

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #105…read more I first visited a Tra Viet location in Vegas, not expecting it to be a small chain originating in Washington! On the drive up back from Portland recently, we decided to stop by the original location (and only stand-alone store left in Washington) in Renton, down near the Boeing factory. This boba shop is known for serving drinks in essentially soda cans, complete with pop top. It's a unique concept, but it also means that value is less than competitors since the drink size is much smaller. Still, the quality is pretty high, at least enough to get us to visit based on what we ordered at the Las Vegas location. We ordered two drinks on our visit: Classic Milk Tea w/ Boba ($7.25) - No adjustments are allowed in this drink. The drink has a surprisingly strong malty flavor that pairs with the creamer nicely, delivering a thick and enjoyable experience. I believe the drink is premixed, which is why sweetness adjustments aren't allowed. Unfortunately it is too sweet for my tastes, especially since the boba soak adds even more sugar to the mixture. The ice levels, even at 100%, isn't too much. They use crushed ice that's easier to melt. The boba is of the mini variety, soaked well in syrup. They are actually cooked perfectly for this particular variety - great consistent chew and bounce on each tiny little pearl. I normally prefer full sized boba, but this one is very nice. I think their recipe can only use the mini boba - with the normal size boba at this texture, I would probably call it too firm, but it's perfect for the mini. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 5/5 Jasmine Milk Tea, Less Sweet w/ Boba ($7.25) - This milk tea is very perfume-like with plenty of jasmine flower flavor. With the less sweet option, it's around 50% sweet compared to other shops, which matches up with my tastes. Again, it has good body but no dairy flavor. Overall a solid drink. We actually drank this about 2 hours after the Classic Milk Tea and somehow the boba was exactly the same texture. Usually the pearls start hardening up, but this was still perfect! Milk Tea Rating: 5/5 Boba Rating: 5/5 Usually places like this which focus on gimmicks don't exactly serve the best drinks. Tra Viet seems to be an exception. I'd be happy to return any time I'm down in Renton! Bathrooms - I didn't see any in store, but I also didn't ask the bobarista for availability.
